Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Yarn Bombing ?? I had to look it up !
So did I! It didn't help that, at first glance, I read it as 'yam bombing' and wondered what American tradition that could be!!!!

3 Artistic (especially quirky or outdoor)

1) In the UK, after the 2012 London Olympics a postbox was painted gold in every gold medal winner's home town. They were supposed to be temporary, but they were so popular they have remained.

2) Interior and exterior design. ...Homes, classrooms, gardens, Disney resorts(!) etc. I really enjoy all that.

3) We don't get too many buskers, but occasionally there's a particularly good one in the city centre and they can really add to the atmosphere.

Miscellaneous Monday:

3. I'm grateful for the rain we got this weekend. Our area needed it and we finally got some!
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

1) Rain is my first one for Monday, too. We had a good summer storm which freshened up the air and I opened lots of windows afterwards to cool the house. 🌧️⛈️

2) Essential oils. I'm not into selling them - they're not sold that way over here anyway - but for light personal care/first aid etc. they're great!

3) Somebody reminded me today how important it is to relax ...not in the distracting sense (though that can be good, too)... but 'actively' relax. I really appreciated that.

That's so cool!

And it reminded me of a couple temporary exhibits we've had in Boston before - one was of pianos, painted by local artists and installed in various parks and such for anyone to play (http://www.streetpianos.com/) and the other was cows (looks like they're doing that one again, as a cancer fundraiser, link: here.)

Oh and that reminds me of one I meant to include which was Moose in the City which was in Toronto ages ago. I love things like that. Did you hear many people actually playing the pianos?

Miscellaneous Monday:
1. I organized an extended family outing today and an happy to have that planned.
2. We had a fun game of pickle ball last night with me, DH and our younger daughters. I had never played before and I had fun (even though I was the worst of the 4).
3. We are very busy at work and that is always a blessing.

I'm out in the suburbs, so only saw them once or twice in the few weeks they were here, but they seemed quite popular.

Miscellaneous Monday:
1. Grateful for the rainstorm yesterday! It was needed.
2. Grateful the kids had a really fun first day at summer camps!
3. Grateful that the first round of my DD’s orthodontic work is largely covered by dental insurance.

Active things:
1. The exercise studio I go to, and the fun, supportive and kindhearted group of ladies I’ve met.
2. Skiing! That we have an activity the whole family enjoys.
3. The bonus workout you get when you go to Disney and walk around the parks, LOL! Especially when you push a stroller! :rotfl:

Good Tuesday Morning

#1 - I’m grateful for my gym membership - I love going there, even though I’m not going today (shhh…don’t tell anyone). I have a toe that is horribly inflamed from all the walking we did and I need to unpack.

#2 - I’m grateful for the two 1/2 marathons I was able to complete - finishing one of those is incredibly exciting and such a big accomplishment. I’d love to do another one, but my knees will not allow it.

#3 - I’m grateful for me being able to have the stamina to practice with DD19 - I love hitting balls to her and soft tossing to her - one of my favorite things to do. I told her she’s not allowed to touch a softball until July 1st so she can rest physically and mentally from a long spring season. Once July comes we’ll start spending time at the field again - I can hardly wait.

Active Things:

1. Taking walks around our neighborhood
2. Playing tennis (I need to get in better shape so I can start playing more often again)
3. Lots of walking on vacations - I'm always surprised my body can take it (I'm not very in shape), but somehow it always works out and I keep up with everyone. I think it's just the adrenaline!

I used to exercise but alas not any more as I’m very limited in what I’m allowed to do so….,,
I like to walk when I can - usually after I’ve received my steroid shot and my leg cooperates ! I enjoy walking my neighborhood and like others have said Disney - my only issue is I have a tendency to fall over nothing so I have to try and be super careful to watch for a speck of dirt for me to trip on and fall !! Seriously I’ve fallen so many times it’s insane - product of my surgery - I’ve fallen everywhere - every vacation every cruise every Country it’s my thing 🤣🤣 people on the ship know me - your the lady that fell - I’ve learned to lean into it - why be embarrassed ? I treat it as a teachable moment

I’ve tried water aerobics but the pool got filled with too much water, and I was afraid I was going to drown since I can’t swim - so I decided I’m not gonna do that

And that pretty much ends me being able to exercise since they won’t let me do anything else - I cannot use weights I cannot do anything else because my muscles are hyperflexia which means that they are always ready to snap like rubber bands ready to snap so I can’t do anything else because it will put me in a lot of pain. I am not telling you this so that you feel sorry for me. I’m telling you this is a teachable moment.
I really do miss being able to exercise. I used to do it every day. It’s some thing I do miss.

Active

1. DD has a dance party every night and shows me her moves. Y'all, there ain't a lick of rhythm or coordination, but lots of fun.

2. Swimming. We don't have a pool, but we go to my sister's and Great Wolf Lodge (Williamsburg) a lot. Plus Disney pools!!

3. Kickball in the backyard. We play this a lot and have tons of giggles.

I love kickball - they used to have kickball tournaments at my church. They were so much fun - everyone in the family can play!

Active

When I was a kid they'd have trampolines on the beach in the summer, which I loved. Hmm, maybe I need to get a trampoline now!

Being active in the garden - digging, weeding, painting, mowing etc. etc. I can't this week because I'm under the weather (nothing serious, just enough to keep me in), plus we have a mini heatwave anyway. Usually, I'm out there, though.

(A heatwave over here is into the 80s. I know that's not a heatwave to lots of you, but in our cold weather-oriented, very well-insulated houses without any air-conditioning - it is! :sunny:)

Dancing to your own rhythm. Stretching, in whatever way feels good. No rules, just moving your own body your own way.

1. Rocky Gap State Park. This park in western Maryland is about a four hour drive from my house. I visited for the first time last month for the casino, then went back last week, and earlier this morning made a reservation for next month. There is something about the trail that goes around the lake that I find just about perfect.

2.Kids in my church. They keep me active.

3. Darts. Walking back and forth (and bending down to pick up the darts that miss the board) is more exercise than I imagined.
