Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Reading! Reading! Reading! It is the stepping stone to EVERYTHING else in life! I struggled to read. Most days my tired mom would pull me into her lap and read to me every book I drug home from the library. Even the biographies of Abraham Lincoln that a 1st grader had no business checking out. The librarian was hesitant, but she let me borrow them and my mom dutifully read me each one. I was in 3rd grade before everything finally clicked and I started reading. I am a ferocious reader as an adult. I can't imagine a world where I couldn't read.

I'm very grateful our library - not just for reading, but for programs, museum passes, and all the other resources they provide.

Grateful for so many teachers over the years, who really encouraged my curiosity and interest in school, whatever the subject they taught.

And another vote for the internet - I love being able to get information right when I need it.

I love learning and I am constantly looking things up. (For that I am grateful for my phone!) When I was still working, my students started to ask me to look things up when we were having class discussions. :)

I am also a fan of Duolingo. I am re-learning Spanish that I took in HS, but I am still at the stage where when I hear someone speaking Spanish they are going too fast for me! I am also learning chess, which I have always avoided because I was convinced I would keep forgetting which way the pieces moved. :)

I have loved reading since the days of Dick, Jane, and Sally. Loved riding my bike to the local library and filling up my basket with books. I too am a multiple books at the same time reader. Breakfast, lunch, while watching sports on TV, and then bedtime: all different books.

Today's Topic (Fri, 10/10) - three bags (specific bags, types of bags, whatever) that you're grateful for

Good Friday Morning! :wave:

#1 - My Disney Dooneys - I have several of them and I want more - I love them!

#2 - My Grandma’s Clutch Purses - These are pretty fancy, so I don’t use them often. I wish I knew how old they were.

#3 - My Softball Food Bag - This thing is huge and I carried so much food and snacks in this bag at one time. I still have it and will use it again when DH and I take some road trips.

1. My Loungefly backpacks. I have a Pirates of the Caribbean one and three Poohs. I love them because they make me smile;
2. My Dooney pebble grain purses, because they are sturdy and last forever;
3. My very old Jansport luggage that has traveled with me for decades and is still going strong. Unfortunately, Jansport no longer makes luggage.
