"Sure, if you like. I believe the background on this subject was reserving high demand times then renting them out. My point is that the times reserved have nothing to do with an objective discussion of this matter. That is purely the emotional component. There is NOTHING in the POS, Florida Statues or general timeshare information that I am aware of that would address the availability (or lack of) as being germaine to this discussion. The honest points discussion should be the following."
I believe the REAL background matter (at least for this thread) was the effort of some of the posters on this board to coerce other members into charging a certain amount.
You are absolutely right that there is no rule about the times reserved. That in and of itself means nothing and I understand that. Where it becomes relevant is if someone were to begin to build a case against a
DVC owner for indulging in commercial activity, grabbing peak times to increase ROI along with posts telling other DVC owners of their intentions would certainly contribute to a commerical use argument.
"I disagree."
As you are entitled to do.
"There are a number who feel most renting is not appropriate who are sane and objective."
Once again a link to this would be appreciated.
"While I may feel they focus on one area too much and not take in the entire amount of info available, at least they seem to ackowledge the overall picture and in many cases, admit the obvious but honestly state they wish renting werent' allowed."
When done in the manner that some posters on this board do it, I can see why they wouldn't.
"Then there are a few VERY emotional people, probably on both sides of the discussion. It reminds me of the start of College football season where people delude themselves into thinking their team will be good."
Yes there are and most of the time the VERY emotional people on the other side of this argument are the ones starting the threads telling DVC owners that they should be charging more money for their points so that they can increase their ROI.
