Just wondering if anyone has used Thrifty Car Rental in Orlando? I was looking at car rental rates for Feb 2006 and they have the best price. I read that it was not on airport property, however, and was wondering if you have used it and was it a hassle? Apparently there is a shuttle but not sure how far from the airport we are talking. Thanks for any info.

and has a shuttle:)

Everyone else in our family has used them, except us. (We just prefer using onsite services, and we're Budget Fastbreak members.)

No complaints for Thrifty from any of them - multiple time users...10 minutes or so by shuttle to the rental office, easy in and out:)

HTH!!

I have used them many times at orlando, Great service. Sign up for thier blue chip club and when you get on the shuttle to the lot let the driver know you are a blue chip member and your name and they will have your car all ready and waiting for you when you get to the lot. It works great.

Just used them Aug 23-30. We have always gotten airport rentals but the price difference was enormous this year. We got Thrifty for a week for $124 with all taxes where the cheapest airport rental was $210. Only thing I didn't like was the bus drivers. Definitely want tips and big tips. I tipped the driver a dollar for carrying two of our bags off the bus - no thank you. It was clear he was not happy. Happened both directions. On the good side, it was a big mid-size with 12,000 in good shape. The bus ride is short and Thrifty is easy to find on your return. If the price was close but more I would still rent at the airport but for $85 dollars difference, taking a bus ride was well worth it.

I have used them twice - I don't find it a hassle to use a rental company off site of the airport - I actually prefer it. Never had any problems with shuttle bus drivers nor with the person who takes reservation over phone. Both times we had very rude agents "pushing" {that's saying it nicely} the insurance. Will not use them again because of how bad they were. If you do use them I truly hope you have a good experience.

Hope you have a good trip.

I have used them several times in the past the most recent being August. Never had a problem. Shuttle takes about 5-10 minutes and they run continously from the lower level (rental car level). My DH usually goes for the car while DDs and I get the luggage. Sometimes he is back before we have the bags.
Definitely sign up for their Blue Chip program. They tend to be less pushy with the insurance if you are a Blue Chip member. They are also good with free upgrades. We have been upgraded on our last two rentals. We usually book a full-size and one time we were upgraded to a mini van and in August they upgraded us to a new Chrysler 300M with only 600 miles.
