November, November...

As a kid, it was the time the funfair came to town. Somehow, having it in the November cold and dark -- wrapped up in hats, scarves and gloves and all the twinkling lights showing up so well in the dark -- made it sooo atmospheric. I can close my eyes and put myself right back there. 🎠 🌟 🎡

November is, also, when we remember all those who lost their lives during the different wars. 💜 ...Personally, we always take a poppy/cross down to a local memorial in memory of an ancestor who died (so young), more than 100 years ago, in WW1.

And, of course, crisp, sunny days and crunchy piles of leaves. 🍂

P.S. The hint of Christmas around the corner... :santa:

TGIF! :cool1:

I’m basing my answers on the top 3 things I would miss the most if I didn’t have them…

#1 - I’m grateful for my refrigerator - it’s almost 2 years old and I haven‘t broke it yet (I killed the last one - it died due to an unfortunate cleaning incident :headache:)

#2 - I’m grateful for my stove - since we don’t go out to eat very often or buy takeout, I use my stove every day.

#3 - I’m grateful for my washer & dryer - when one of these dies it’s always sooooo…..inconvenient.

Going with things related to homemaking for mine:

Inspired by the picture - a vacuum cleaner! (especially a little rechargeable hand-held one for quick messes)

Definitely seconding refrigerator/freezer! - I don't even like to imagine the illness associated with not being able to keep food cold.

Aaaand...a sewing machine - I don't use it a ton, but I'm really glad I have one and know the basics.

November things...
Thanksgiving, of course. I think this is my favorite holiday. I love the family gathering and dinner, without all the hoopla, expense, and over-the-top things associated with Christmas.

We have two weeks in NOvember without any labs being held; the week of Veteran's Day (University holiday) and of course THanksgiving week. We do a remote assignment during Vet's Day week and no labs at all during T-giving week. This gives me a chance to get grading caught up and the spare time I need to get the house straightened up and the Christmas planning/shopping started. it's really nice to have the time and not feel frantic, like I'm always behind.

I know this won't be popular, but I like that we turn the clocks back. Winter is cold and dark anyhow, and I love getting out of work, going home, and snuggling in. I am a morning person anyhow, so I enjoy the earlier sunrises, too.

Grateful to have in my home...
A Keurig coffee maker. I love coffee, and I love being able to have a freshly-brewed cup whenever I want it.

My new fridge. The fridge that came with the house was a side-by-side from the 1990s, and it was in tough shape. We used it for a couple of decades. I finally gave in and bought a 21 cu.ft. fridge w/dutch doors and a freezer on the bottom. I love it.

Our couch. It's a sectional, and I love to snuggle into the corner, wrap up in my blanket, and read.

National Easy Bake Oven Day- who knew??

EasyBake Oven- I always wanted one when I was a kid, but my mother said "Don't be ridiculous; we have a kitchen," My mother was not always imaginative, or kind. Santa brought one for DD the Christmas she was 6, and I had as much fun with it as she did!

Book Series- I don't know if Harry Potter qualifies as a "kid's" book, but series like Harry Potter, Magic Tree House (which we are currently reading with the resident 7-year old), Trixie Belden, Donna Parker, etc. (I have most of my Trixie books and will occasionally read one, just for the warm feeling it gives me inside!)

Thing Maker- this was a heating unit with metal molds. You'd pour the goop into the mold and bake it in the heating unit and VOILA! Rubbery toys! I can't imagine that this is still made, as the heating unit would get HOT. Maybe kids were smarter then and knew better than to touch hot things!

BONUS- Play-doh Fun Factory, where you'd squish the playdoh into and it'd extrude in different shapes, sizes, etc. We loved that thing! Also our Trolls, and the troll house!

Good Morning!

Quickie Answers today and my answers are things I loved as a kid and my kids loved too

#1 - Another vote for Play Doh

#2 - Everything Barbie

#3 - Dolls - For me, it was my Chrissy doll and for my girls it was American Girl dolls
