I know it's what you meant, but I'd change the wording to "each of the remaining days of our ticket." if your vacation is 2 weeks, you still only get 5 day's worth of FPs.

Not sure if it applies completely, but I found this on another forum, dated 4/25:

t appears that Disney has implemented a new rule regarding their resort reservations. If you modify to SHORTEN the length of your stay and were booked on some form of a discount (annual pass, special rates, etc) your entire new stay needs to be available at the same discounted rate and room type or you will have to pay the going rate/discounted rate that is available at the time you make the change.

This is pretty much outrageous. I've never heard of canceling a reservation and rebooking just because you need to shorten. However, the prevailing opinion is that Disney had to do this due to people gaming the new FastPass+ system.

I'll explain:

If you're a resort guest, the new system allows you to book fastpasses 60 days in advance + your length of stay. So if you're staying 10 days, you can book all 10 days at once starting at the 60 day mark.

People were booking longer reservations at the start of their true desired arrival so they could book the hard to get fastpasses (think Anna & Elsa) for the days they will actually be staying. This gave them a several day advantage over everyone else who did not play this game.

The downside is that there are many people who book as soon as discounts are announced and then make adjustments when they are able to get flights, etc. Disney also offers "bounceback" rates when you're onsite to book a future trip. Most people don't know when they want to go back, guess at dates, and adjust when they can make firm plans. These people are caught up in the new rules as well.

Between having to plan your vacation 60 days in advance to get on popular rides and only getting 3 of them a day (versus waiting in long lines) and now this change to the way reservations are made, I suspect they're going take a lot of flack.

I really like the new fastpass system - it does work very well, particularly as a room key and room charge mechanism. This new wrinkle is really annoying.

Thanks for this. It is probably good information for some. Mostly, though, this thread was about people booking and paying for one night to access certain onsite privileges. It's a long thread, but I don't think booking and then cancelling, or booking and then shortening, was the main point of the thread. It's good for people to know about policy changes, though.

Yep.

How do you figure? You still have to have tickets attached to your Magic Bands for them to work, do you not? So, is someone really going to go out and buy tickets for imaginary people just to get extra FP? I'm assuming you can't link tickets to more than one MB.

All reports are that NO, you don't need to go anywhere near Ft Wilderness. We're doing so as a choice only. I do think you need to set your arrival time for 7am though in order for you to "be checked in" to get the parking.

So how do you get your free parking if you don't go to the resort? Is it just linked to your MB?

2. I did, but it was a personal choice. And it was precipitated by having one of my party of 8 back out of the trip.

ETA - I made this choice knowing that if Disney changes their system I will have purchased 6 tickets "for nothing".

Hi, I have read lots of posts and threads, but haven't found one for our particular situation. We have a split stay, on site at Poly for 5 nights, then off site at a villa with a party of 11 for 5 nights. We booked a throw away for one night during the second half to get magic bands for my sister's family and to try to get some good FP. Thank you VERY much for helping me figure out when the booking window opens for all fp's.

My question is about EMH access. Ironically, we will probably only use the EMH one night while we are actually staying on property, but we'd really like to visit the evening EMH on the 'throw away' night. That one was booked through my sister's MDE account with 10 magic bands. Her party will have 6 linked to UT tickets, one friend on an annual pass (which is not linked to the room), and four extra MB's for us (not linked to tickets bc we have 10 day tickets linked to the bands from our poly stay). So, I know we can all stay in the park for the emh, but will we actually be able to ride?

My sister's 6 guests linked to UT tickets SHOULD be able to ride during emh for sure (it is on the evening that we have the resort reservation). Right?

My family of 4 has: 1) one set of MB with tickets, but not linked to a current room reservation; and 2) a separate set of MB linked to a resort stay that night but not linked to any tickets. Set 1 should get us into the parks, but won't work during the evening emh. Would set 2 allow us to ride during emh? Does it work the same as the 'extra sdfp'.

Finally, niece is bringing her 16 yo friend with an AP. She is not on the resort reservation. Can we give her one of our bands to allow her to ride during emh? Is there a picture, age or gender listed that wouldn't match? I could try to link her on the account, but that would make our party 11. We would have to give up one of the 'extra' bands (not a big deal), and I would have to figure out how to drop one of us from the reservation and add her name and AP. Seems way too complicated. I'd much rather just hand her my band.

Can we make this work? Please help!?!

So - I need to ask this question...

Let's say I booked a campsite for a week. Then 60 days before the first night I went online and booked FP+ for the whole week (60+7). Then about four weeks before our trip something came up and I could only stay at the campsite of those days. Can I call and alter my room only reservation? And if so, do I lose any of my FP+s? All of them?

As of now, yes, FP+ will remain but you won't be able to alter them until 30 days prior to your visit. I would be careful that a "helpful" CM doesn't cancel your reservations!

Under this scenario, I see where you can modify a reservation online. Wouldn't that be less risky? (as someone who is...ahem.... 30 days out today).

I ended up booking a campsite for all 5 nights (for our five day tickets spread over six days of touring). The campsite was $77/night and there are ten of us. I'm not going to cancel any days. The cost parking 5 days, and for the 10 magic bands covers half the cost. It works out to about $25/pp for the trip to just have the campsite fair-and-square. As a party of ten the cost-per-person is pretty small, and I feel better about it. I won't be anxious that they are going to change anything on me.

I am speaking from experience because I just did this. You get benefits on check in and check out day. So you could split it up and not have to do 5 days if you want to save some money. Just a thought. If not, the way you have it will work with no issue. You will not even have to check in at fort wilderness as long as you do online check in.

We are running into issues finding a place to kennel our pooches at home, so *may* think about an off-site rental that is pet-friendly instead. Holding out hope that our regular pet kennel has a cancellation and we'll be good. We don't want to kennel them unless it's a place we are familiar and comfortable with.

However, if we end up up off-site and I have to cancel my Room-only reservation < 30 day arrival window...will we lose our FP+ reservations I made at the 60 day mark? We have purchased our tickets separately through AAA for a small discount, so have them linked separately to MDX....

Any help would be appreciated...wondering what to do here....

I *think* you will be ok, but there are reports of people losing FPs for no reason at all, so no guarantees. Hope it works out for you and the pooches!

Without having to read through 2400+ posts would someone be kind enough to tell me if this is still possible -

Book and stay first night at campgrounds but be able to make FP+ for all 5 of our park days at 60 days out? We will be staying offsite for our trip but would gladly stay at a campground one night if it means we can book FP+ for our entire trip at the 60 day mark. Traveling in October. Thanks.
