Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Reading! Reading! Reading! It is the stepping stone to EVERYTHING else in life! I struggled to read. Most days my tired mom would pull me into her lap and read to me every book I drug home from the library. Even the biographies of Abraham Lincoln that a 1st grader had no business checking out. The librarian was hesitant, but she let me borrow them and my mom dutifully read me each one. I was in 3rd grade before everything finally clicked and I started reading. I am a ferocious reader as an adult. I can't imagine a world where I couldn't read.

I'm very grateful our library - not just for reading, but for programs, museum passes, and all the other resources they provide.

Grateful for so many teachers over the years, who really encouraged my curiosity and interest in school, whatever the subject they taught.

And another vote for the internet - I love being able to get information right when I need it.

I love learning and I am constantly looking things up. (For that I am grateful for my phone!) When I was still working, my students started to ask me to look things up when we were having class discussions. :)

I am also a fan of Duolingo. I am re-learning Spanish that I took in HS, but I am still at the stage where when I hear someone speaking Spanish they are going too fast for me! I am also learning chess, which I have always avoided because I was convinced I would keep forgetting which way the pieces moved. :)

I have loved reading since the days of Dick, Jane, and Sally. Loved riding my bike to the local library and filling up my basket with books. I too am a multiple books at the same time reader. Breakfast, lunch, while watching sports on TV, and then bedtime: all different books.

Today's Topic (Fri, 10/10) - three bags (specific bags, types of bags, whatever) that you're grateful for

Good Friday Morning!

#1 - My Disney Dooneys - I have several of them and I want more - I love them!

#2 - My Grandma’s Clutch Purses - These are pretty fancy, so I don’t use them often. I wish I knew how old they were.

#3 - My Softball Food Bag - This thing is huge and I carried so much food and snacks in this bag at one time. I still have it and will use it again when DH and I take some road trips.

I got so caught up in work yesterday that I never replied. My brain is so fried that I think I'm just going to move forward to today's topic. I love bags...seriously love them! I rarely carry anything big anymore as a purse style bag but you can expect both functional and fun honorable mention stuff today :)

1. Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag - This has become my go-to bag. I normally wear it as a crossbody but I can tighten it for walks and wear it around my waist if I need all of my "stuff." It's also small enough that I can bring it to the gym without needing a locker and it's great for hands free shopping trips. Mine is starting to finally show wear after daily use for a couple of years so I may need a new one soon.

2. Delsey Suitcases - I have a set that's about 13 years old and they are still in phenomenal condition. The larger bag is technically my medium sized checked bag but it's still big enough for a 1 week trip. I've used the carryon 3x in the last month and am about to use it again this weekend. My set is also royal blue so it stands out really nicely in baggage claim.

3. Backpacks - I have a number of them but they are my preferred bag when it comes to flying and having a "personal item." I have a Vans Donald Duck one that I love but it's not super functional when it comes to compartments. I have one that's designed for my camera gear that has really useful pockets in the two front sections but it's not my go-to if I'm not bringing the camera. I have a Columbia one that I bought for hiking that is one heck of a bag. It's 20 years old and I still use it for in-office days to bring in my laptop and carry pretty much everything else. If I were to treat myself to a new one, DD19s North Face Borealis is a pretty sweet bag.

Honorable Mentions-
Disney bags - I have about 25 Disney Dooneys, about 15 Disney Harveys, about 10 Disney Le Sportsacs (Small World collection), something like three Veras, and two Loungefly bags. I will say that out of all of them, Harveys are the best made for the price. I am grateful that I have a number of early Disney Dooneys as the quality is vastly superior to my newer ones. I don't carry them much anymore but some are more useful than others and all of them are such happy looking bags. I have started embracing my Harveys hip pack for Disney trips since it kind of works like my Lululemon. I would love to splurge and find someone reselling a Donald Duck Gucci backpack but I have yet to be able to justify the costs.

Designer Bags - Yes, there is a high price tag, but I was carrying one of my Louis Vuittons over this past weekend and I liked how it was trendy yet still went with just about anything. It also reminded me of some fond memories, like my mom periodically treating me at the Gucci outlet in Secaucus, NJ or how she let me use a little bit of my Bat Mitzvah money to buy my first Fendi. I also really enjoy finding legit second hand steals, like my Chloe Silverado, or discount sites like BlueFly where I got this super cute Dior.

Cute clear bags - I was at OU over the weekend and it was so fun to see how many cute clear bags there are these days for game day. I have this horrible one that I first got after 9/11 that was the official NFL sanctioned bag. So glad to see that things have come a long way and it's no longer such boring and basic stuff.

Padded Tripod Bag - As you may or may not know, we cannot carry on DD16s bats when we fly. They do not fit in our suitcases...even my huge one...and she's not a catcher, so there's no convenient gear bag to slip it in for travel. I had to get resourceful when we started flying a lot with her and realized that a pro tripod bag was the answer. They are well padded (although, I still wrap the bats), they have ties to hold the tripod/bats in place inside the bag, and they have decent straps so it's not a pain to carry from baggage/check in.

Trash bags - Not the most fun bags but could you imagine what trash would be like without them? Same goes for dog waste bags.

My Disney Harvey seatbelt bags ❤️❤️
Mt Disney Dooney bags
My huge collection of cosmetic bags most being Disney Vera Bradley every time I see one of those at a garage sale at flea market I snatch them up🤣🤣 you can just never have too many
My Dooney wallet that I use as a purse for dinner on the cruise 🚢
And my two favorites are my tiny little backpack and my tiny Crossbody bag one of the other old goes with me when I go to Disney because that’s my daily bag!! ❤️❤️

Evening all!

1. Backpacks - I was never a fan of backpacks until maybe the past decade or so, and now I can't live without them. They're my go to bag whether I'm going to work, shopping or just casual day to day. I adore a Radley backpack especially.

2. Crossbody bags - there are certain occasions where a crossbody bag is needed over a backpack, like when travelling and wanting to keep valuables secure and close, and I also use a crossbody handbag whenever I'm going out somewhere more formal or dressy. I love a bag you don't have to worry about or carry as such, so you'll never see me with a clutch or shoulder strap bag!

3. Lunch bag - I have a Disney (Epcot Food & Wine Festival) lunch bag that I use to pack my breakfast and lunch in when I go to the office and I love it. So handy and can't be without it.

An honourable mention also goes to Loungefly bags. I don't have many, probably because I can never make my mind up over all the awesome styles and themes. I'd also LOVE a Dooney, but they don't seem to be readily available over here so dependent on what I can find when I'm at WDW. I'm holding out hope the new Disney/Selfridges stall that's selling park merchandise might have some, but probably unlikely!
