Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Morning!

The movies I’m grateful for aren’t my favorite movies.

#1 - Christmas Vacation - we watch this, as a family, every day after Thanksgiving while eating a big stuffed pizza for dinner. I love this family night! ❤️

#2 - The Polar Express - another family night movie. We’ve been watching this as a family since 2005. When the movie came out in 2004, DH and I saw it at the theater without our oldest, who was 6yrs old at the time. Then the next year it came back to the theater, on IMAX, and we took her (our youngest was only 2yrs old, so we kept her with the grandparents) and we’ve watched it as a family every year since that night. Our oldest is no longer at home with us, and one day DD20 will be completely moved out too, but my DH and I will still watch it every year for the rest of our days (and I’ll probably be emotional since I won’t have any kids at home anymore).

#3 - The High School Musical Movies - I have the best memories watching these movies with my girls. When HS Musical 3 came to the movie theater, that was a big deal for my girls, and I was actually teary eyed at the end when the characters graduated. After watching these movies, and listening to my girls rewatching them a zillion times, and listening to the soundtrack a zillion times, I felt connected with these characters. I still enjoy these movies and now me talking about them makes me want to watch them - LOL!

Good Morning friends :grouphug:

Slo, I need to watch The Polar Express. Keeping in prayer being able to take a Christmas themed train ride one day with my dad and maybe all of you too :)

Two extra touching movies of Faith on Hallmark and I believe Great American Family Channel. The Blessing Bracelet and The Gift of Peace.

I do enjoy the very first Santa Clause.

(Tues, 2/6) - 3 movies you're grateful for

DH and I watch so many movies, but I haven't thought for awhile about my favorite / ones I'm grateful for

1. The Notebook - not necessarily one of my favorite movies, but one of my favorite memories. When we were on a cruise with our kids, we were watching this movie on the deck one night. It started raining during the rain scene in the movie, so we sat there, somewhere in the middle of the Caribbean watching this movie in the pouring down rain! It was so much fun and something we'll never forget!

2. Breakfast at Tiffany's - we went to a drive in movie to watch this with the family before our oldest daughter left for college for the first time. We had such a great day - we went to the zoo, ate at a new-to-us restaurant in the Delmar Loop area and then went to see this at the drive in. DS rolls his eyes (definitely not his favorite movie), but it was super fun!

3. Shawshank Redemption - this is DHs favorite movie, so we've watched it many times. It just makes me smile when I think about this movie because I know it's DHs favorite!

1. Saturday Night Fever - I just wrote out a laundry list of reasons why I'm so attached to the movie, but it's still too long. It's one of my all time favorites for so many reasons and that SNF themed Capital One commercial this past holiday season made me so happy.

2. It's a Wonderful Life - I save it for Christmas Eve. I find myself feeling blue at this point. I really enjoy the holiday season and there's a certain sadness knowing that it's coming to a close. This movie always seems to get me back into a good place.

3. Mary Poppins - While I'm grateful for the entire Disney library of movies, Mary Poppins is my favorite. I guess I should also be grateful that this was never a fave of my girls. They watched it and liked it, but it was never one that they asked to watch 3x a day...every day...for months on end.

Today's Topic (Tues, 2/6) - 3 movies you're grateful for

The Passion of the Christ - saw it during Holy week in the theatre and I just bawled. It was powerful and moving but I've never watched it again.

Forrest Gump. Every time I see it on tv, I have to stop and rewatch it. There's just something about it that speaks to me.

Love Actually. It's a must-watch at Christmas. Between Hugh Grant's dancing and the notecards scene, it just makes me smile.

3 Movies.

Hmm. Just 3?! 😉 I'm grateful for so many!

Maybe it'll help if I stick to a theme. How about movies that moved me to a new perspective (big or small)...

The King's Speech ...I just think it says so much that he was much better able to relax and speak when he heard music rather than himself.

Dead Poet's Society "...You must strive to find your own voice..."

The Gathering Storm. ...So much.

ETA: I'm restraining myself from adding 3 comedies and 3 family movies and 3 musicals and 3 thrillers and 3 Tom Hanks movies and 3 Robin Williams...etc.!! 🤣

Now & Then - It's the last movie I watched with my mom before she passed, so it's kind of a comfort movie for me.

Seconding the Harry Potter movies - i love when there's a marathon of them on, and I know I'm watching them "with" other fans from all over.

The Sound of Music - because it's one of the few tapes I had when I was away at college (in the middle of nowhere) and couldn't get reception for regular TV.

At first glance, I thought you'd said "rugby"!

Rigby is such a sweet name for a pup. 😍

Thanks. It truly fits him too, lol. We are big Beatles fans and there are lots of names in songs for females but we were having trouble figuring out a name other than 1 of the Fab Four themselves and then one of us said there is Eleanor Rigby so maybe Rigby could be male?? We both take credit as we're really not sure which of us actually made the suggestion. 😉
