OK, I'm gonna try to catch up here. I have been on the road for a few days and fell behind:
Round things...
>My "wedding" ring, which is a replacement. I have lost 3 engagement/wedding rings for a variety of reasons. I am glad DH still has faith and confidence in me, and wants me to have a ring as a token of our commitment, even if I am not very good at holding on to them.
>Donuts, cookies, pies, cakes. I'm not a big sweets eater, but I like a few bites of something for dessert on occasion.
>I have two Millefiori glass paperweights, left to me by a dear aunt upon her passing.
September things...
>DD's birthday. She will be 30 on September 23. She is my only child and I love her dearly. She is my sunshine, and also my best friend.
>Being back to a set schedule. I love the long lazy summer that comes with working in academia, but it is nice once the fall semester starts and we are back on a "regular" schedule.
>Fall leaves. We are already starting to see fire orange and bright yellow on the uppermost branches of our maple trees.
Long weekends...
>An extra day to get everything done, so the weekend and its associated chores (laundry, meal planning, grocery shopping, etc) aren't as stressful.
>The chance to sometimes get away. This weekend, DD and I stayed in southern Maine on Friday night so we could make it to her hair appointment in Mass by 10am on Saturday. It took 6 hours to get her hair ballyaged, trimmed, and styled, but she looks fantastic! We went out to dinner, stayed at the Hilton-Boston/Woburn, and had a lovely time having late night cocktails and snacks in their bar. On Sunday we drove the long way home, so I could show her some of the places in Mass where I grew up, had lunch in Salem, etc. It is always harder to sneak in a weekend trip without that extra day that a long weekend gives us.
>The opportunity to be lazy and not feel guilty; after all, it's a holiday, right?
