I'm a little behind...
March-
Corned Beef - Most of the family hates it, but with St. Patrick's Day approaching, the grocery store has lots of them for sale. I've learned to spare the family the cabbage element and just do corned beef and potatoes.
March Madness - Granted, it's been a while since I've had a season to really get me into it, I do enjoy the tournament and trying my hand at brackets.
District Play - March marks the start of district play for school ball. This is when the games start to count and all of that warming up in non-district matchups, tournaments, and preseason scrimmages pays dividends.
Rhyming-
Dr. Seuss - While not my favorite, one of the most rhyme heavy books is running through my head right now (Fox in Socks). I used to be able to recite the entire thing, but now I only have the first 4-5 pages in head.
Memory Tricks - There are a number of tricks and mnemonic devices that employ rhymes to help you remember things better.
Song Lyrics - While not all of them rhyme, there are definitely a lot of catchy tunes that use this trick to make the song work.
Animals/Nature
Birds - In addition to miles upon miles at home on my stationary bike, I am now trying to walk every day. Even my break day usually involves a light .5-1.5 mile walk. I've been treated to a lot of birds in the process. The cardinals are out in full force, I've been witnessing a boom in our bluebird population, lots of egrets and herons of late, the pelicans have been flocking, several kinds of ducks, yesterday I saw what I believe was a hairy woodpecker fly into a tree on the branches right above me, and this morning I had a big pileated woodpecker go soaring overhead. Not much in the way of birds of prey right now, but hawks, owls, falcons and even bald eagles are pretty common around here.
Town Green Belts - Our town has about 75 miles of green belt trails. The tree cover is a bit more bare since Beryl back in July, but I'm so grateful to be able to walk down the street, hop onto a trail and feel like you've disappeared into a forest. I have a walking pad in the event of inclement weather, but there is something so freeing about getting out into nature for a walk.
National Parks/Monuments - I am a huge fan of our parks. I know not everyone is into nature (I've had friends cringe at the idea of going on even just a drive through the mountains), but I really wish more people would see some of them in person to get a firsthand perspective of how awe inspiring they truly are and how critical it is that we do everything possible to preserve and protect them.
