My parents/grandparents - You don't realize how good you had/have it until you see others who are not so fortunate.
Secondary Oncology Surgeon - While my main surgeon was very talented and highly regarded, it was the secondary surgeon who had the incredible bedside manner and helped me learn to care for myself after my complications.
College Friends - I will spare you the novel, but I somehow ended up with a network of guy friends in various Greek houses, athletic teams, work positions, and clubs who were tasked with making sure I was safe and properly cared for in social situations. It involved everything from keeping an eye on things while I was at bars or parties to making sure I had a safe walk or drive home. You hear so many horror stories about young girls in college but I had all of these people regularly making sure I was safe and sound.
