Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Thursday Morning!

#1 - Eggs 🄚 - I don’t eat them as often as other people do, but when I do, I fully enjoy it.

#2 - Mirror - I have an oval mirror, that my husband put on our bathroom door, so I can see the back of my head when I’m doing my hair. The main bathroom mirror is above the sink, which is across from the mirror on the door. My mom did this in her bathroom which is what gave me the idea. It’s hard when I go on vacation and can’t see the back of my head easily, because im so used to being able to do this

#3 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway - My husband is a huge racing fan and the IMS is his most favorite place in the world. The IMS is 2 1/2 hours away from our house and I used to go there with him before we had DD26. I have a lot of great memories at that speedway that I’m very grateful for. DH has been going to the Indianapolis 500 every year since he was seven years old - every year he buys four tickets and sells two. One year soon DD21 and I are going to use the other two tickets, she wants to go and experience this race, it’s just a matter of when she’s available to.

Horse racing track !!!!! I absolutely love horse racing for full disclosure I do not bet money on it I just enjoy the sport and absolutely love horse ā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ˜ƒ

Eggs - 🄚 it can be a breakfast food it can be a dinner food it’s a very versatile food I love them just about anyway you fix them especially when you whip into a cakeā¤ļø

Mirrors I do enjoy an oval mirror Especially the ornate ones

Wow! Shapes are tough! I'm still thinking about triangles 🤣

Vessel Sink - When we remodeled the bathrooms, I wanted at least one pretty vessel sink. The half bath has this pretty oval one made of treated glass in turquoise, black, and metallic coated clear tones. It's not as amazing as I hoped it would be, but it's still so pretty and I'm glad we got it so I could get that out of my system.

Toy Car tracks - My brother received a number of different toy car tracks for Christmas and birthdays. All were based on some kind of oval layout. Mind you, they might have some offshoots, but an oval was the foundation. We used to have so much fun racing the electric ones and the Matchbox ones that functioned on simple physics were a blast to try and design and see who could be the other.

Model Trains - Not quite the same as the racing in the toy car track example, but my uncle and paternal grandfather were big train buffs. While there were straightaways, crossovers, and other neat features, the simple oval base track was the foundation. My grandfather built a custom train platform that was the staple base for the annual Christmas tree. My uncle converted the entire attic in his first home into a massive train village and did a dedicated room in his second house. Roadside America in Pennsylvania was a major favorite of our family and more recently, the mall DH likes to visit for Christmas decorations has an area managed by the local Tin Plate Society that has some really impressive displays.

This is a timely one - ovals

I am grateful for the three elongated bowl toilets that were delivered today and will be installed next week. Out of three bathrooms, I was down to one working toilet, so it’s going to be wonderful to have them all working again.

Appetizers-
Oysters- fried, half-shell, stew... I love oysters!
Buffalo chicken dip
Rumaki
crab rangoon
chicken wings
Just about anything in puff pastry!

Oval things...
Eggs- on just about everyone's list!
I have several Limoges china oval platters that were my grandmother's. They are just beautiful!
avocados

Another vote for eggs! They are an everyday food in our house for DH.

An oval rug I have in front of my kitchen sink.

Watermelon šŸ‰
Our kids like the pasture raised eggs from COSTCO. (I dunno the difference). Pallets full sell out fast there.
Neighbor's ranch is overflowing with eggs and we send over BBQ, they send back eggs and fresh-baked Armenian bread.

TGIF!

#1 - Otis’s Puppy Crate - I’m grateful he has a comfortable safe place to be in when we are not home.

#2 - Dining Room Table - I am always grateful to have our large dining room table when the whole family is together. Having a dining room was pretty important to me when we were looking for a new house 20 years ago. Many people say dining room is wasted space, but for me, it’s a well used room. When we do not have family over, I use our large dining room table to work on my puzzles.

#3 - Picture Frames - I’m grateful to have all the rectangular picture frames displaying all the pictures that I love. Many I made myself and many are store-bought.

Sheet cake pan - Yes, I use it for sheet cakes, but it's also great for a larger batch of cookies, roasting potatoes or meats, and it's acted as a temporary trivet for round cake pans when I can't find the actual trivets.

Computer Monitors - I have no idea how we used to work on just one. I have two of equal size that are larger than our single screen days, as well as a third that's smaller all tethered together for my setup.

Vehicle Infotainment Screen - Just the AppleCarPlay/Android Auto features alone are just a major source of gratitude, but you need that screen to really make it useful. Just having it for navigation, whether it's onboard NAV or Google/Apple Maps, it's a major plus.

My laptop!

Books - all of us at work just brought in a bunch of books and started our own little library. We each put on initials on our books so we would know who each book belongs to, but should be fun having a bunch to go through!

Casserole dishes - When the kids were little, we had a lot of casserole. I know some don't like them too much, but my family loved them and they usually don't take too much prep time, so were super helpful on busy nights!

I am married to the most soft spoken, compassionate and kind girl you will even encounter.
Never had a bad day, (nor a bad meal) in her life.

Her two cancers are gone!

She's going through the weekly skin stretching inflators and will get her fake,,, errr,,,, ahhh, I mean replacement boobs in January.
"Qualifying events" and she will collect all my Union retirement benefits even though she is much younger.

I paid a lot of money for a long time for those benefits,, nice to live to see them do good and that's gratitude.
She'll have more time to be a crazy cat and dog and wild horse and wild Burro adopting volunteer. Shes placed hundreds in good locations.

RECTANGULAR

Rectangular/Box Breathing - e.g. breathe in for 4, hold for 2, breathe out for 4, hold for 2 etc. - very calming.

Big Windows - I love lots of light and big views.

My silk pillow cases - I switched to silk a long time ago and, though they're a luxury, rather than a necessity, I do prefer them. So cool and smooth and they slip on the pillow like butter, which is kind of satisfying!
