Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I'm grateful for my brother - He lives a lot closer to my dad than I do, and does so much for him!

I'm grateful for my sister-in-law for all the advice she gave me when DS was a baby and she was already an experienced mom.

I'm grateful for DH's lodge "brothers" - They're always ready to lend a hand to each other's families when needed.

Good Morning!

This is a tough one for me, because I truthfully have no one that qualifies for this. I have friends, but not friends like that, I used to, but thet have since either faded away totally or we just don’t have that type of relationship anymore.

I’ll enjoy reading other people’s answers 🙂

Thank you so much SLO you truly are family to me not like my family God forbid but like family should be I am very and forever so grateful that God brought us together you are always there for me not judging but always supporting and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for our continued friendship you mean the world to me! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I met another person on the board several years ago we shared a cruise together and we have remained friends for over a decade she lives across the pond and we talk every day and she is a very good friend and has been there for me and I’m very grateful for her

Having gone through a major life event I got the opportunity to truly find out who my friends were I lost one person that I thought was a friend and I’m very grateful that I found out that they were not but I’m exceptionally grateful that I was given the opportunity to find out who my true friends were and I’m very blessed to know who they are and that they are in my life I cherish them very much and I appreciate the fact that they are there for me and I have been there for them something I never received from my own sister

I have two coworkers they are former coworkers but I am very close to both of them and talk to them almost every day and I have very close relationships with both of them and I am very grateful for both of them I can’t imagine my life without them

This is also tough for me as most of the friends that I held in this regard have faded into my past. I've been struggling with this of late as I approach a college milestone and question if the relationships were really as meaningful as I once thought they were. I'll spare you all from the depths of my existential crisis 🙃 but this topic has been weighing on me a lot over the last few months.

T - We have our ups and downs, go through phases where we don't talk as much, and definitely have our boundaries in things we can and cannot discuss...which limits how much I can vent. Still, we've been friends for over 2 decades and I'm grateful to have her there.

Gramps R - While he's one of about 8 people in this mix of family friends, he is the tie that binds...the glue. He has known DH since preschool and has been in my life for nearly 30 years. No, I wouldn't confide in him with my life secrets but with my parents living so far away and my MIL being out of the picture (even though she's part of his friend group), it's nice to have someone in the mix of this generation like that who is also close to home, so warm and loving, and so generous with his time and resources for his loved ones.

All of the school "friends" on social media - I know I started this by sharing how I question it all, but it is nice to see so many of them on there and get little glimmers of what once was.

I'm an only child. Grandma will always be who I think of as my mom. When I was growing up God did also place some younger adult women in my life who I thought of an extra mom in a way. I don't think I ever felt like that in terms of a sibling. How blessed we are by all who touch our lives. All of you have brightened up mine, thank you :)

My sister and I are very close in age, but have never been really close. So different. But we’ve gotten closer in the past couple of years and I appreciate being able to text her and ask her questions about when we were young.

My sister-in-law is really more like a sister to me and I can’t imagine life without her. We are each others’ support systems. We both make sure to listen carefully and give each other equal time to vent on our hours long phone calls.

My college BFF and I can go several months without talking, but when we finally do, it’s like no time has passed. We also have to schedule our phone visits because they are so long.

Siblings:
  1. My big sister: We used to fight a lot as kids, but as adults, we're best friends! She's always there when I need her. She's more together than me, but she still makes mistakes sometimes, so I don't feel bad about being imperfect.
  2. My late little sister: No one has had a bigger impact on my life. She was sweet, funny, super cute (she always looked about half her age), and she taught me so much about life. She had so many challenges and so much pain in her short life, and still always strived to make life better for others who were more disadvantaged.
  3. My DSIL: She's smart, cool, and does great work as a physical therapist with veterans! She also has had a lot of physical/medical challenges, but she doesn't let it get in her way. I admire her a lot.
I don't have any brothers or BILs, that's why mine are all women/girls. I'm sure if I had one, he'd be up there, too.

Good FRIDAY Morning! :yay:

#1 - The Seasons - The order I like the seasons from most to least…..summer, fall, winter spring.

#2 - My puppies for legs - It’s always sad to see a 3 legged animal.

#3 - The 4 Characters at ‘Ohana for breakfast - Mickey, Pluto, Lilo & Stitch

Tires 🛞 I’ve said it before you need good tires
Buy two get two free - a store I love does this sale once a year on the whole store and you can stack up to 2 coupons on top of that plus free gifts for spending certain amounts - very grateful for this sale

Socks - usually you can get either one set of socks or group of four sets - I like getting the group of four !!

Quadriceps - As my gym days become more regular I am reminded of that group of four leg muscles that I work extra hard on leg day that are so crucial for physical movement.

The Four Seasons - In this case, I'm actually referring to the musical group...since our area doesn't get well defined seasons. I've always really enjoyed the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Classical Music Quartets - I've been part of a number of them over the years (usually SATB or S1/S2/A1/A2), but I'm also a big fan of string quartets (2 violins, viola, cello). Brass quartets (2 trumpets, French horn, trombone) and woodwind quartets (some mix of clarinet, type of sax, oboe, bassoon, flute, or piccolo) can also be really nice.

!. My Wife
2. My son.
2 The Neurology ER doctors at our Local Hospital

Woke up 2 AM this past Tuesday and cleaned up after our sick and dying cat.
Went back to bed and woke up normally at 6:30 I thought,,,,, but had a stroke and was paralyzed.

Wife got my son to drag my ragdoll body out to the car and rushed me to the ER.
A staff of neurology doctors received me.
Within minutes they injected a new version of TPA and it dissolved the clot on my brain,, paralysis gone.

The lesson when someone in the family has a stroke, don't hesitate to rush them to the ER.
You only have a 4 hour window before the clot damages the brain.

God Bless your puppies dear Slo, I love that answer. Hug extra to you Dive Bar Casanova.

God willing when I am home soon, I will once again enjoy 3 very small plain pancakes while dad enjoys 1 big blueberry pancake. 4 total pancakes :)

I am not a thrill ride person at all and neither is my dad. Four of our favorite Disneyland rides are: Dumbo, Small World, Alice in Wonderland, and Pooh.

I am truly blessed to have 4 healthy fingers plus one thumb on each of my hands.

Snow White can be a top 4 of you immediately look to your right and see the kitchen...best themed 10 feet at Disneyland...my tall tale is that Walt wanted his "child" attraction to be highly themed... but after folks saw what he did with the kitchen... they said no way is that happening by park opening... hence when you leave the clocks.....
