Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Three things that star with the Letter "I"
1. Ice Cream - Because I love it. My #1 comfort food
2. I have to also agree with Illuminations. Saw it for the first time on my Honey Moon and every trip there until it closed. I was so sad when they closed it.
3. Innocence. I love to be with children as they are so innocent. I wish I had some of that back.

1. My son's name begins with "I"
2. Islands - DH and I cruise as often as we can and we love visiting new islands
3. rolled Ice cream - I'm not a huge regular ice cream fan, but we discovered rolled ice cream when we went to Spring Training in 2020 and try to find some on every vacation we go on - it's kind of our new tradition!

Thank You for sharing your story - I’m sorry you have had to go through this but so happy your doing better - nothing worse than constant pain
I never heard of this in children - thank you for bringing this up - if I may inquire do the Dr know why you have osteoarthritis at such a young age ? The reason I ask I myself got it at a young adult age and was told a bunch of bs - so I’m curious what you were told - that stuff is painful and unrelenting I’ll tell you that !
I’m so happy you’re doing better it’s awesome you have found great drs and they are able to assist you ! Such a shame you are traveling this path but you are doing a great job and wearing it proudly educating others !

Today's Topic (Tues. 2/14 💕) - 3 Acts of Love You've Been Grateful For

(It doesn't have to be just romantic love. Also think of things your parents did for you, charitable acts you've been part of, and so on.)

My home life was horrible so I don’t have many acts of love from my immediate dysfunctional family - I have them from others - most nit related
My Aunt growing up - she was despised by my mother and didn’t care - she was a wonderful person - she was handicapped but didn’t let that stop her one bit ! She always had crafts for us to do - really cool ones - pack up these awesome lunches and send us outside on adventures in her huge yard - we were on safaris - just a cool Aunt - played games - I really miss her - she died of breast cancer when I was 22 🥲😞 my mother was nothing short of mean spiteful hateful vile and nasty to this woman and it forever left a mark on me - my Aunt was always caring and loving to my sister & me I can’t say that about my mother - I miss my Aunt daily - I’m grateful for her and everything she taught me and all the wonderful memories I have ❤️❤️❤️
I won’t break them out but I had a set of family friends no relations that were life savers to me growing up - all very dear to me and all very helpful / I can’t stress enough how much their acts of kindness meant to me and how much they helped me ❤️❤️
As an adult my DD brought home a young man from school -,they were in jr high so young - I could tell this boy did not have a good home life - over the next 6 years thus young man all but lived at my house and I helped encourage him to make wise choices with his life - they broke up senior year - he hit a rough patch and he thought / I would not be proud of him right now ( no I would not as I found out how he was acting - very smart young man drinking way too much ruining his life ) well this young man didn’t want ME disappointed in him and he joined the Service and he’s a fine young man now out of the Service earning 6 figured NOT drinking !! He’s been overseas for a few years but coming home in a couple months - he never told his father he joined - he told my DD & me - he’s not visiting his father he’s visiting friends & Me ! My point - please reach out and help kids you see are struggling you have no idea how much it means to them and it’s so rewarding to see them succeed / this young man overcame a lot and I’m so proud of him !!! I’m grateful to know him even if he didn’t become my son in-law although I still wish he had ! Truth be told so does he !

Today's Topic (Tues. 2/14 💕) - 3 Acts of Love You've Been Grateful For

(It doesn't have to be just romantic love. Also think of things your parents did for you, charitable acts you've been part of, and so on.)
1. People who stop to help others. not organizations, just people who stop when your car is broken down in the parking lot or road (happened a couple of times over the years), as an example.

2. the outpouring of love, support, and money from DH's friends when we were both out of work, and money was very tight (as in, he and I were eating one small meal a day so that the kids could have 3 full meals, and we had to have help for that two month paying rent and electric). His two groups (D&D gaming and Airsoft) got us through those months.

3. the people who go to danger zones around the world to aid others. People like Jose Garces and the WCK group, who seem to be at every single mass event, from the floods and wildfires in CA to the warzone in the Ukraine to the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Acts of Love

1. Both sets of grandparents. They loved me and my sister so much. They were always there for us.

2. When DH stood by me even in the darkest times and despite me hurting him in the worst ways possible.

3. Mission trips I was able to go on as a teenager. We traveled all up and down the east coast and in the Midwest. We would stay in people from area churches homes. So many volunteers and important work, even for teens.

All the acts of love I can remember surround food(it should really be a "love language" for me lol)
1. My gram's eggplant cutlets...it was such a process, but she knew I loved them so she would make them special for me
2. My husband coming home with something he knows I'll love when I am having a hard time
3. The occasional times I can get together with my close friends and meet up for dinner-we are all busy but make time every couple of months to make sure we can get together and "check in" with each other in person and vent, laugh, cry-whatever we need-all with good food and drinks

To each of you for the faith, kindness, friendship, and love you give and spread.

Servicemen and women of all types from military to ministers to parents to mail carriers to again truly in a way each of you. Thank you for the difference you make as called by God.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

My acts of love are:
1. My Daughters Birth Parents choosing us to be her parents, going through the pain of saying goodbye to her at the hospital, and making the loving choice to still be part of her (and our families) lives. They gave her a home they were not ready to provide, but have always let her know that they love her and want the best for her. It can really be awe inspiring.
2. A good friend caring for her Mother in her home for 6 years as she was ailing and slowly dying. She was then able to share with me as I was starting to do the same thing, and she was a great example for me. The love she had for her Mom, and the love she showed me as I dealt with the stress of my own situation. We chose to place my Mom in a home after 3 years as she had requested when she moved in with us, but she cared for her mom until the end. We both lost our Moms this past several months, and that has been a loving support as well as we bond over life after Mom when they were such a huge part of our lives.
3. The little things my family do for me on the daily that show me the love they have for me. Things like my DD coming and leaning on me, or pushing the dog out of the way so she is touching me when we are watching TV (she is almost 14 and claims that she doesn't like to be touched, but is always touching me). And my DH rubbing my back or playing with my hair when he is just passing by.

Happy Hump Day

Sorry I missed yesterday - I hope you all had a nice VDay ❤️

#1 - I’m grateful for The Indianapolis 500. I have lots of great memories at the speedway. I haven’t spent much time there since DD24 was born. This is my DH’s favorite event of the year - he’s gone to every race since he’s been 7 years old - he is now 52.

#2 - I’m grateful for somewhat easy weather. We grumble about the snow and cold, but we don’t have earthquakes, hurricanes, constant huge snow amounts, constant tornado threats, wild fires and so forth. We do have our bad weather moments, but not like other states and for that I’m very grateful.

#3 - I’m grateful for my town of 51 years of my life. This is a great Indiana town and I’ve enjoyed spending my life here. I don’t think we’ll stay here after we retire, but who knows.

I have two "home" states - NY, where I grew up, and MA, where I live now.

For New York:
mountains/hills - I love the natural beauty of the area where I lived, especially in the fall 🍁

For Massachusetts:
the beach - when I moved here, it was one of my favorite new things to enjoy :beach:

the intellectual environment - we have a lot of universities, excellent hospitals, etc.

Ooh we have so much here
Our World Famous free St Louis Zoo ❤️❤️❤️
That lovely Arch
Art Museum right by that awesome zoo
History Museum
Visit those beautiful Clydesdale horses At Grants Farm ❤️❤️
I could go on and on - great place to do stay at home Vacation so much you can do cheap or free - I’ve done this several times when my DD was little - lots of family friendly things to do
Six Flags - we have one with a water park but after Disney I’m like who cares but the kids enjoy going during the summer & fall and it’s so cheap
my main issue is going downtown - not safe - it’s getting bad in the county too but really bad in the city - keeps people from going downtown the crime is so bad but like I stated it’s getting that way in the county too - way too many shootings / car stealing / break ins / robberies - case in point DD was downtown at new restaurant venue two weeks ago shoot out with police within 15 mins if arriving at venue 😳 they all left while shoot out was happening 😳😳 so yes we have a lot of nice things I’m grateful for that I’ve enjoyed over the years but I’m to a point I don’t go and enjoy them because the crime is really bad - I’m praying the police get this under control soon 🙏🙏

Pennsylvania

Amusement Parks - We’ve got a great selection including Knoebels, Hersheypark, Kennywood and Waldameer.

State Parks - I remember as a kid a commercial with the Governor saying there’s a state park within so many minutes/miles of every resident. Now I can actually appreciate that.

Blackjack - When the state first allowed casinos to open they established certain rules for table games, including blackjack. Now, every casino has to offer these rules which are relatively good for the players…better than a lot of other locations anyway.

Home state is NC which I miss tremendously

1. The beautiful beaches...Outer Banks, Emerald Isle, Oak Island...

2. The beautiful mountains...Biltmore, Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone...

3. The military...grew up mostly at Ft Bragg, largest army base. Dad was stationed several times and my husband at the Air Force base that was there at the time.

I didn't include VA where I am now. Hate it.
