We are suppose to arrive at the Fort on Monday but they are predicting thunderstorms both monday and tuesday. Not sure what to do. I am camping with my two boys by myself and not sure if it is worth camping in the rain. Any suggestions?

I see you have FW listed 2 times for camping in the past so you are experienced and in the position to judge if 2 days of possible liquid sunshine would destroy your entire stay, hopefully much longer than 2 days. Temperatures shouldn't be too unpleasant so why not just go for it. Bring appropriate clothing and have a great time.

When it comes to the Fort nothing stops us from going!!!! Bad day at the Fort beets a good day at home any time!!!! Go and enjoy! My wife and I are wondering is there room for two more????:rolleyes1

This will be our first time camping without the cub scout pack and it will only be for three nights. I guess I will just wait and see how it is looking on Sunday. Maybe I will go and get a screen room tent so it will be easier eating and cooking.

OP there is only a 20% chance of rain during the first part of the week. I wouldn't worry about it. 20% at any time of the year here in Florida is not much to be concerned about. Yes, it may rain, but I wouldn't think T-storms were a big concern. Anything under 40% and you may not even see rain where you are.

Thanks freshlybarked! I decided I am going to go out and get a screen room tent so we at least have somewhere to cook and eat out of the rain if it should rain. The boys are really excited and so am I so here we come!:cheer2:

20% chance of scattered thunderstorms was the forecast for today, tomorrow and Tuesday in our neck of Fl. and so far today we have had 3/4" of rain, lightening, thunder and electricity has gone out 3 times within the last hour.

BTW, lightening just struck 2 blocks over but at least the power didn't go out. :thumbsup2

ALWAYS be prepared in Fl.

Exactly right! I live in the panhandle. The prediction has to be at least 60% before I take my umbrella with me.

In Clearwater it is sunny so far today. 1 hour south of us it's raining. It's Florida. Prepare for the worst, but you may just get sun.
