Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Phenomenon
I don't know of any other place on the West Coast that has so much history via a timeline and vicinity

Yuma prison wild West and current pop culture icon

Ocean to ocean bridge as a major roadway ... because California won't fix another bridge

Train station history

Colorado River carved the Grand canyon AND now helping the world with veggie craving

And the mission Church from which I snapped these photos

I agree that Portland is great but y’all need to try Bar Harbor ❤️❤️❤️
Worked there for 3 years. Beastly drive from Orono every day, but the scenery made up for it. Looking out the window above my desk, I could see the harbor and watch the ships come in and out. Looking out the side lab windows, I could see Cadillac Mountain. Not bad digs!

Fathers
Food
Farmers
Father.... I am sure that the young men and women who are bent over picking the vegetables swore they would never follow their father's steps on to the Colorado River flood plain... but where there is no opportunity this is what is done knowing that decades away they will hoe like their father.. uncle... Aunt... grandfather

Food....as a child farm laborer in 1970s Oregon didn't think much of it... just a few months of berries and beans at my leisure but when I drive US 95 thru the midst of the fields my heart is heavy... their labor is everyday .. November to April...to feed the world

Farmers here in Yuma is basically cooperations... but if there are families still planting and harvesting... grateful indeed... because it looks really tough out there

Merry Christmas Eve
to all who celebrate!

Today's Topic (Wed, 12/24) - 3 things you're grateful for that happen in the evening or nighttime.

(They do not have to be holiday-related, just that time of day in general.)

I read at night i’m grateful that I have the time to sit and read at night sometimes I sit and read for a long time at night but I’m very grateful for that

Chat with my friends on the phone - pretty much been a nightly routine of mine for decades some calls can go on for hours

When my kids were little I was like the nightly recap of how your day went and everything that went on and then the discussion of what was coming up or what we were going to do these things always happened over dinner I always enjoyed that
All planning always seem to happen during dinner

Afternoon all,

1. Rest & relaxation - I love getting home from work, getting all my chores etc done, putting my cosy pjs on and relaxing in an evening.

2. Outdoor Christmas lights - yes technically christmas lights can be on 24/7, but the majority near me (including my own) only come on in the evenings and at night, and I really enjoy walking round local estates and seeing all the houses lit up, they look so pretty and festive.

3. Candles - I don't have these on every night, but during the winter and especially during cosy nights in at the weekend, I love having my candles on in the lounge and turning all the other lights off.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁🎅

Meteor Showers - not that they don't happen during the day too but you can see them at night.
Holiday Lights Turn On - Yes, some people's stay on all day, but most turn on around sundown and are best viewed at night.
Weekday Gym Time - On most weekdays, I hit the gym around 7pm. It's sort of an evening ritual for me.
