Three Things...Gratitude Thread

My jobs over the years - I was worked in creative industries not your normal type of businesses I’ve walked with creative people that create things for their clients so they’re rather unique businesses that have rather unique things go on and it makes sense interesting we’ll see but on the other hand you get a lot of liberties is these people think outside the box so things aren’t handled in the normal fashion so it’s kind of interesting sometimes other times it’s absolutely insane

Since since I have a spinal injury I have to come up with creative ways to do things move heavy objects and accomplish every day task I’ve become quite creative at this and I am always in the market for any little gadget that might help me out in any way possible

Decorating my house I’m very creative in my decorating I like color I like to do different things I don’t like the cookie cutter look so I like to get very creative bold colorful and very creative

Cooking often times I will get very creative with my cooking just to see how it turns out sometimes you get a nice new recipe and sometimes you get a nice new mess🤣🤣

Composers - I can get up there and perform my part in these master works but I can never wrap my head around how these composers can envision these enormous pieces and all of the parts (vocal and instrumental). Yes, there are some formulaic elements that are the foundation points for certain classical pieces, but if that were it, everything would sound the same. I was listening to a bit of the Mozart Requiem yesterday and still astonished with the complexities and overall beauty that went into such a creation.

Culinary Arts - While I don't want it to be so highbrow that it's more about the art over satiety, I am amazed at some of the presentation artistry, the deconstructive creativity, and the flavor combinations some food artists envision and successfully blend in their food creations.

Fashion - Unlike food, I'm a little more receptive to wearable art that isn't necessarily functional. Still, seeing some of these formal looks some fashion houses have achieved can be mind blowing. There is some vintage Dior out there that I would LOVE an opportunity to just try on for a few minutes. The artistry and overall craftsmanship is exquisite.

Creative things...

Light shows, whether stationary, fireworks, etc. I just love the lights, the colors, the festivity. Tonight we are going to a light show- the Asian Lantern Festival- at the Central Florida Zoo.

Modern art, and art in general. I am very analytical, which works out great for me as a scientist. I never would have imagined that I'd be so fascinated by art... but I am. I learned this about 15 years ago, and MOMA in NYC.

Ballet and dance. I danced a bit when I was a kid and in high school, but DD has taken this to the limit, having taken training coursed with world-known companies and having danced semi-professionally and taught ballet/pointe. I love going to the ballet. The beauty and strength amaze me and fill my soul. We recently saw Tiler Peck as the Sugar Plum Fairy in NYCB's Nutcracker, and I STILL have no words to do justice to her performance... and usually, it's really hard to shut me up!

Evening all,

1. My mum - my mum is the creative one in our family, and sadly not something I inherited! She's really arty and creative and seems to easily be able to make anything whether art, clothing adaptations or baking impressive cakes. I have fond memories of all the quirky cakes she made me as a child! And even as an adult I still go to her for all my creative needs... this is a cake she made for my 30th (my childhood ones were even better!):

2. Stephen King - I always credit King for getting me into reading as a child, so couldn't be more grateful for his creativity!

3. Wallace and Gromit - random but I absolutely love claymation and Wallace and Gromit have always been my favourite. I grew up watching their films and I still love them today. Their most recent film is one of the best things I've seen in recent years, so brilliantly british! There was an exhibition about them around an hour away from me recently and I'm devastated I didn't get chance to go.
