Three Things...Gratitude Thread

(Sun, 2/4) - 3 things you're grateful for that come or have come in the mail

1. Packages of things that we order online.

2. Cards - any kind of card - birthday, thinking of you, etc. We don't get many other than Christmas cards, but my church sends cards for birthdays and anniversaries, so we get those each year which is fun!

3. Rebate checks - I used to do all kinds of rebates and would receive (mostly) small rebate checks for whatever the offer was for. I don't do many now, and if I do, they are typically sent through paypal it seems, but I loved getting rebate checks back in the day!

@WDWEPCOT - I will agree with you on the Sears and Penney's catalogs. I would save them after Christmas even and I pretended that I ran a Children's home and it was my job to buy clothing for all of the children. I had lists of all of their sizes and I picked out everything for their wardrobes each season. Typing it out, it makes it sound like I had a shopping addiction, and maybe I did, but this was a free way to enjoy it lol!

Good Monday Morning
It’s the start of another week.

#1 - Remote Control (TV) - makes TV watching so easy

#2 - Recliner - I melt into it every night when we watch TV

#3 - RBIs - DD20 had the most RBIs on the team last season as a freshman in college. I’m looking forward to seeing if she can achieve that again this season. First game is 2/17, but the temp is going to be low 30s, so it may get rescheduled.

Rest & Relaxation - preferably on a beach or DISNEY Cruise 🚢

Remote Control- love having a remote control for the TV I know it seems lazy but it’s just so nice to be able to pick up a little item change the channel change the volume across the room and not have to walk to your TV to do it it’s so nice
Except when it’s not working and you can’t do anything with your TV because it doesn’t have buttons on it anymore that you can easily access🤣🤣

Radio - I love the radio it brings me Music and news I’m in it mainly for the music but will often listen to NPR or other for news and enjoy my Sirius so I can listen to all different kinds of music 🎶❤️

Today's Topic (Mon, 2/5) - 3 things you're grateful for beginning with the letter R

Raspberries! A delicious memory of childhood was raspberry jam on toast. I have loved raspberries all my life.

Roses growing in gardens. I love the peachy colors the best. If they have a fragrance even more so.

I’ll concur with @WDWEPCOT, Relaxing on a cruise! Our next one is in about 90 days away, DCL from San Juan to Ft. Lauderdale!

1. My Boss- His name begins with R. Nobody is perfect and it's tough for him because there's a lot on his plate. Still, work headaches aside, he's a pretty good guy to work for on so many levels.

2. My uncle- His name also begins with R. He passed a couple of years ago from matters with early onset dementia, but he added so much joy to my childhood.

3. Rice- It's not exactly my favorite food, but it's something that has a tremendous global impact and helps many in need through food insecurity issues.

R Things:
1. Remotes for sure
2. Rice—an easy side dish that my DH loves. I could go the rest of my life without eating it and not miss it at all, but I can make a big batch of it and he will eat it as a side dish for several days with different sauces.
3. Raspberries—especially black but red are good too. I like them fresh and by themselves—not in muffins or desserts or jelly or with sugar. I want to taste only the fruit I like them so much.

Good call everyone who said remote! I hadn't thought of that, but without it I'd be stuck watching a lot of programs I didn't choose because a cat crawled into my lap. :rotfl2:

Another vote for an Uncle who's name begins with R (today's inspiration because mine just had a birthday).

And Recycling ♻️

Good Morning:grouphug:

I loved all of your replies about mail. Thank you for sharing and spreading faith and love through it. Aw you are so welcome dear Leebee, more mail to soon come. Please remember each of you to just PM me if you would enjoy some happy mail. You always have my word that your personal information will never be shared.

Dusney4Us, does Reader's Digest still have some inspirational stories? Years ago I briefly worked at a small town laundromat. During times when clothes were taken care of I enjoyed Reader's Digests left on the counter with other older magazines from customers. I currently enjoy every other month a Guideposts subscription that was a Christmas gift from my dad. I was so blessed to find an incredible deal that is giving me 3 years for not much more than 1 year. Blessing to share them on in some way afterwards.

Thank you all again more than I can say for helping make my dad's birthday so very special yesterday. He was so touched and grateful. He still has most of his postcard albums (I made 10)! to look at today. An extra joy his birthday can be extended. I will share a picture or two later :)

Reading!

Reading; you beat me to it, @flyingdumbo127 !!
(should I now say 'riting and 'rithmetic? If you get that joke, you are as old as I am!)

Roses- they smell so lovely, and come in so many beautiful shades! Besides, shouldn't we always strive to stop and smell them?

Rutabaga- I love rutabaga, although growing up in New England, we always called it turnip!

I don't get much actual mail from the postman these days (that's why I went a touch off-topic ;)), but, like all of you, in the past, catalogs and travel brochures were so much fun. I know you can see it all online, now, but, somehow, browsing it all isn't quite the same.

RRRRR

The Radio. Especially BBC Radio 2. (And it's even better now I can listen live or stream shows I missed.)

Rivers. The tranquility. The flow. I love a river view where it disappears round a bend. And bonus points if there are weeping willows along the banks. ......As an aside, it always amazes me how wide some American rivers are; where you can't see the other side.

Railroads/Railways. They were especially horizon-expanding for me, when we were eligible for really good discounts as college/uni students. The smooth snaking of trains is also pretty satisfying! .......And if it's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ALL THE BETTER!!!!
