As I understand it, at 60 days in advance of your room reservation, it 'unlocks' the ability to make FP+ 60 days in advance for your tickets. That works for all future days of your ticket AND for all past days.

The way I did it was to have my first park day and my room day be the same so I can't verify this from personal experience. For me it worked like the first example below.

If your room reservation is for June 5, and your park days are June 5-June 12 BECAUSE you have 8 day tickets (changed from 10 day tickets because I got tired of typing!)
(April 6 is 60 day before June 6)
April 6 for June 5 (60 days) << here's your room reservation
April 6 for June 6 (61 days)**
April 8 for June 7 (60 days)
April 9 for June 8 (60 days)
April 10 for June 9 (60 days)
April 11 for June 10 (60 days)
April 12 for June 11 (60 days)
April 13 for June 12 (60 days)

**Note that you could have made this on April 7 if you wanted to, and then it's just simply "60 days prior to each day". That makes it less confusing but you lose a day advantage on that one day.

BUT, if your room reservation is for June 8 (for example), and your park days are June 5-June 12
April 9 for June 5 (57 days)
April 9 for June 6 (58 days)
April 9 for June 7 (59 days)
April 9 for June 8 (60 days) << here's your room reservation
April 9 for June 9 (61 days)
April 11 for June 10 (60 days)
April 12 for June 11 (60 days)
April 13 for June 12 (60 days)

@ScrapYap may need to verify! This is my understanding of how it works when your room reservation is NOT the "first day" of your stay.
I hear what you are saying and am currently trying to figure out what will be best for us.
I really want to score A&E and BOG dinner for our trip. I am even considering booking a campsite for 7 nights so we have a better chance of grabbing them at the end of our trip. I would then likely modify my reservation closer to the trip and "save" the day that is our A&E/BOG day as our overnight/throwaway room. If I lost the FP+ for the other days, I could probably live with it.

Did you already book your days? Is the April/June example your real life one? Were you able to get what you wanted?
THANK YOU!

Why yes, yes it is :=) We arrive June 4, our first park day is June 5, and our room reservation is June 5. I'm actually still making my daily adv. FPs. I'm not waiting up at night any more and just getting them sometime mid morning. After I read all my unread threads this morning I'll get todays (I could have made last night at 1am).

CAUTIONARY TALE: On my MK days there were NO A+E FPs. I didn't have 60+10 available and they just weren't there. I looked.

If I were needing A+E I would book a room for 12 days and then winnow it down to what I just need (I would keep at least one day for the 2 days' of park perks).

I personally am keeping my campsite and not cancelling it. In fact we'll be using it for the first day for parking. We got preferred which is loops 100-300. I'm planning on parking in our site and going to MK via the boat which is the way we saw MK for our very first time in '03... rounding the island. This is a personal choice. Many people don't step foot in the campground. I may even have us swim for a mid day break :)

I currently have a campsite booked for 4/19 and 4/23. We are going to parks on 4/19, 4/20, 4/23 and 4/24. I am not planning to cancel the campsite and fully paying for it to get park perks such as free parking and EMH. I have already checked in online. Is it necessary for me to have to check in at FW? I just don't want to mess up my perks but we do not plan on doing anything at FW. I am only paying for it for the park perks and the ability to book FP+ at 60 day mark.

All reports are that NO, you don't need to go anywhere near Ft Wilderness. :) We're doing so as a choice only. I do think you need to set your arrival time for 7am though in order for you to "be checked in" to get the parking.

I did a one night stay in December in order to 60 day FP+ for MK while we actually stayed off-site in order to get 7DMT. I checked in online (got all 10 MBs in the mail - there were 10 of us), and we never went near the campground. It worked fine for us, including the parking.

Perfect! Thank you! I made my arrival time the earliest possible and the departure time the latest possible. This helps plan better! Now, I just need to pray the rain away. haha

perfect thanks! Did you show your reservation confirmation for the parking or was the magic band enough? Were you able to use EMH with no issue?

I sure hope reports closer to when I go are this promising. I'm nervous that I will do this plan and then they will roll out "cancel your res, lose your FPs!"

I wouldn't cancel the res, I would modify it (by removing days from the end).

Ah. Yes. I used the wrong terminology. I'd still keep one overnight. :lovestruc
You should not lose any FPs for a modified reservation :-) Even if you have less days in the reservation than you originally did.

You actually probably wouldn't even for a cancelled reservation according to reports.

Thank you for your help.
Let's hope this stays true for another year. Gulp.

Our magic bands were enough for parking and we used EMH with no problems (other than getting 6 kids up at the condo to be at MK before 7:00)!

Perfect! Not having to go to Fort Wilderness to check in just saved us a lot of time. I agree with the kids...we only have 2 but it will still be rough with them and the other 6 of us! I just hope this rain doesn't ruin it. Thank you for your help!

Anyone stay at Ft. Wilderness with more than one car and able to scan magic bands to get in a park without having to pay for parking.

Yes. We just did this last week. I made a campsite reservation with 8 people on it. I only did online checkin and never went to Fort Wilderness. We were able to use our magic band for parking and extra magic hours with no issues. We had two cars. I don't think the amount of cars mattered. They just scanned your band.

We are actually/really staying at the Contemporary Hotel for one night, in February, after that we will go to my timeshare for the remainder of the week. So I understand that I will be able to make my FP ressies 60 days before my check in date for the date of check in and the following day, when we check out. We will have 5 day tickets, will I be able to continue to make rolling FP ressies 60 days before each of the remaining days of our vacation, even if we are only staying at Contemporary for 1 night?

Thank you,

Karen
