One of the less profound DIS threads today...:)

Inspired by the slipcover thread...

Do you have throw pillows, and do they drive you crazy? I'm constantly putting them back, retrieving them from the other furniture. The first thing everyone in the family (3 teens) does when they sit down on the couches/rocker is move the throw pillows, sometimes tossing them across the room to the other couch, or stacking them on the rocker or on the backs of the couches. I don't know why I just don't get rid of them, except that they came with the furniture, so I'm "supposed" to keep them.

Why ARE there throw pillows anyway? :confused3 Apparently in our house, it's to throw them someplace else. :confused3

I totally agree! They get piled in the floor or on my coffee table or the back of the couch. I guess they are for making the couch/chair look pretty when no one is around to mess it up:confused3

I have them and they drive me crazy. I am always repositioning them so they look perty on the furniture :confused3 Then one of the kids comes through and the pillows are a mess again :confused3 WTH?

I think throw pillows should be banned. :scared:

I use two throw pillows on each couch...we actually use them when we lay down to watch TV.

My mom was in a "no throw pillow mood" a while back. One of her friends who is of the "more is more" philosophy actually bought her some throw pillows for her bed because she felt sorry for her!

Ugh...bed pillows. I have 6 pillows on my bed...how annoying. Yes, I put them there. :confused3 I have a coverlet that came with pillow shams, so I have the pretty pillows that we don't use. Then I have the pillowcases that come with the sheets on two more pillows; DH uses one of that type of pillow to sleep. But I use a Tempurpedic-like pillow, so I have two of them (because they have to match ::yes:: ) in different but matching pillowcases. Makes DH crazy taking 4 pillows off the bed at night. Makes me crazy to put them back on when I make the bed and change the sheets.

we have them on the couch and bed. The ones on the bed are Mickey, so I love those ;) but the ones on the couch we actually use. we have a big sectional so they're not in the way.

Ours get used ....ALOT! so they actually look really bad when put on the couch! haah! we have a light colored couch and no matter how often we wash them, they are still not in the best shape, even though the couch is almost new! haha!

With two small children, we got rid of our couches with loose cushions on it, because we knew they'd just land on the floor all the time.

Mare! :lmao: Its the same in our house too. Yet I have dozens of them and I'm always on the lookout to buy more! :rolleyes1 :confused3

The furniture looks so stark without the pillows!

I buy pretty ones all over the place--Target has some great ones, as does Pier 1 and Ikea. Some end up being stacked next to the couch when we sit on it, but the others get used to prop behind our backs, or on a lap topped with legs for foot massages while we watch TV, or on the edge of the coffee table for an impromptu ottoman... When we need to fit more people in the room, we have large floor pillows, which we supplement with the throw pillows, for floor seating.

We have red fabric "accent" pillows on our leather couch that are some kind of microsuede. Without them, it does look quite boring. But I hate them. Microsuede pillows on a leather couch = massive static electricity. In our house, I'm the one who always throws them off the couch and DW always puts them back.

we have some on our couches that usually all end up on the loveseat. Our dog loves pillows, but is not allowed to lay on the throw pillows...however, every chance she gets, yup, there she is all comfy on those pillows. When I take them away from her she gives me this WTH look...lol

we have a ton of pillows on our bed, but the 2 in the pillow shams are perpetually on the floor...lol, since the bed hardly ever gets made...

We have them on the couch in the family room. I like them because they help pull everything together. The furniture is all from the same line but the couch is solid, the club chair is plaid and the coffee table ottoman is floral. The pillows on the couch are the same material as the chair and have the colors of the ottoman in them.

More information than you really wanted, huh :rotfl2: .

I've been known to throw a few pillows in my day:banana:

I have alot of throw pillows, and I must pick them up at least 100 times a day - I view it as a form of exercise

LOL I find myself being strangely drawn to them in stores myself. They DO look lovely and add a nice touch...if only they'd stay put! Luckily, I've managed to resist buying more since we got new furniture (the ones for the old furniture don't match, thank God), altho I must confess...I bought pillow forms and fabric to MAKE them a while back! :scared1: But it's highly unlikely that they'll actually get made and end up on the furniture. :thumbsup2

I even have Christmas throw pillows, and I groan every year when I put them out. But I HAVE TO. It's a sickness, I tell ya!

When we replaced our couch with 2 leather ones we ditched the throw pillow. With dogs, they just weren't worth the hassle. Plus I'm a minimalist when decorating and really don't mind the clean look of nothing on the sofas.

I keep a few throw pillows in a nearby closet for laying down purposes =)

Now on our bed, we do have several throw pillows for decorative purposes.

I used to have them but got tired of them being tossed around or used as a pillow and getting all flat.
