I'm going to be in Disney Aug 30th - Sept 5th. I've been there many times but this is DBF's first time. He loves thrill rides, but I am not a big fan. I have never been on Space or Splash Mountain, and am WAY too scared for Rn'Rc. ( I am extreemly scared of drops ). I know I can just wait on line with him so he can go, but since this recent happening on Rock and Rollercoaster I do not want him to ride. He has had a history of heart problems in his family and he has a type of irregular heartbeat. I do not know which rides will be too intense for him and which will be okay since I have never been on them. I also don't know how i can convince him not to go on them. Since he has never been to Disney he claims "he wants to go on them no matter what, and he will be miserable without them". He's been on many rides at Great Adventure, but I just don't know if he will be okay on these. Thanks

I think that all of the thrill rides at Disney are more tame then most other thrill rides at other parks. But, if he has been diagnosed with a heart problem, it is probably best to follow the signs posted outside the attractions.

If he normally rides thrill rides, then he should do fine on these. Disney is not exactly the "standard" when it comes to thrill rides. The only attraction I would be cautious about if I was him, is Mission:Space (the original version). They do offer a milder version now too, so you guys could decide to do that one.

thank you! :) he has been on the craziest thrill rides at other parks so as long as disney's are tamer than it should be fine, i will read the signs of course. it just scares me because you never hear of deaths anywhere but Disney, but i'm sure it happens. thank you for the reply though!

Trust me, deaths happen everywhere! There is a whole list of a website full of them at different places. I think Disney just gets the extra attention because of it's higher standard and how well known it is. It gets extra attention because it is Disney. But like I said, and the post after mine, their rides are more tame than others!

The best thing to do is just have him call his cardiologist and ask. My son (only 5 but tall enough for a lot of rides) has pulmonary stenosis and the doc always said "full steam ahead" at the end of appointments. Still after hearing of the RnRollercoaster thing I checked with her to be sure. (luckily he is good to go, but he won't go on the worst rides.)

Definitely have him call his doc before you go. Alot of them will give you the go-ahead to ride certain things, but better to be safe than sorry. :)
