Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Although we go to Disney at least twice a year (not always the parks, just for a vacation) I don't love Florida and can't imagine living there, dealing with the heat and humidity, which I dislike almost as much as I dislike snow and ice.

Family goes without saying, along with friends and fun.

France- I loved traveling thru parts of France, and Paris is my favorite city in the world. I'd love to go back.

Forsythia- These beautiful, sunny, cheery bushes are one of the first harbingers of spring, and make me believe that yes, winter WILL end.

Fajitas- One of my favorite Mexican dishes to order. They are never too heavy and i can eat them without the tortillas and they are still just as good!

BEACHES ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ y’all know how much I love beaches in Florida is full of them and they have some very beautiful beaches don’t ask me to pick one I can’t I love all the beaches in Florida they’re all fabulous

My dream is to retire to Florida and live in a beach house I’m gonna have to get one of those cheap shacks because I can’t afford those million dollar beach houses🤣🤣🤣 would I be perfectly fine with that as long as I’m by the beach

They don’t have winter in most of Florida that’s a great thing about Florida 99% of the time they get no snow they don’t get ice they don’t get any of that nasty stuff that I’m currently suffering from right now they’re not getting the 12 inches of snow I’m getting right now that’s what makes Florida so great

People say well you get hurricanes well I get nasty thunderstorms and tornadoes where I’m at now and I get those year round they don’t get hurricanes year-round and they don’t know us get hurricanes so I don’t say that as a downside I’ve been in Florida several times during hurricanes You just go to DISNEY it’s the best place to be if they’re gonna have a hurricane which leads me to another great thing about Florida

DISNEY we all love DISNEY you got the parks you got fabulous restaurants you got the food and wine festival the flower and garden festival you got the Christmas decorations and all the activities they have at Christmas you got the festival of the arts I could keep going there’s always something going on not to mention they have those nice little rides you can go on they have a lovely shopping area

Florida has wonderful historic towns to go visit in forts you can go tour you can go to the Florida Keys you can go to their national parks so lovely state to visit with a lot of things you can go see

Hot and humid it’s hot and humid in the state I live in it’s just slightly more hot and humid in Florida so I’m pretty much used to it and just like SLO I have curly hair the only difference of it is I have big curly hair so when I’m in Florida I do have to do something with my hair because it becomes HUGE it gets its own ZIP Code it becomes so big🤣🤣🤣 but you know what since I won’t get any snow or ice I’ll deal with it🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s my second favorite state!!!

I have a love/hate relationship with Florida. Obviously, it’s home to WDW which has been a great source of joy and fun but I was a Floridian for several years and it wasn’t the fondest time of my life. My parents and brother still live there but have progressively moved to more tolerable/enjoyable parts of the state. Still, I have a lot of FL experiences that go well beyond WDW, so I’m going to draw on that.

1. Manatees- I love them and cherish all of my manatee encounters…from having them surprise us as we would kayak in the St. Pete Beach area, to seeing them around Homosassa Springs/Crystal River, a bunch of random encounters, and a surprising swim by when I was in the water on one of the southern east coast islands.

2. Reef fish- The Deerfield Beach pier cam can really give you some perspective on the amazing amounts of tropical fish varieties on FL. I’ve been lucky enough to be in the water and seeing them face to face in many parts of the state as well as a few glass bottom boat trips.

3. The NY Metro transplant effect- I didn’t really get to appreciate it until my parents moved to south Florida but it definitely makes our visits more enjoyable, especially from a food perspective. Ultimately, being able to visit and have decent pizza, NJ style diners with tons of Greek offerings, Jewish delis with all of the norms and decent bagels, not to mention all of the dessert options.

Florida things I'm grateful for:

:mickeyjumWDW and Universal - my whole household loves theme park vacations, and especially "the Disney bubble"

💗 family - my side of our extended family is from upstate NY, but several members have moved to Florida and we love visiting them

🌴 the weather - especially when it's winter up here!

Evening all,

Unsurprisingly my only trips to Florida have been to WDW, so no guesses on what I'm grateful for today!

1. WDW - obvious choice! :smickey:

2. Universal - while I don't feel like Universal's theming and overall experience is quite on par with WDW, I love films in general so adore this place just as much. Would ideally like to tick off all Universal parks once I'm done with Disney!

3. The heat/weather - I'm from the UK so we never get weather like Florida, and even hurricane season doesn't seem quite as bad as the dreary rain we get constantly here. While I'm not a fan of the humidity (my hair!), I love the sun and heat. Nothing beats touching down in Orlando and walking out of the airport into that heat.
