Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Photos of both sets of parents displayed on the same wall as our own wedding photo.

Another vote for Disney photos! - I especially love one of DS and I when he was five.

And the simple fact that due to cell phones, I always have a camera with me now.

1. Small album of photos my sister made for me. Oldest DD looks a lot like me and my sister went through old photos to find ones of me when I was the same age as Dd doing similar things. She made it when DD was only a year or two old so mostly baby pictures of both us us. Best gift I ever received.
2. Wedding photo book. We were married at Disney so lots of Disney touches.
3. Framed picture I have of a photo taken of my girls at Disney. We were at Epcot waiting for a show to start and they have their Mickey ears on.

The resident 7 year old's first grade teacher. His first year in first grade was a disaster, fraught with illness and issues and he ended up not learning to read or do math hardly at all. His teacher not only recommended he repeat first grade, but asked to have him back in her class. She felt that it took her almost a year to get around his issues/behaviors and get to know him, but once she did, she wanted him back. They retained him, he had the same teacher, and he's like a different kid. He's grown emotionally and physically, but he had this amazing woman for his teacher, again, and now he can read, and he got the top score in his class on the end of year math assessment. She stepped up to the challenge of a challenging student, and he is just shining in school now... and off to 2nd grade in the fall!
I love this so much! As a former teacher, (Kdg, 3rd, and SpEd), I remember the feeling that if I had a particular student one more year I could really get them where they needed to be. It was always so hard to see them start to progress right at the end of the school year, knowing they would begin the next grade behind. One school I worked in had a transitional 1st grade, which I loved! It was perfect for the kids that needed that extra time after Kdg. Budget cuts got rid of that, however. Your resident 7 year-old is so lucky to have you! I have been on the other side of the table from parents who only saw the stigma of repeating a grade and wouldn’t allow it. (That’s where that transitional class came in handy) Anyhow, this is a wonderful success story.

Every single WDW trip photo! Especially love the ones of my DD, and now my DGD, with the characters.

My DD took so many photos and videos our DGD during the beginning part of the pandemic when we couldn’t visit. Actually, she took lots of photos and videos from babyhood and on. I love looking at them.

Forever grateful to my father-in-law, who hasn’t been with us for many years now, who took videos of every family gathering. They are wonderful mementos of some very fun, and often hilarious, times together.

Happy Father’s Day to the DIS Fathers !

my next door neighbor- I cannot ask for a nicer person - he’s been so helpful to me he does things for me without me even asking / he help fix things at my house he refuses to let me pay him and I don’t like cash I mean like fix him a little treat or something but he’s always available to assist me and he’s like don’t go by that tool I’ve got one here you can use mine available to show me how to do something being a guy - he usually doing it himself after he sees me doing it wrong🤣🤣🤣 then he shows me how to do it!! Really nice and super helpful and just a wonderful person!!

My Boss - I’ve said this before I’ll say it again he can be the most generous person on the planet can also be very mean & nasty but over the years I see less mean and a whole lot more generous!! if I’m ever in an emergency situation I know I could go to him and he’ll help me out anyway possible ! I’ve called him on the weekends the first out of his mouth or what do you need bail money? 🤣🤣🤣 nope not yet but hold that thought 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 if I’m ever in a jam and I need help I know I can get it from him all I gotta do is ask he’ll provide no questions asked and he won’t hound me about paying it back No matter how long it takes me - and I must say being single and I’m not rich I can’t tell you how much that means to me to know that an emergency situation came up and I was short - I could go to him and I would be covered for the situation no problem it’s such a stress relief to know this

Sadly I don’t have a third - I have a very dysfunctional family and sadly the men in it a vey lacking in their behavior which I find quite frankly heartbreaking - I didn’t grow up around my extended family so I really don’t know them so I cannot speak on how they are they were never around or involved in my life the ones that were not worth me talking about.

Good Morning!

Happy Father’s Day to our DIS Dads! :goodvibes

#1 - My StepDad (RIP) - He raised me with my mom since I was 3 years old. He was a wonderful and kind man who always treated me as his own. He passed away in 2015 from Alzheimer’s.

#2 - My Dad - He came back into my life in 2015 after my Stepdad passed away (long story). I never, ever expected him to come back into my life and I’m so grateful that God blessed us with reuniting. He reunited with my mom too and they are a couple again (again…long story). God works in the most wonderful ways.

#3 - My FIL - He taught my DH so much, and is always available to help my DH with any projects that need to be done. There’s not enough time for me to list everything he’s helped us with throughout the years.

#4 - Bonus - My DH - I couldn’t ask for a better husband and father. After 29 years of marriage we are enjoying our life together more and more every day. Some couples don’t know what to do with each other after they become empty nesters and I’m happy to say, that’s not us.

#5 - Bonus - My Grandpa (RIP) - I have the best memories of my time with him. He taught me soooooo……..much. I wish I could spend time with him now. There’s so much I’d love to talk with him about.

Happy Father's Day to all celebrating! Extra hug, WDWEPCOT.

Above and beyond, first and foremost, I give heartfelt extra praise to my Heavenly Father. For me every day by my faith is Father's Day. I pray to be living for Him in thanks.

Dad is truly a gift extra to me from God. How blessed we are to both be in overall health and right mind, able to spend today together.

Memories of my beloved Grandpa Sam. He truly was, as I have realized as an adult, my first witness to Christ, my Savior, in the kind way He chose to live.

Sunday joy and hug to all.

Well I will say Gravy ❤️ but my gallbladder doesn’t like it when I eat that now but I’m still grateful for it - if I was Italian it would be spaghetti sauce because my Italian friend called spaghetti sauce gravy - that cracks me up she’s like we made pasta tonight and I had gravy with it and I’m like what?? Picturing her pouring milk gravy on pasta🤣🤣🤣

Grapes 🍇- they are an awesome snack I absolutely love them pair them with some cheese - or they can just stand alone they travel well I’ve heard tell that they turn them into this wonderful drink called wine 🍷 I’m grateful for both grapes and wine

Gazebo - I hope to have mine up by the end of summer!! My backyard is like the surface of the sun no shade with this I’ll be able to sit outside and watch the deer 🦌 or watch the rabbit 🐇

Good Monday Morning!

#1. Our Guinea Pig - She’s such a little bundle of joy every day. She turns 8yrs old this month.

#2 - Gym (Planet Fitness) - I love going to the gym. The staff is nice, they keep it clean and I’ve met a lot of of friendly people there. One of my favorite places to go.

#3 - Gloves - I just put them away for the summer. I have Raymauds, so I wear my gloves more than the average person. I’m very grateful for all my gloves - I don’t leave home without them when the temp dips below 65 degrees.

Good Morning and being able to wish it to each of you, my dad, others, and especially God, means so much to me daily. God Himself above all else always.

Grandparents--my memories of them. My belief that they are still and always with dad and I thanks to God.

Grace as it usually goes hand in hand with kindness.

Gratitude - It's at the core of this very thread. If there's anything we learn from each and every post...there's a lot in this world for all of us to be grateful. Even on your worst day, you can come on here and see a silver lining.

Girls - (specifically DD15 and DD17) I felt a wave of anxiety as soon as I typed that, but I couldn't imagine my life without them.

G Breeds of Dogs- My first dog was a Golden Retriever and my parents have had something like four or five of them. I love Goldens, but I have always wanted a Great Pyrenees. I blame the Belle and Sebastian book and cartoons. During my two stints as a shelter volunteer, we had two come in. I wasn't in a good place to adopt at either time but I made sure to alert the local breed rescues. Greyhounds are another one. I'd love to rescue a retired racer. We had a friend that did and he was the sweetest and most mellow dog you could imagine. While I would prefer a Bernese Mountain Dog (obviously not a G), DH said he'd be willing to get a Greater Swiss Mountain dog if I wanted one of the Swiss breeds with those markings. The Gordon Setter is another G breed I could see owning. In fact, the only larger G breed I could never own is a German Shepherd, but they are great work dogs and I know several people who have them as pets that love them...so gratitude for them as well. I didn't say things like Goldendoodles since they're still technically hybrid blends. Sweet dogs and I like each breed individually.

1. Grandparents - I'm so grateful for my grandparents as well as my kids' grandparents. We've all been blessed with great ones. I hope to one day be able to be a grandparent to my kids' kids!

2. Gentleness - it's one of the fruits of the spirit (which I love) and so important to remember in our fast-paced lives!

3. Growth charts - when our kids were growing up, we marked their heights on a cute yardstick type thing I bought at a craft fair. I'm glad it was something that can be moved so we could bring it to our new house. Such good memories!

Being a Grandma is the greatest joy in my life. I cherish every minute.

Giggles: my DH and DGD make up games that elicit that cutest giggles from her. Again, joy.

I am very grateful for this gratitude thread. I just couldn’t muster up the energy to post yesterday since it was my first Father’s Day without my dad, and then later on in the day, my sister-in-law passed away. Reading through everyone’s responses each day is a reminder of the small things, and the big ones also, that keep us afloat. Thank you!

Love all of your replies. Gentleness and Gratitude are Great! Amen to Fruits of the Spirit!

Greeting Cards! I should have thought of them immediately.

Guideposts Magazine.

Growth both new life outside and I pray myself closer to God through my faith.

Going through life with my dad Guided by God.

Came back to add groceries. Dad and I are on a tight budget so being able to afford necessities along with some extras truly are extra graces from God to us. Plus, what a blessing to be able to at times donate groceries or money for them (anonymously, when possible, as is my preference) to the food pantry at church or give to someone else in need.

Grandparents—and one of my grandmas even had a “G” name.
Guacamole—made some yesterday to set out before our Father’s Day dinner. It was a huge hit and I enjoy seeing others eat food I have prepared.
Giraffes—my favorite wild animal. I love seeing them at the Animal Kingdom.
