I have heard if you mention to your servers that you are vegetarian they may be able to offer more options than what they have on the menu..! I'm considering this next time we sail too even though I do eat meat, I don't like it at every meal.

you can probably tell your head waiter the night before you eat at tiana's if there is something else you'd like to eat that's not on the menu..

there's pretty much nothing on that menu i'll eat other than tomato soup..
not even the desserts (considering my sweet tooth, it's shocking i don't like something on there....but no)..

DD told me i could probably order a veggie burger and chocolate ice cream to go with my tomato soup....that would be fine with me..

has anyone seen the children's menu?

We are cruising for the first time this feb on a 3 night cruise. I'm bummed now over this menu with us being on the ship only 3 nights. If I ever cruise on the Wonder it will be a "reschedule my Palo night to get out of this" night for sure. Ugly decor and a nasty looking menu IMHO.

There's always the Lighter Fare offerings. Chicken, steak, and salmon. With steamed veggies/baked potato options. I've often just gone with that.

I agree the decor looks dated!! I've been an interior architect for years and there is nothing exciting about this restaurant redesign. So many ways they could have taken. The ship has so many cool well done things this just doesnt seem like one of them.

I'm shocked to see such negative opinions on the new menu/decor, I was thinking how I seem to want to try at least 2 things from each category! (often 3 or 4) and it's supposed to look dated! it's trying to look like a typical popular southern restaurant from the 20's

I agree the decor looks dated!! I've been an interior architect for years and there is nothing exciting about this restaurant redesign. So many ways they could have taken. The ship has so many cool well done things this just doesnt seem like one of them.

Isn't it the point that the decor reflects the decor from the movie, not what is current taste?

The poster ex techie has a picture of the kids menu on cruise critic! post #307! the sweetcorn chowder and cinnamon apple pie sound so good!

I think the restaurant looks fine; Disney-fied for sure, but nonetheless still evocative of some of the older restaurants in the city. However, that second-line stuff they show in the photos is schtick only done for tourists here in New Orleans.

I don't get the menu hate, though. Other than the New Orleans-esque sides (jambalaya, andouille, bread pudding), the entrees seem very middle-of-the-road. And, of course, the usual plain-vanilla suspects in the "lighter fare" menu as well. Nothing really that exotic or objectionable, IMO.

Really, they should have a gumbo as a soup offering, an etouffee entree, and a red beans & rice entree. Solid call on the desserts, though. All of that is clichéd, yes, but probably a little closer to what people think of in terms of New Orleans food.

Personally I think some posters evoke too much emotion into their posts. Ugly decor and a nasty looking menu IMHO. is just silly. Yes you might not like southern cuisine or the decor from the 20's, but to call the menu 'nasty' is beyond my polite vocabulary to describe that comment, and for a 45 year old person I would think that it is not to my taste would suffice.

Really, they should have a gumbo as a soup offering, an etouffee entree, a red beans & rice entree, and a bread pudding dessert. Solid call on the beignets and the doberge cake, though. All of that is clichéd, yes, but probably a little closer to what people think of in terms of New Orleans food.

Gumbo would/could be amazing if they got it right!

i love the decor and think it's a vast improvement over parrot cay and cariocas...
and i love that they've taken it from the movie..
and the fact that it will have live music is super cool!
all i said was the menu isn't great for me....on the other hand, DD thinks the menu is great....

Call DCL and request to dine in Tiana's on Pirate Night. Then you will get the Pirate Menu and not this menu.

You will still have a night of the main menu. You almost always cycle through the main menu during the course of the cruise - and then the other menus get added in. (Exception to the "then get added in" are 4-night cruises where you may get Pirate Night before the MDR menu depending on the schedule.)
