Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Dad enjoys drawing and I give thanks to a very kind Dis friend who has drawn needed pictures for a book project I'm putting together, too. Drawing for me=stick figures, lol :) As a P.S. Do any of your younger kids draw? I would appreciate a PM if they do, thank you!

Seasonal decorations bring much added cheer along with fun memory to create or purchase.

Sidewalk chalk drawings in Mary Poppins always touched me and I've thought would somehow make a great DL ride. PollyannaMom, how cool that your town had such art. I do remember years ago when I went to college in a small town up North, one weekend a year, the town square businesses and some non profits, too, had sidewalk chalk drawings. I don't remember now whether this was a contest that anyone could enter. Of course, kids love using sidewalk chalk to draw various things including hopscotch games :)

I do have some good memories of working at Art Camp at church.

Friends who sew/embroider. I don't even sew a button.

Of course, the artistic imagination of Disneyland theming!::MickeyMo

Kids last day of school on Friday, and the first day of Summer break yesterday left little time for me. Taking time for myself today and catching up!

3 Disney things you're Grateful for - Donald Edition
  1. The interactions between my son and Donald. He makes a great DD impression, and it always gets the silliest responses. We love it!
  2. Donald in the cartoons. He makes my kids laugh the most out of all the characters.
  3. The Donald and Daisy hard-billed hats you see in the parks. I had one in the 90s and thought it was so cool. Haha! It reminds me of that hat every time I see one.

3 skills or aspects of your personality you're grateful for
  1. Organization skills
  2. My ability to find the silver lining
  3. My attention to detail

3 Artistic Things You Are (or have been) Grateful For - Disney Edition
  1. The music! So grateful for the talented composers, musicians, and singers. Their ability makes us feel all the emotions while listening to their music.
  2. The art in WDW! From the art on the walls to the creativity and vision that goes into the parks and resorts. It's amazing. I love finding new to me details every time we go.
  3. And, of course, Walt Disney's artistic vision!

Skills/Personality:
1. Organized—I am good at managing schedules/household things.
2. Good at seeing both sides of issues.
3. Good decision making when I have time to consider my options and the pros/cons. On the flip side I am not good at making quick decisions.

Artistic:
1. The topiaries at Disney—so fun.
2. I used to enjoy the rose gardens at Epcot. There was a pathway that had the most beautiful assortment of roses.
3. I love the theming at Disney—beautiful and so artistic.

(Friday, 6/9) - 3 Disney things you're grateful for
1. My first Disney trip back in 2016
2. The Disney movies of the late 80s/early 90s that I grew up with... I remember how amazed everyone was with the ballroom scene in Beauty and the Beast because a lot of it (all of it??) was computer animated. Look how far we've come!
3. Just... that happiness and joy it brings to so many people

(Sat. 6/10) - 3 skills or aspects of your personality you're grateful for
1. Being flexible. Not physically. Ha! My supervisors at work always talk about how flexible I am, and yeah... I guess I am. I don't let changes get to me, usually.
2. Determination - When I'm determined to do something, I find a way to get it done. It may take me awhile to get TO that point, but once I am, my mind won't let it go.
3. Joy -- I know it comes from God, not me, but God has helped me have joy in life.

(Sun, 6/11) - 3 Artistic Things You Are (or have been) Grateful For (especially quirky or outdoor art!)
1. Does music count?
2. "Everyday" art in nature - I mean... can you look at a mountain scene and say it's NOT artistic??
3. Cartoons!

Artistic Disney things?

1. The music. Disney music, whether from movies, parades, etc., can move me to tears.

2. The design and interior decorating of the lobby at Animal Kingdom Lodge/Jambo House.

3. Although no longer there, the waterfall and gardens in the Poly lobby were artistic and amazing!

I'm not very artsy at all, but I definitely can appreciate it!

1. The only crafty thing I ever did was cross stitching. I used to do it on my way to work when it was not my turn to drive in my carpool. I got quite a bit done and enjoyed it, but really haven't done any since I started a different job 26 years ago that I don't have to drive far for (so no longer carpool).

2. Our town has started a new "arts council" which I think is so neat! I haven't been able to join any of the activities yet, but they have made it very novice friendly, so I'd feel comfortable going I think. The pic below is the last activity they did and they hung them up around town for everyone to see. They definitely bring a smile when you drive past them.

3. Our high school art teacher posts pic of her students' artwork on facebook and I love seeing everything they can do. So talented and creative!

Anything...

1. Despite open surgery with an 8 inch plus several other incisions, I am healing quickly, was released from hospital two days early (when they tell you to get out of bed and walk...do it!!), and signed off by the surgeon already. Just praying that the oncologist doesn't have a long treatment plan.
2. My family. My parents and sister/her family took care of DD while I was in the hospital. She had loads of fun. My sister is the cool aunt lol.
3. For modern medicine. I have a few more major other issues I'm dealing with, but I'm grateful for the knowledge, skills, technology, etc., that allow doctors to diagnose and treat us.

Any three things...
1. My support system- being my daughter (Sarah), my sisters (Julie and Sally) and my closest friends (Angela and Diane). I have been struggling with a knee issue since December and facing replacement surgery that has been postponed twice. It has been a stressful time, as much acknowledging that I am aging as it has been facing the surgery. These are the women who've kept me going, who've helped with everything, who've answered my messages in the wee small hours when I cannot sleep. I know my medical situation is minor compared to what others here have faced and are facing, but it's not been easy- and I would have had a much more challenging time this year if not for these women.

2. That we have good, solid, stable jobs and can ride out financial challenges. I won't kid you and say we are secure- DH and I both work (he has 1 full time and 2 part time jobs, I work full time)- but we have solid health benefits and enough income that I don't have to worry about buying "frivolous" things like a new Nook and cover for it, or a travel hair dryer (that is lighter and smaller than my usual hair dryer). That sounds trivial, but it's not, and for many years we had to choose between necessary things when something like a car repair came up. I am grateful for not having that worry any longer, of how to pay for what, what things can safely be postponed, etc.

3. THE SUNSHINE! It has been a foggy, grey spring here in Maine, with more cloudy, drizzly days than anything else. The past few days have started out sunny, and stayed that way for most of the day. I say that the weather doesn't affect my mood, but it sure is nice to see the sun again!

The crochet looks fantastic displayed like that! How uplifting.

Good Monday Morning Friends

I’ll narrow it down to our recent trip…..

#1 - I’m grateful that we had a good flights to and from Orlando - we arrived safe and sound.

#2 - I’m grateful that DD19 and I had a relatively flawless trip - we had an issue with her boarding pass in Chicago, my magic band blew off on Rockin Rollercoaster which was a drag and the rain/storms ruined a few things, but outside of that everything went smooth

#3 - I’m grateful that we got to ride rides we never rode before - the best one was Tron - I want to do it again and again!

I’m grateful for my first Bone Dr - bedside manner was horrible but surgeon skills stellar - the surgery was brutal but had to be done and he did an amazing job - can’t say that about my 2nd surgery - he did an alright job - I won’t get into all those issues

I’m grateful for my General Dr - I love this man ! He’s so nice and caring and funny ! I’ve know him for over 30 years and he’s just the best ! He trust my judgement about my body and what I think - hard to find that in a Dr - very grateful for him !!

Always grateful for my friends ! I have a very dysfunctional family so my friends are my World and I’m very grateful for each and every one of them !! ❤️❤️

Glad you are back safe and sound and had fun! Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Oh my, I had no idea you were going through so much. You always come across so cheerful and upbeat I would have never guessed. I wish you very fast and successful continued recovery! And yes, my kids have a cool aunt too—those are awesome—although she got a little less cool once she had kids of her own.

Miscellaneous Monday:

1. I'm grateful for my job to come to. Honestly my work ladies are like my second family in a way. We all get along well and share the ups and downs in each other's lives.

2. I'm grateful for the extended family trip we have planned for a couple weeks finally coming together! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time about it. I know we'll have a great time, but worried it will live up to my mom's hype I think!

3. I'm grateful for the rain we got this weekend. Our area needed it and we finally got some!

:thanks:all always for being kind bringers of:sunny:and cheer to all of us each day and to those you know offline as well! Each of you make a difference to me. Grateful to God for you.

Big :grouphug:Eksmama with my extra thanks to God indeed! Thinking extra of you, my friend🙏💕

Slo, I'm also so thakful to God that you and your daughter enjoyed a safe and fun::MickeyMotrio! Here's to your next WDW adventure!

As always, I love, all of your morning shares and truly thank you all so very much for keeping this loving thread of ours going each day!

Today, I give God extra thanksgiving for:

Being able to enjoy two worship services online yesterday and I pray thanks to Mailman Dad, sending out some extra 💌of faithful cheer this morning. Reminder to each of you in this thread, I don't think I have shared this yet, to buy extra stamps now before postage goes up again on July 9th!

Dad and I are so thankful he was able to reschedule a medical appointment from later Thursday afternoon to tomorrow morning.

This Father's Day week ahead. God willing being able to celebrate my beloved dad, both of us in health and together, safe. Memories of my Grandpa Sam and most of all, that I might every day cherish and celebrate my Heavenly Father.
