Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Rolled/wrapped foods:

Pretty much any tubular shape with cheese inside! Manicotti, Cheese enchiladas, Eggplant Rollatini, Cheese Blintzes :)

One of my favorite antipasto items is mozzarella pinwheels with prosciutto inside.

Croissants, plain, chocolate, breakfast varities

Honorable mention: Rugelach cookies (as long as they are not made with raisins)

Good Tuesday Morning!

I love colorful things!

#1 - Colorful Clothes - I have a lot of fun colorful clothes for summertime. People tell me all the time how much they love seeing all my fun clothes. I tell them it’s easy to accumulate fun clothes when you go thrifting.

#2 - Flowers - I love seeing all the colorful flowers that I plant, and everywhere else, this time of year.

#3 - Disney or Pixar Animated Movies - I love all the big bold colors in animated movies. I say Disney, because I only watch Disney or Pixar movies. I never got into The Minions or anything else.

Love Color !!!

I love the highlight features in Excel !!! I USE them a LOT !!!! Drives my boss nuts 🤣🤣

Colorful Clothes - bolder the better

Colorful sneakers - I can’t stand white I want color - the more the merrier!!! I wear bold colorful sneakers

Walls - won’t find white or tan walls in my house - nope I go for big time colors - bright yellows / greens / red / purple / go big on colors !!!

Sky - love when the sky is full of colors I think it’s so beautiful!!!😍

I'm choosing colorful things I can see from where I'm sitting right now:

A bookshelf, with all the spines making a random pattern of colors.

A quilt made by a family member.

A box of crayons - because one of my favorite passtimes as a kid was coloring.

Good Morning friends:grouphug:

God's sunrise and sunset sky. Rainbows are also a beautiful reminder of my faith belief that God is always with me.

Definitely colorful flowers. Only real flowers though. I am not a fan of dyed daisies for example.

Colorful clothes including shoes.

Colorful Christmsas lights and ornaments.

/
1. Hanging baskets I planted. Mostly pinks and purples with some green and a touch of white.
2. Cross stitch pictures I completed and then had framed.
3. A Disney collage picture of my girls that DH had made for me as a gift—made up of other tiny pictures of them.

My Vera Bradley prints with black or navy backgrounds- but they have to have a lot of colors. All-time favorite is Symphony in Hue, which has been retired for over a decade. Of course, as I tell people, my real VB favorite is whatever is on sale!

I have a wide variety of colored pens for grading and colored markers for white board work: Pink, lime, orange, turquoise, purple, lavender, bronze, hot pink, in addition to standard ink colors (red, blue, black, green). Why go bland when you can go bold?

Fabric and clothes from the 70s. LOVED my neon prints! When DD was 3 (Halloween 1996), I made her a gypsy costume and used fabric that I bought in 1972 for the skirt. Black background, with small daisies in rows- daisies are hot pink, bright lime, orange, white, yellow. We lived in Michigan so I had to make the skirt big enough to go over her snow jacket and pants, and of course it was long. Well... she still wears that skirt. It's not long on her anymore- I actually took out the entire hem and just turned the edge under- and fortunately had an elastic waist, so it still fits! I love that fabric, and seeing her in the skirt brings back so many memories! (WOW- the fabric in that skirt is 42 years old!!!)

Colorful Things. So many: -

I, recently, saw a Lady Amherst's pheasant. The male is very colorful.

Disney World!

Primary school classrooms.

Books on bookshelves (but not organized by color!!!!)

Flowers. Especially, red geraniums and rapefields and wildflower meadows and bluebell woods.

Rainbows and pink skies.

Another big color fan here!

Colorful walls - There's a time and place for builder's beige, soft gray, and plain white...but it's also nice to have bright colors. The room I'm in right now is bright yellow. It's a happy room :)

Colorful clothes - From DD17s colorful prom dress in a sea of solids to the brightly colored pieces by designers like Pucci...I love colorful clothes. I guess we can lump shoes and bags in here too.

Colorful art - As much as I love Renaissance works, the bright colors in more modern art is so uplifting. I used to keep a copy of a Kandinsky in one of my rooms, but it was damaged in a move. Dali is another one that's a fave. If I sit here long enough, I could write out another 30+ artists whose colorful art brings me joy.

Not stopping at 3 :D

Colorful nature - I think this is why I enjoy photography. Not that any picture I ever take is as good as seeing it in person, but I always find myself trying to capture it anyway...and if possible, I'll go out of my way to see it when it's more colorful at different times of day. I remember spending the night with a South Rim view at the Grand Canyon. I told everyone else they could sleep in, but that I was going out pre-dawn to capture the colors as the sun came up. What's funny...they all wound up joining me at some point to see it as well.

Colorful language- I'm not just referring to profanity/expletives. The first thing that came to mind is beautifully written books and poetry, where the author's paints with words that take on life and colors in your mind. Although, expletives are another area of colorful language gratitude for me. While I know not everyone is good with it- regardless of the noted benefits, I remember a couple of college courses talking about how the most mentally damaging words and phrases in the English language do not contain even a hint of profanity. Yet, there have been numerous studies that show how a profanity based reaction to anything from a stressful situation to a big moment in a sporting event can be cathartic and ultimately alleviate stress. So yeah, I'm grateful for the colorful language that provides stress relief.

Colorful music- As a singer, I've often told people that certain notes, songs, and even instruments create a colorful reaction in my mind. Some people think I'm nuts when I say this, but others totally get it. It's also interesting to note that pieces that tend to create a lot of browns in my mind are my least favorite and ones that lack depth tend to be white.

Colorful nighttime events- As Disney fans, I think we're all lovers of things like fireworks, the lights of nighttime parades, and even the effects of colored light and water in shows like World of Color and Fantasmic!

Colorful decor- While I left the kids' game room the soft mint green it was when we bought the house, I decided to make it fun with a hodgepodge of colorful furnishings and touches. From this wild colorful area rug and a color block sofa to a splatter paint project with a storage chest and a floor lamp with colorful globes. It's such a cheery room!

Colorful drinks- Whether it's a cocktail or a mocktail, there is something so fun about colorful drinks. We went on a cruise a couple of years ago and the kids were able to get mocktails on our drink package. They got these layered "daquiris" that really helped them get into the vacation vibe with the rest of us. I believe the layers were mango (orange), pina colada (white), and strawberry (pink). And the bartenders were kind enough to give them the same kinds of colorful garnishes. Either way...it's just festive.

Colorful celestial events/fixtures- I've always been fascinated with this kind of stuff. The eclipse earlier this year was huge for me since the prominences and light changes added so much color that I never previously imagined, but it's so much more than that. I'm the person that will go out in the middle of the night to watch the Perseid meteor shower because seeing the sky light up with green and orange fireballs is just amazing. I'm the on on vacation who can't sit back and relax when the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. I'm the one who is eagerly awaiting the big planets like Saturn and Jupiter to come back into view so I can locate my darn tripod and try to get photos showing the colors of the planets. I saw Jupiter with my dad's telescope several years ago and it was just mind boggling to be looking through this device and see the actual colors. Last year, while we were in Colorado for a tournament, a big green fireball appeared in the midday sky during one of our games. I was so excited to go through the game recording and find it.

I have more, but I'll stop.

Colorful things:

1. For years my family watched the Wizard of Oz every year on our black and white TV. My parents would point out how Dorothy’s make-up and other things looked different and told me how in the movie theater it went from b&w to color. I was around 18 the first time I ever saw it on a color TV! Still one of my favorite movies.

2. Surprise rainbows. I am amazed every time.

3. I love talking about our favorite colors with my granddaughter and coloring together. Just bought her these paint sticks and I love them-no mess! They come in regular colors, neon, and metallic. They are so much fun! We also enjoy water colors.

Watercolors are so pretty Bluecastle:hug:My 98 year old friend Ruth, teaches a watercolor class at her house once a week that a dozen or so people attend. I've never been. Stick figures is what I'm best at drawing. I would imagine the experience to be most peaceful. God Bless your granddaughter. Please let me know by PM if she would enjoy some stickers. Thank you for all the love you give her.

Sweet dreams to all:grouphug:

Happy HUMP Day

Not including my family, since I’m always grateful for them ❤️

#1 - Friends - I just went out dinner with my softball mom friends last night. I’m very grateful for these 3 ladies. We’ve known each other for almost 10 years now.

#2 - Fuel - I’m really grateful that fuel prices are going down some. I paid $3.24 the other day - who would have thought I’d be grateful for that? But after the price was over $4.00 a few weeks ago, this current price is good, not great, just good.

#3 - Fireworks - We love watching fireworks this time of year. We go get ourselves some DQ Blizzards, park the car somewhere on the outskirts of where the fireworks are going to be, and enjoy the moment. We can’t hear any music that goes with them, but we don’t care. We just enjoy the family time :goodvibes

Happy Wednesday friends :)

My faith is my life. Everything to me.

Family especially my beloved dad. Precious blessing extra to me from God. Friends are graces too. I do thank God for all of you:grouphug:Memory of my furry friend and God's angel dog, Champ:dogdance:

Fun! Ability to have fun. Choose joy no matter what.

Freedom, patriotism, is also something dear to me.

First class and Postcard Stamps on mail of faith and cheer💌

My maternal grandmother - She was an F name. We often butted heads, but we she was pretty fabulous and fashionable back in her day (more F words 🤣). I used to love going through her massive custom closet and eyeing all of her stuff...and sometimes secretly trying it on as a kid when nobody was watching. I also seemed to inherit her love of more formal dining pieces. My parents' recent trip was the first one where I had to tell my mom that I wanted whatever piece she planned to bring of Grandma F's, but I didn't know where to put it. The house we're in now has a lot of built in display features. I used the one in my kitchen to display all of her fancy tea cups and saucers, so I see a big reminder to her fabulousness every day. Her fur (another F) coat also helped keep DD15 warm and toasty during the 2021 winter storm that knocked out power to much of Texas.

Furry critters - While I have a goal to see all of the National Parks, parks with a lot of wildlife usually end up highest on our list. I think this is part of why DD17 asked to skip Yosemite when we're in CA next month. We have a couple of tournaments in Colorado coming up and I currently have passes into RMNP (an excellent park for wildlife) on one of the only downtimes I know in advance. I use the term "critter" because we had an amazing guide in Yellowstone about 19 years ago and everything was critters for her... so it sort of stuck. DD15 (jokingly) considers the Yellow Bellied Marmot to be her spirit animal. So, I'm hoping we see lots of furry marmots in a few weeks.

FaceTime and (Facebook) Messenger- We live close to 1,200 miles from my parents, so it's not really convenient for them to be physically present for everything. Before we got iPhones, we Skyped at least once a week so they could see the kids. Now it's FaceTime, which is really convenient with our wild schedule. (Facebook) Messenger is also my mom's preferred method of typed communication with me since I recently learned that her phone is tethered to my dad's and anything I text to one goes to both. Messenger also recently came in handy for DD17. Her boyfriend's family spends the summer in Europe and Messenger seems to be the best tool for them to communicate right now.
