Three Things...Gratitude Thread

We have people living in this area from all over the world. I grew up in a very homogenous town and did not want that for my DD.

Lots of trees, although there has been more development lately.

So many playgrounds! I know that sounds funny, but when we left NY, our family was convinced that we moved here for the playgrounds. :)

Although I rarely make use of it, easy access by train to DC.

1. Tex Mex food- we have a good one that’s pretty reasonably priced that’s only about 10 minutes from the house. About 15 minutes away is a location of a local chain that’s more elevated and worth the extra. Even Chuy’s is better in its homeland 😂 We have one about 20 minutes in one direction and about to get another 20 minutes away in another direction. And if we get bored with any of these, there are another 20+ options close to home.

2. Louisiana influences- from the food to the culture, our area gets a lot of carryover from LA. From beignets and Mardi Gras to crawfish and Tex-Orleans fusion food, it’s definitely interesting.

3. Travel options- It’s easy to hop on the highways and drive, we have two major airports, and you can also cruise from one area…which is good because I feel trapped if I can’t get away here and there.

Neighbors- I hit the jackpot this time I have the nicest neighbors- helpful and caring people !!! ❤️❤️

Nature - I don’t live in the country but I don’t live in the city either - suburbs here but I have an abundance of animals and I enjoy them most of the time - y’all have heard me mention my pesky deer 🦌 who think they own my yard and I have a family of rabbits who live in my yard too - it’s fun watching the rabbits interact with the deer 🦌 or just watching the rabbits play
Taking the dog outside can be an adventure

Novels - love to read !!! Do it for over an hour every night so grateful for books and Mr Stephen King his mind is amazing the stories he comes up with !!! I have enjoyed his books since he started writing !! I’ve read almost all of them !

Good Sunday Morning!

It’s a beautiful day here in NW Indiana 😎☀️

#1 - Napkins - As I’m about ready to have a bowl of cereal, I will be using a napkin when I eat. I’ve bought all sorts of napkins, and one of my favorite napkins are from IKEA. My mom likes them too, so when I go to IKEA I buy a cart full for both of us, because they are also very inexpensive.

#2 - Nice People - Life is always more enjoyable when you’re surrounded by nice people. I’m especially grateful for the nice people at our church. I look forward to seeing them every weekend.

#3 - Net (the one to skim the pool) - it really is called a skimmer, but the skimmer is made with a net. We have 2 different types that help keep the pool clean. There’s something so relaxing for me to get in the pool and skim it to get all the leaves and debris out. I’ll be doing this in a few hours.

DD15s teammate- She has this super sweet teammate with an N name. She’s going through an incredibly difficult time right now and I’m grateful we all got to talk to her yesterday. It’s nothing we can fix, but hopefully we added some brightness in this dark time.

Nissan- We were in a bad accident about 11 years ago and all of the emergency crew at the scene largely credited my Nissan Pathfinder for saving us.

New Jersey- It’s where I grew up and it’s a big part of my family culture.

Did we know we were both Stephen King fans? :)
I too have read almost all of his books and short stories. The only novel I didn’t finish was the one about the hit man, Billy something? I have the latest short story collection in my kindle library but haven’t started it yet. I am also a constant re-reader of some of his books. I like to read ‘Salem’s Lot every October. It just fits the season. I love the way he can get the reader to care about a character almost in the first few pages. Sometimes I re-read a book because I miss a character! (I love Ralph from Insomnia) Sorry to hijack this thread. But it’s cool to know we have that in common.

Nuts: one of my every day protein sources.

New things: hard to explain, but there’s a special kind of excitement and anticipation whenever I start something new or even open up a new item, like a book or something I’ve ordered online. This is also a contradiction for me as I tend to prefer the old and familiar!

My sister’s Needlepoint skills: she is amazingly talented, although arthritis is interfering with this now. When my DD was born, she made a beautiful needlepoint birth announcement. Her tiny stitches are perfect.

Napkins - I love using cloth napkins I always look for them at antique stores or estate sales I have so many but they’re just so adorable great to decorate with and I love using them!! Course have to have 4 million napkin rings to go with my napkin collection it’s an addiction but it’s one I like I’m doing my part on saving the 🌎 🤣🤣 seriously I do still use paper napkins my cloth napkins are strictly for show !! I buy them by the barrel at Walmart if I had an IKEA close to me in a safe neighborhood I definitely go there and get them !! So love shopping there !! Thank God they don’t do mail order if they do please don’t tell me
