Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Fruit—especially melons and blueberries.
Family—close and extended—had lunch with my mom’s cousin yesterday and got caught up. She is my godmother and has a motherly role in my life.
Father’s Day—having my dad and my sisters and their families for dinner on Sunday. We will cookout. That is my dad’s favorite meal.

Fridays - such a good beginning to the weekend!

Freddy's - nice quick hamburger meal that DH and I enjoy before we go see a movie sometimes

Fans - we have ceiling fans in most rooms in our house. I don't know if they are still "in-style", but DH and I love them, so had them put in our house when we built. Makes the rooms more comfortable IMO

Flying..as in air travel so we can get in a quick Disney girls trip! I don't mind driving but gotta say getting there quickly is pretty cool!

Females: I adore the amazing women and girls in my life. And also the unimaginable contributions to society women provide.

Frivolity: The world is often far too serious, I always hope for a little silly fun.

Another vote for fall. (I'm not wanting to rush it, mind you, since we just got the pool open!! - But it's my favorite season overall.)

Fried chicken 🍗

Family reunions
- My aunt had one a few years ago and I connected with a cousin of hers and my dad's. She's closer to my age than theirs, and we have some uncanny things in common. We've stayed in touch ever since.

Good Morning!

#1 - A Christmas Ornament - my favorite ornament is a Santa Ornament that my mom made. I’ve loved it since I was a child and when I got married I asked if I could take it with me and my mom said yes. That ornament is front and center on my tree every year.

#2 - Afghans - I have several afghans that my mom, grandma and MIL made - they are all warm & cozy.

#3 - Christmas Decorations - my MIL is very crafty and made several decorations years ago that we have now. I love them and I know she loves that I display them every year.

Quits ❤️❤️
I don’t have them anymore but my grandmother used to knit me slippers every year when I was a kid I loved getting those every year !!
Afghans - my grandmother knit me two of them I treasure them ❤️❤️
Misc craft items my kids made through the years at school - some way back in preschool I still have some of their artwork or small craft items they are so cute to me ❤️❤️

Homemade or personalized notes or cards mean a lot to me. I pray in a tiny way to help spread faith and cheer through the mail.

Memory of my beloved late Grandma Dolores sewing light pink (my favorite color) sleeping bags for my playmobile kids.

Dad and I have enjoyed personalizing and creating our own seasonal decorations. Dear Slo, I would love to make a homemade Christmas ornament with you, with all of dear you in this loving thread.

Anything made by my mom - She's always been into crafting and sewing. Some of it is better than others, but as I get older, the things I turned my nose up at as a kid have also become special.

Baked goods/food - Store bought and restaurant stuff is fine, but it's special when someone really goes out of their way to make you something. It could be anything from a birthday cake or cookies to a special dinner or breakfast.

Home Remedies - It's no substitute for medicine if you're really sick, but I'm reminded of my little concoctions to help with easing the discomfort of a cold or throat pain to various home pastes with baking soda/water to help with a bee sting.

My sister has always been very talented and I am grateful for everything she has ever made me: a dress for my HS prom, a fancy dress to wear to a wedding when I was very pregnant that had a dropped waist with elastic that could comfortably fit me, a beautiful needlepoint birth announcement when my daughter was born, a NY Rangers fleece for my bed, and when I was going through radiation in 2019, she sent me her delicious oatmeal squares that she only makes once a year for Christmas!

Every Christmas ornament that my daughter, and now my granddaughter, has made.

My best friend from college is also very talented, like my sister. For a baby gift when my DGD was born, she made a beautiful quilt of all 4 Hogwarts houses. (My DD is a big HP fan) When we were in college she made me embroidered patches for my jeans and many other crafty gifts. I feel so lucky to have such talented people in my life.

Today's Topic (Thu, 6/13) - 3 homemade things you're grateful for
3 homemade things I'm grateful for:

Anything that my husband cooks, especially his tri tip enchiladas and homemade pizza

Homemade jams and jellies

My grandmother's homemade chocolate pies and my mother's cherry pies

I think I must be hungry.

My mother made all our clothes until I hit high school and said I was wearing jeans. She also made all my prom dresses until I took over making my own. Decades later, she made sunsuits and dresses for DD until my mom's vision went too much for her to be able to sew. I look at the cheap, shoddy clothes in stores these days and realize how lucky we were. I also love that DD, who is almost 31, has saved the clothes my mom made her. She's hoping some day to have a little girl of her own to share them with.

Pottery from my SIL. She was a very talented potter and we have some lovely pieces. Unfortunately, a car accident that resulted in a broken neck, and the botched surgery that followed, rendered her unable to work clay any longer. We have some lovely mugs, jars with lids, bowls, and plates that she made in her own studio, with glazes she mixed herself.

I love it when DD30 cooks. She likes more fancy stuff than I'd normally make, exploring with new spices and veggies. We think "meat and veg" but she thinks way outside the box. Last night, she made coconut lentils for dinner. It was amazingly good! I didn't think the resident 7 year old was going to like them- but he had THIRDS.
