Good FRIDAY Morning

Quickie answers today…..

#1 - My crockpot - using it today

#2 - Hot showers - using it in about 5 minutes

#3 - The Weather Channel app - used it 2 minutes ago to help me decide what I should wear to work today.

Decent at-home hair color. I am not ready to look as old as I am and can't afford to have my hair done professionally. (Had DD's ballyaged last weekend and it was $300 plus tip! Of course, we were there 6 hours... )

My sisters. One in Maine who I see fairly frequently, and one in NOLA who I don't see often enough. I'd be lost without them.

That we have gotten as far as we have. With both of us being in academia, we have never had very high salaries, but finally broke $100K a couple of years ago. It's not a lot in this day and age, but it's nice to be able to buy the national brands instead of store brand without feeling guilty, to be able to plan a couple of modest vacations a year. Little things, but there were years when we were on food stamps to supplement our income, with nothing left over for the "fun" things in life. In my 20s and 30s I thought I'd NEVER be able to buy a new car or own a home, much less vacation at Disney!

1. I second the at home color! I always got my hair done at the salon and one time my DD told me she would do it for me. After that, I started doing it myself to save all of the money! A couple of years ago, DH told me I should splurge on myself and start getting it done at the salon again. So, I did - one time. It's just so expensive and takes SO LONG! I would much rather do it at home now!

2. Beautiful fall weather!

3. My laptop - I would be lost without it!

Misc . . .

The internet. To say it is helpful is an understatement. Yes, there are some bad aspects, but there are with anything in life. To be able to communicate so easily with anyone, anywhere, at such a low cost is amazing.

Bed. So comfortable and comforting. I look forward to climbing in at the end of the day and dreaming my cares away.

Sunshine. I could use a little right now (it’s pouring and storming). Looking forward to blue skies and sunshine.

Happy Saturday everyone

#1 - I’m grateful for the banks we use - I trust them and one has been my bank since I was a child (going to it today)

#2 - I’m grateful for beef - especially a good steak or burger (steaks on the grill are on the menu here tonight)

#3 - I’m grateful for the birth of my girls - there‘s nothing in my life thats been more joyful than holding my babies for the first time.

Basement- I love having a basement! Or else am I gonna put all my junk??

Books !! - I love to read I do it every night for at least an hour usually longer and I like to read an actual book in my hands I mean I read on my phone all the time but I never could get into like a kindle like the feel of a book

Babies - back when I used to babysit 100 years ago I used to just babysit babies up to about age 3 but usually babies don’t know why I just prefer babies

Baskets - I got a thing for them I like collecting baskets I can always find a use for them and they look so nice

Beautiful blue skies !! I prefer looking at them while I’m laying on the beach
Although I will take them with a mountain backdrop as I’m sitting in a lodge because I’m not climbing the mountain it’s too cold up there and there might be that dreaded

Bread not every day bread no your fancy bread all different kinds

Bears I’ve always loved bears - I collect teddy bears since I can’t get a real one

Beef / bananas / bacon - three great foods

Books

My bedroom. Sometimes it's hard to have 3 generations living under one roof. My bedroom is my one place of peace and solitude.

I meant to say earlier, breakfast! Each day's breakfast is an added blessing to dad and I in its own. For me, I feel it's my first opportunity that new day to give God thanks for the day of life, for dad and for His presence at the table. New beginning. Yes, I enjoy very much my daily pancakes, too
