Three Things...Gratitude Thread

While I still have a ways to go before I hit my goal point to shift to maintenance approaches, I started modifying my diet back at the beginning of November...about a month before I started getting back into working out. So, my gratitude is going to be for the foods that have kept me on track so far or that I have discovered in this process...

Turkey Breast - My husband has been buying these big turkey breasts at Costco each week. Most days, I just cut a serving or two into cubes and turn it into some kind of salad (I think it's like 60 calories a serving). Some days, that may be more like a turkey version of chicken salad, but with avocado mayo (supposedly the best mayo option) and maybe some celery and herbs. Last night, I mixed it with actual avocados, sunflower seeds, and balsamic vinegar.

Eggs - I know prices are high, but eggs are filling and full of protein. Some days, I just have a couple of hardboiled, while others I may scramble a few with some bell peppers and onions.

Marshmallows - OK, I know this does not sound like a healthy food but hear me out. I'm a very psychological eater. Those larger campfire sized marshmallows are big enough to make my mind think it's getting a larger sweet treat, but they have so much air in them that it's a fraction of the sugar/caloric intake of eating pieces of chocolate, nougat or caramel in that size. They also don't have the fat of those treats. I freeze them to make them feel a little more dense during consumption. In any event, once I started having 4-5 or so larger marshmallows (about 100 calories) for a sweet treat, it kept me from even thinking about the leftover chocolate from Christmas and Valentine's Day. Last time I got back to my proper weight, I cut added sugar altogether, but I'm trying to keep some in there this time since I think my cuts last time were too severe and eventually led to binging.

As a kid, we did a lot of driving through the Mohave and I've been to Joshua Tree National Park a few times, that's about it.

3 foods:
  1. frozen mixed veggies - I have ADHD and these are a lifesaver
  2. hot sauce
  3. brownies - these should not be mixed with the first two
I grew up there till 12 years... spent more times in the village foothills than in the inside park boundary.. when visitors came we went into the park

Avocado 🥑 🥑.. thankfully our border chain store has inexpensive access to the fruit from Mexico.
At ,4 for a dollar I will be able to monitor inflation.... will have to cut back on Starbucks

Celery....the senior citizen stomach soother...no cream cheese or peanut butter 😋 😋. What I have discovered is putting the stocks in glass of water.. really juicy

Oranges.... can't eat them 😭 😔 now at my age... but those trees blooming now OH my goodness.. Macy's perfume counter all over again

Good Wednesday Morning!

#1 - Baby Carrots - It’s my puppy’s new favorite treat. All I have to do is shake the container and he comes running.

#2 - Cheez-Its (are these yellow or orange? I consider them orange) - my favorite crunchy side item to have with my lunchtime sandwich. I count out 15, which is the perfect amount for me.

#3 - Sweet Potatoes - I love love love sweet potatoes. I eat them throughout the entire year

ORANGE

My "new" Brooks - I got a new pair of Glycerins a little over 3 weeks ago and they are neon orange. I put new in quotation marks because I've already got over 80 miles on them.

My Stanley Quencher - It usually gets filled several times a day and ensures that I stay hydrated.

Casual/lifestyle sneakers - In addition to the running shoes, I have two other pairs of casual orange sneakers. I have a cute pair of New Balance that are sort of like a creamsicle as far as the colors go and a pair of Adidas with a platform sole. Those are also bright orange and the stripes accents are baby blue and purple.

Orange safety cones 🚨🚨🚨
They set the boundaries of the Wednesday vendor market .. help define handicap parking at the entrance and keep at bay the vendor who wants to park at the entrance..so I have to define 8 spaces for customers at the gate

My orange 🦺 🦺 🦺 🦺.. I facilitate vendors on the grass...a secondary vending area...the asst. Pastor tells the vendor that you with the fellow in the 🦺 🦺 🦺 and vendors don't like the grass as we are off the parking lot where the % of folks stroll... only a few folks are actually shopping

Orange garage sale signs... so much easier to read addresses

Cheddar goldfish
Halloween decorations, especially in the MK
From my distant past: My favorite ice cream to get when the Good Humor man came around was the Humorette, an orange creamsicle (orange ice on the outside, vanilla ice cream on the inside)

Happy Thursday Friends

#1 - My bed - Wonderful layers of comfyness - top sheet, blanket & comforter

#2 - Cold Weather Wear - normally a tank top, long sleeve shirt or turtleneck and then a sweater or sweatshirt

#3 - Homemade Lunchables - Ritz Cracker, cheese and very thinly sliced salami or ham. I love making these for myself.
