Silence. We are a busy, blended household of 3 generations and I love being home, in the peace and quiet, when everyone else is out and about!

That's a great one! I too, like silence. When the wife and kids are all out and about I really enjoy the peace and quiet. Just sitting there with our two dogs, reading a book, enjoying an Old Fashioned.

When I clicked on the last page of this thread I immediately saw fla4fun's post listing steak as a favorite. Since DD21 and I just enjoyed a ribeye at Wine Country Trattoria I quickly hit the previous page to see what this was all about.

Favorite Things beginning with S - I am going with a food theme
1. Steak - sorry @fla4fun, has to be more on the medium rare side for me
2. Salmon - especially Copper River salmon from AK. Seasoned with a Tom Douglas salmon rub
3. Sushi

S Things:
1. Salmon—one of my favorite foods. We had it for dinner last night and leftovers tonight. It’s not the best reheated, but I ended up making too much (daughter had a friend over for dinner and I didn’t know how much to make) last night so DH and I finished it tonight. It was better than expected.
2. Shrimp—so many different ways to eat shrimp and almost all are delicious. Peel and eat cold is probably my favorite.
3. Scallops—I love them, my kids hate them so I don’t have them often. DH is fine with them so once that last kid goes to college I might eat them weekly for a while!

It certainly is not bills - LOL!

#1 - Birthday cards with money in it - this was always so exciting when I was a kid.

#2 - Coupons - I love getting these for Kohls and Bath& Body

#3 - WDW Luggage Tags - this is always super exciting to receive before our trip.

Today by God's grace is dad's birthday. I am so thankful extra to Him for having cards and postcards sent with care to me for my dear dad by so many of youand brought to me through the mail. all again with all my heart.

I pray to be a kind witness of faith and cheer to my Savior through sending out happy faithful mail. Happy mail received means a lot too.

These days packages through the mail are extra appreciated.

Mail carriers do their best. I appreciate them. I do of course wish postage were lower. But it is always free to send someone a reminder that you care. I care everyone and appreciate each of you. Have a great Sunday

@TiggerTrigger I can also agree with Syracuse University. DH got his PhD there and we lived in Syracuse for five years. It was an amazingly wonderful time in our lives, and if he'd been able to get a job in the area, we would have moved there to raise our family. We still follow SU sports, and are happy-sad about Boeheim's retirement (but AAutrey is a good choice for coach, I think; another SU guy at the helm!)

We have a fantastic mailman/postman!

I appreciate how consistently helpful and friendly he is.

I love it when cards are delivered.

I appreciate our red mail vans and letterboxes. Oh, and the gold letterboxes which mark hometowns of 2012 Olympic and Paralympic gold medal winners.

My postal person leaves a lot to be desired I would be most grateful if they could properly deliver the mail - considering we have mailboxes like a big old stack of them not mailboxes at our house how hard is this it must be amazingly hard because our mail person is consistently missed delivered the mail the whole time I’ve lived here not just to me but to everyone in the subdivision it’s been a chronic constant problem that the postmaster has been unable or unwilling to address I try not to have anything that have delivered in the mail it’s really that bad
For full disclosure my previous residence had zero issues with my mail person for the 30 years I live there and it was literally on the other side of town less than mile apart from where I am now but it was a different post office

Cards and letters from friends and family - I have lots of friends and family that are out of state or out of country so I enjoy getting correspondence from them back in the day before we had the Internet and now sometimes they’ll send a card but mostly people use the Internet which is kind of sad

And then I will do one past tense one
Because I’m old and this was a big deal and people make fun of it but it really was a big deal getting the Sears Christmas catalog for the JCPenney Christmas catalog we could even go way back to collect Green Stamps and get the catalog and get to go shopping and cashing your stamps or flip through the Christmas catalog and get to dream about all the things you want to get which was more likely all the things you wish you could get - I still remember sitting there flipping through the catalog over and over again looking at all the cool stuff in that catalog!!

Another vote for birthday cards

Care packages when I was in college - Back in the day, we would get a little yellow card in our box and take it to the window to claim our package. It was so exciting

And I'm grateful for auto-ship of pet supplies!

I’m truly hoping that he’s successful with SU basketball. The Boeheim era was wonderful, but his hallmark zone approach became predictable. It was bittersweet to see him go, but it had to happen sooner or later. In general, it would be nice to see SU basketball and football return to the prominence they appreciated during the 80s and 90s.

Birthday and holiday cards.
Rarely these days, a real letter, or a Thank you note that says more than “Thank You.”
I think DCL still sends luggage tags for cruises. Those are the BEST!!

1. Scholarship letters- In this day and age where nearly everything is digital, the bulk of DD17s scholarship letters have come by regular mail/USPS priority packages.

2. Mickey mail! From the customized trip packet materials and luggage tags to magic bands (if I choose to splurge on new ones).

3. Brochures for the former owner of our home- It’s mainly things like Viking Cruises and lavish land tours. We’ve given up on trying to be removed from their mailing lists or having things forwarded. So now I just enjoy leafing through the beautiful glossy pages showcasing all of the places we could travel and food experiences we could enjoy along the way.

Today's Topic (Sun, 2/4) - 3 things you're grateful for that come or have come in the mail

Personal letters. I have some friends that don't use SM and prefer snail mail so we write each other a couple times a year.

Magazine subscriptions. I love my Food Network magazine and Reader's Digests. The first is just pretty and occasionally I'll find a recipe to try and the 2nd is just silly stories and jokes and light reading.

Checks - I never remember if I'm due a rebate or it's time for a Rakuten check so those are fun surprises when they come.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I am grateful that bills still arrive in the mail. I am a hard-copy girl; I need that statement and bill to keep me updated and keep the bills paid. I have a couple of accounts that are e-billing only and I HATE it. As much as I don't enjoy paying bills, I am glad they arrive, hard-copy, in my mailbox.

Greeting cards: Birthday cards, Christmas cards, get well cards, and happy little cheer-me-up cards (<3 to @flyingdumbo127 Thanks, Mona!)

Mickey Mail! I've been to Disney dozens of times, but there's nothing like a little MickeyMail to spark the excitement of an upcoming trip. They used to send such fun stuff- brochures, luggage tags, magic bands, and of course a wonderful welcoming letter. Sure do miss this, back when we really felt like Guests and not just customers.
