Let's make

Today's Topic (Sat. 1/28) - Toys & Games You Are/Were Thankful For
1. Mille Bournes

2. Clue

3. Ticket to Ride
Today's Topic (Sun 1/29) - 3 things you're grateful for that begin with D
1. donuts

2. dogs

3. dimples
Inspired by all the "Dad" answers yesterday...

We've had several specific categories that included various people, but just in case we missed someone in your life...

Today's Topic (Mon 1/30) - 3 People You're Grateful For
1. The person who donated their kidney when they passed away, that gave DH a new lease of life.

2. Teachers.

3. people who work in animal shelters. That must be a hard job, mentally.

HiddyHo and Happy Monday!

I actually didn’t mention my Dad….shame on me

#1 - I’m grateful for my step-dad (RIP) that raised me since 3yrs old and also for my biological dad that came back into my life in 2015 - God stirred his heart to be a part of mine and my mom’s life again - very blessed (very very long & good story).

#2 - I’m grateful for my neighbor who is always keeping watch over our house when he’s home and we’re not home. We live at the end of a dead end and our front door is not visible from the road (the original owners were robbed), so if someone is in our driveway he’ll always text us and ask if we’re home to make sure that who’s in our driveway, should be in our driveway.

#3 - I’m grateful for my grandpa (RIP) who taught me so many things (I was very close with my grandparents). I have the best memories of us playing ping pong, pool, our bike rides, flying kites, walking to town on Sunday mornings to get the Sunday paper and so much more. I loved spending a lot of my childhood with my grandparents - great memories!

Games:
Flashlight tag when my kids were little and winter was long and slow.
Dodgeball when I was a kid, it taught me that I could take more than I thought.
Red Rover as a kid taught me strategy, that people will bond based on affection not strategy & that was very useful.

Sunday:
Dancing, going to clubs and being free as a young adult gave me a lifesaving outlet away from crazy
Dogs and their snuggles
Divine intervention, more often than I can count I have been inexplicably spared

People, only real family I ever had:
DH
DS
DD

People
Still grateful, of course, for all the people I've mentioned before! - DS, DH, parents, in-laws, grandmothers... Adding in a few I don't think I've noted:

DH's friend G~~~, who is our go-to "so much handier than we are" person who helps us with a ton of projects. (He also feeds our cats when we're away!)

My Aunt M~~~, a retired teacher and amazing grandma, who sets a wonderful example of what I still want to be doing when I reach her age.

John Williams, for the music in so many of my favorite movies!

An Aunt I had growing up - very fond memories of her - she was handicapped but still did everything - she taught me so much - was a huge part of my life and sadly died when I was a very young adult - I miss her daily
A very dear friend from school who also sadly died - miss them more than I can say ! Think of them daily ! Their impact on my life can’t be measured
A woman I used to babysit for - she was like a lifeline to me - my home life was horrible and she was a saving grace to me - she was a very dear friend who taught me a lot ( how to drive ) and kept me at her house most of the time ! She was going through a divorce but was still caring and concerned for me ! Such a strong beautiful person !! I learned a lot from her about life

3 People You're Grateful For

All who I have previously mentioned as well including my dad, grandparents, friends here on earth and who have gone onto Glory before me, and forever Jesus first and foremost!

Today I am also grateful for/to think about

1 Joyce at the laundromat. I'm thinking of her because 2/1 will be her birthday. Prayers she is enjoying her new job at a different laundromat. Dad and I meanwhile are always thankful for her replacements Kimberly and Ingrid.

2 All delivery people who continue to go the extra mile for all of us during the ongoing pandemic.

3 Elderly friend Ruth who will be 97 in a few weeks.

1. Those teachers who were outstanding role models, really cared, and inspired me to do what I do.

2. Those doctors who went above and beyond to provide expert medical care with kindness and empathy.

3. Strangers whose names I do not know that came to my rescue in emergency situations.

I'm out of the loop! (Life stuff.)

D

Driving

Dancing (like no one's watching) (preferably when no one's watching :rotfl:)

Dads (especially mine ❤️)

Denim ...jeans, jeans, jeans!

Dungarees (I had a favorite pair when I was about 10 and wore them all the time to school. Now, I haven't worn dungarees for years, maybe I should get a pair... 😉)

My Duvet.

Dusk - such a lovely time of day, especially in the summer.

Daffodils (soon be time)

And Donald Duck! :donald:

I promise to do better at sticking to 3 for the next one! My excuse is I'm just getting back into the swing of things!!!

And 3 people

Aside from family,

Family friend D, like an aunt or Godmother, with the kindest of hearts.

Family friend S ...and her family (they were 'our' family to visit/celebrate/vacation with through my childhood. We were so luck to have one another.)

N, the best manager I ever worked with. I learnt so much from him. He saw and appreciated the individual in the worker.

John Williams, for the music in so many of my favorite movies!

Yes! 😍 John Williams is an international treasure!

I'm re-watching the original Jurassic Park movies (2 down, 1 to go) and his music is so distinctive and evocative. Somehow, he has managed/manages to compose that way for movie after movie.

Do you have a favorite soundtrack of his? It's really hard to pick one, but if pushed, I'd probably choose E.T..

1. My Husband - don't even want to think what I would do without him. He has been my rock this past week and a half since my Mom passed away.
2. My friend Debbie. She pulled together a family luncheon for my family this past weekend, and let me focus on everything else.
3. My DD13 friend (crush) who not only makes her so happy, but is really good to her and helps her so much. He has even started interacting with us, and seems to be a fun guy. I just love hearing DD laughing while they hang out on Zoom!

Not really; they're all so good!! If I had to choose, probably Harry Potter. But the reason he was in my head was actually a concert I caught part of on PBS the other day, so it was a mix of some of his best pieces I was thinking of.

Yikes….it’s cold here this morning
So….happy cold morning 🥶

#1 - I’m grateful for airplanes, because I just can’t be away from work long enough for us to drive to far places.

#2 - I’m grateful for Magic Bands at WDW so I don’t have to hold on to everyone’s tickets and worry about losing them or forgetting them.

#3 - I’m grateful for all the little travel sized items we buy - they are overpriced, but there’s something exciting about buying them, because you know you’re going somewhere fun with them.

1) I'm currently grateful to be planning a trip to Florida - our first time back since our canceled 2020 trip. We will be visiting family and spending a few days at Universal. - I'm grateful for the wonderful planning resources here on the DIS, and for the tips videos I've been watching on YouTube to get excited. Planning is definitely part of the fun for me!

2) I'm grateful for all the fun local things DS and I used to do on his school breaks. We would get library passes to the museums in Boston, visit different playgrounds, etc. We even used put up a poster board in the spring and add summer ideas to it as we thought of them.

3) A summer program my mom signed my brother and I up for as kids. I still remember some of the games and recipes we learned, and it included swimming lessons too!
