My husband and I will be in Orlando for medical care for 6 weeks during the winter. His appointments are M-Thurs from 9-1. We love Disney, but need to reduce our costs as much as possible.

Which pass or ticket would you purchase in this situation?

First I want to extend my wishes that your extended visit to Orlando was for different circumstances. Hope everything goes well.

In answer to your question about which is the more cost-effective ticket, it really depends on how often you will be going during that six week period. If you are thinking something like 2-3 times a week (i.e. 12-18 days total) then its probably best to get an Annual Pass. If going fewer days then I'd go with a 10 day non-expiring pass.

or if you think one 14 day stretch will do it, a 10 day regular pass which will give you 10 days over 2 weeks.

Also if you think you will need more days either with the expiring or non expiring pass you can, with certain restrictions, upgrade that ticket to an AP.

if you are a florida resident or dvc owner the ap is a good option, and if you come back to orlando during the year it will be great. the no expiration date is really good deal also, if you can not get the ap. there is a pass called the "undercover tourist ticket". sounds strange but from what i have been able to find out it is legit, cheaper, and well accepted by disney. ;) also comes with hopper option if you want.

We are from Illinois... I can imagine we will go 2-3 days/week during our stay.... We are not DVC. Due to the medical status, is there a way to get the less expensive AP? My daughter and I are both full time students and he is not working anymore due to the disability. Some kind of allowance or discount would be helpful. We love Disney, it would be a shame to spend 6 weeks so close and not be able to go!

Sorry there are no discounts for anyone in your situation and if you plan on 12 to 15 days an AP is the cheapest way.
