Ticket decision---Please help me decide!

My 11 year old son and I are going to Disney in late March for 6 days/5 nights. I had planned on getting 6 day park hopper tickets. Our Disney vacation video came today and my son really wants to go to Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Quest. I can't afford the hoppers with the pluses, but I could get the pluses/no hopper passes instead. I don't think it will be that big a deal to not have hoppers as long as I know to plan one park a day. I just can't decide what to do!

Question--Would Typhoon Lagoon be likely to be open in late March? And does anyone have any reviews on the coral reef pool there that has tropical fish you swim with? Also, would and admission there or at Disney Quest make us not be able to use a Disney ticket that day, or is that different that visiting two different parks in one day without hoppers?

Yes, Typhoon Lagoon is open in late March. It reopens from its month long winter refurbishment on Feb 26. They keep at least one of the water parks open all the time. It might be cool at that time, it might not (we had one late March trip when we started the week in jeans and sweatshirts all day, ended the week in shorts...).

Also, you can use your extra options (water parks or DQ) the same day you use a park day off your passes.

We love the hopper option, but if you really cannot afford both hopper and extras and your son has his heart set on TL and DQ, not getting the hopper is probably your best bet. To us the best part of hopping is being able to leave a crowded park for a less crowded one. Also, we like finishing a day at a park that might be open later than the one we spent most of the day in. I think I read somewhere (maybe passporter?) that you can buy a one day admission to the water parks. Not sure how much though.

Yes, its around $36, so adds $72 to my total. The plus passes vs. the hoppers added about $12 for both of us. I guess if its too cold for the water parks, the DQ plus would at least be used. decisions, decisions........
