Without having to read through 2400+ posts would someone be kind enough to tell me if this is still possible -

Book and stay first night at campgrounds but be able to make FP+ for all 5 of our park days at 60 days out? We will be staying offsite for our trip but would gladly stay at a campground one night if it means we can book FP+ for our entire trip at the 60 day mark. Traveling in October. Thanks.

We found the cost per night of the campground ($77/n in May) PLUS the cost per night of our vacation rental was STILL tremendously less costly than onsite. I'm renting the site 5 nights, but you could also try renting it every other night for your days as you get check in and checkout days. ???

Someone said in another thread that I could get FP+ for my check in and check out day on the 60 day mark and then each of the 3 remaining days at their respective 60 day marks. I think I will go this route. We will be traveling the 3rd week in October so hopefully it wont be too crowded since most schools go on break for the week before or week of Columbus Day. I went During Columbus Day weekend on my last trip and even then it wasn't too bad.

Really nervous about FP+ since Ive never used it and still reading to learn what all magic bands do. They sound really convenient so far! Thanks for the replies everyone!

Almost right. You'll be able to book the first two days at 60 days out. You wait one day, and then day 3 you book 60 days out from *it*, wait a day and book day 4 60 days out from *it*, and wait a day to book day 5. Also, you have to have 5 day tickets for this to work.

The one day gets you check-in and check-out days, and then you can go forward with a rolling 60 days for each day of the ticket you have linked to the reservation.

Has anyone considered doing this, but elected not to? I did it for our last trip, but mainly because I was terrified of what kind of FPs we would get if we waited to 30 days out. So much more time has passed, and it seems the reports are pretty good lately about availability at 30 days. Trying to decide what to do for our next trip. I won't have to decide for a month or 2.

On the one hand, I don't think I *need* to book the throwaway. On the other hand, it worked so seamlessly, and it did enable me to get the FPs I wanted (I think).

Thoughts after all the FP-mania has died down?

I personally am keeping my campsite and not cancelling it. In fact we'll be using it for the first day for parking. We got preferred which is loops 100-300. I'm planning on parking in our site and going to MK via the boat which is the way we saw MK for our very first time in '03... rounding the island. This is a personal choice. Many people don't step foot in the campground. I may even have us swim for a mid day break :)

Ohhh. That is a very good thought.

We're staying offsite with friends and have a one-night Fort Wilderness tent site booking that we're going to keep. Originally we were planning for it be a "throwaway" unless the kids decided that they really wanted to sleep outside one night. However, I just realized that we have two options for our Sunday trip to Magic Kingdom on "check-in" day, when we're probably planning to arrive at the MK gates around 8 or 8:15 am:
  1. Park at the TTC, walk or take a tram across the parking lot to the monorail station, take the resort monorail to MK (because the express monorail will still be having maintenance that early that day). At the end of the day, take the express monorail back to the TTC, and then walk or take a tram back to our car. Or...
  2. Park at our campsite (or presumably at the Outpost Depot if our campsite isn't ready), walk or take a bus through the woods to the marina, take the green flag boat to MK. At the end of the day, take the green flag boat back to the Fort Wilderness marina, and then walk or take a bus back to our car.
Parking at Fort Wilderness seems like it would be slower -- the walk/bus to the FW marina seems like a farther distance than the walk/tram to the TTC monorail station -- but maybe nicer in the woods than across hot asphalt. Maybe our "throwaway" won't be totally thrown away after all. Opinions, anyone?

I would take the bus. Is walking through the woods even allowed ? Regardless my first thought was snakes ( I live down here ) and the only way I would be walking through the woods is on the back of a horse.

We've camped there, and a walk through the woods is a very easy thing to do. It's very beautiful!

Sites 100-300 are close to the marina. I like it in order of 100, 300, 200. That's a personal choice, though.

And since the last time that we camped there, the main pool has a pool slide! (It was quite the plain affair back when.)

Hey folks,

L O N G thread here, so apologies if I missed the answer to my question......

We are staying offsite with a throwaway campsite first night for the 60 day FP window and MBs. However, we are considering another throwaway room in the middle of our 8 days stay to catch evening EMHs (12-2 am) because we never stay late (we're early birds) for the heck of it.

Do I need to make another room reservation under same MDE account since that's where our 8 day tix are linked or should I make another reservation under a different MDE (to receive the 2nd set of MBs) and somehow link the 2 so everyone on first reservation with the tix can use the EMH's on second reservation? (Not sure if possible as not clear how this whole linking stuff works yet).

You can use a new MDE.

Enter the park using the MBs that link to your tickets. Also wear the MBs that link to your onsite resort that will get scanned for EMH.

Thanks for the quick response. We'll go with the new MDE for the EMH.

We have memory maker on the original reservation. Is there a way to link / bring photos during the EMH when using the second reservation onto the memory maker? TIA

The ride photos will get sent to both accounts. The RFID scanners will pick up the ID from all MagicBands that are being worn.

You can also link the 2nd MDE to your original MDE.

It would be easier to write MM on the MDE MB with Memory Maker and scan that one with all photogs.

So after reading through a few pages (this thread is really long), I think I have confused myself a little. I will be staying offsite at a house for the length of my stay (Oct 14-21), and will be going to the parks the 15-20. I am thinking about getting a throw away reservation at FW for the 15th for one night for the FP+ 60 day perk. I understand how the FP+ reservation part of things work, my confusion came when I read about free parking and EMH. Do I get free parking and EMH for all the park tix linked to my MBs, or is that just for the one night of my reservation at FW? Just needed a little clarification for a first timer. Thanks in advance!!!

EMH and parking isn't tied to park tickets in a way, it is tied to the reservation. Everyone listed on a reservation (and _has_ park tickets) is eligible to enter for EMH, using EITHER their park tickets or magicbands. And EMH is only granted for the length of the reservation, including check-out day (in your case, the 15th and 16th). Parking works the same way (although child tickets/bands I believe will not show parking entitlements).

Please forgive me if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find it. This is my not my 1st time in Disney or fp+, however this will be my 1st time with a throwaway room, magic bands and memory maker so I just want to make sure I get this right lol. Our trip is from 11/21 - 12/5 this year. We are renting a house off site for the entire length of stay. I want to reserve a throwaway campsite for 11/22 (our 1st park day). I understand that if I reserve a throwaway campsite that I can do online check in and never step foot on property and do our fp+ 60 days out on a rolling basis for the remaining days, however my confusion lies in that we will have 5 day tickets however not be going to the parks 5 consecutive days. Will our magic bands be activated for the entire 2 weeks of our stay for the length of ticket (5 days) for our memory maker and our park admission, or just for the 2 days of our campsite reservation? If we go to the parks on lets say 12/3, will we still be able to use our magic bands for park admission and our fp+ and also get our pictures and ride photos from our memory maker on our magic bands?

MagicBands are always active. What they link to is the question.

The first time you enter a park using the band, the ticket entitlements you linked in MDX becomes active. You then have 14 days (inclusive of that first day) to use all the entitlements of that ticket. It doesn't matter on which days you do it, or what your resort reservation days cover. The resort reservation only really activates the 60 day window.

I'm not sure the length on the MemoryMaker entitlement.

Late to the boat on this! Mainly thinking of doing it for the MB and the 2 days of parking, since it is the cheaper way to go. Too close to the trip to take advantage of the 60 day FP+ reservation and not using EMH. Does it matter which days of the trip (1st day, last day?) you book the campsite?

If I reserve the campsite now, will I be able to reserve my FP right after I make the reservation? Or do I have to wait for the MB to come in the mail to link them?

Also, how early can you check in online? Can you do it the day before? Or does it have to be morning of?
Do you have to check out?

Thanks for lending me your expertise!

As soon as your reservation is linked to your MDE where your tickets are linked, you can book your FPs. Your MagicBands provides the link to your tickets and FPs when you are at the parks.

Complete online check in as soon as the site allows you - you can do this a few weeks before you arrive. You will not have to stop by the Front Desk when you get to the resort.

Thanks! Sounds easy enough!

One more question, when I just booked my campsite, it did not ask what colors I wanted for the MB. Will we get the gray ones? For some reason I thought we got to pick the colors. I didn't mention MB at all??
