Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy Sunday Morning :grouphug:

Homemade or perhaps made at home every day memories are so precious to me and a gift from God to get to create with my dad.

Dad and I enjoy making homemade or personalized seasonal wall signs for our kitchen. I would love for us to make homemade Christmas ornaments sometime.

Homemade or personalized cards or notes. A dear friend is so kind to send me a personalized bookmark each Christmas.

Homemade Things..........

Homemade bread baking does smell good 😋, but I'm going to say

Freezing extra portions of homemade meals. It's such a lovely feeling getting out a home-cooked meal with the ease of something store-bought.

Home-mixed lotions and potions with essential oils.

Garden planters. We have a few. Not made by me, I might add!!

For Christmas, my son-in-law's grandmother always gives us veggies and jams that she cans herself. She makes awesome corn relish, dilly beans, and strawberry jam!

DD made ice cream the other night, using high fat Cabot vanilla yogurt. It was delicious! She is always 'up' for trying out different ice cream recipes, and is pretty talented in coming up with her own recipes.

My mom made our clothes until we were in high school, and after that made all my formal dresses. I had some really stunning gowns, and nobody else was ever wearing the same dress as I was! She also made all kinds of things for DD when she was young, until she was about 8 years old. DD has kept all of them- dresses, sunsuits, halloween costumes, aprons, quilts, sweaters, even scrunchies. She loved her nana so much!

Good Monday Morning

Well, this is gonna be hard to narrow it down to three - LOL!

#1 - My Memories - This will always be #1. I am very grateful that we were able to afford to take our children to Disney World starting when they were babies. The memories and the photos are absolutely priceless. I have a lot of nice Disney items, but nothing compares to my memories and my photos.

#2 - Figurines - I have different Disney figurines throughout my house. Sadly, they don’t make these anymore, which is probably good for me, because that means I can no longer buy any - LOL!

#3 - Dooney & Burke and Coach Purses - I love my Disney purses, and I love how my DH enjoys buying them for me for birthday and Christmas gifts.

Happy Monday friends

Dad and I God willing will visit ::MickeyMo::MinnieMonext May and create new memories together including a picture taken of the two of us with our favorite mouse couple together.

Being at Disneyland is a joyous feeling tbat had always brought me cheer. Who doesn't smile to see kids lit up faces and while getting to fly with :dumbo:?

Candlelight Processional is something dear to my heart that God willing I will get to view again.

Homemade...
1. Ornaments - I'm always impressed when someone can take a basic ornament or something that's not traditional an ornament and turn it into something with a real wow factor.
2. Cakes from scratch - I'm not sure if it's just modern cake mixes (preservatives) or something that happened with my taste buds after I started baking from scratch, but there is a significant taste difference when someone takes the time and effort to measure out all of the ingredients. It definitely feels special.
3. Jewelry - We just saw my mom and dad. My mom is super crafty and sent us home with some jewelry she made after buying some turquoise in New Mexico.

Disney...
It's like you read my mind!!!
1. YESTERDAY!!! I am grateful for the 3 hours DD16 and I got to spend at WDW yesterday. She was playing a showcase in Clearwater, FL this weekend. I chose to save about $550 by flying out at 5:30am this morning instead of yesterday evening which gave us some free time in FL after her last game. I booked an ADR and we drove from our hotel in St. Pete to WDW for a drive around the Epcot resorts, a trip around the monorail loop, and dinner at 'Ohana (mostly covered by rewards dollars). We even got a glimpse of a beautifully illuminated SSE as we were driving out.
2. The Memories - Little impromptu visits like yesterday really stir up the memories. As we drove by YC, it occurred to me that exactly 12 years ago, we were staying there for DD16s surprise birthday trip. It really got the stories flowing. By the time we made it to 'Ohana, we were reliving all of our meals in the Poly. The table diagonally behind us was where we sat the first time we dined there with the girls. We also were thankful for working monorails yesterday evening as it reminded me of our 2010 trip where there was a massive transportation meltdown and we missed our late evening 'Ohana ADR.
3. The smells - They've changed a bit over the years (especially the Poly) and the normal scents were scaled back in the GF last night to help you pick up the scent of gingerbread. Still, during our pop-in to the Contemporary, we got a few strong whiffs of classic Disney resort scents and it just gave us all of the magic bubble vibes. DD also picked up the scent of her hand sanitizer while we were in the Poly which was nice. Really peculiar, but when we were back by Trader Sam's I actually caught something that smelled more classic Poly...like back in the days of the big lobby water feature.

Going to try to catch up:

Good Tuesday Morning!

#1 - Warm or Hot Water - I’m so grateful that we have hot water for nice hot showers, hygiene with washing hands, washing clothes and more.

#2 - Ice - As in from your refrigerator/freezer - I’m grateful to always ice made and ready to use. You don’t realize how much you use it until you don’t have it anymore. Our last refrigerator had an ice machine that died and was unfixable - I really missed our ice maker when that happened.

#3 - Vitamins & Supplements - I’m very grateful that these are available for everyone to buy to keep us healthy. Since I can’t eat most vegetables and fruits, I really need my vitamins and supplements.

Good Morning friends!

Dad realized yesterday morning our kitchen wall clock had stopped running because it needed a new battery. The clock is fine now. Time, by my faith belief, is such a precious gift from God. Thank you all always for spreading faith and kindness. Please tell someone you love or care for that they matter to you. Do it today. Please do not wait!

Positive memories past and God willing those to still be made. My beloved late grandma had dementia. Cherish moments big and small. Every day and otherwise.

On this cooler morning I will be extra grateful to the microwave for heating milk for hot chocolate and my dad who I cherish for makinh it for me.

Oooh, time is a good one!

And I'm definitely grateful for indoor plumbing - both the hot water mentioned above and working bathrooms.

And I'm adding traffic lights. It's something we're often not grateful for when we're waiting at one  - but they really do make driving more predictable and civilized.

That is so true! It's like the Wild West when power goes out here and knocks out the traffic lights. Even when they come back up, people still don't know what to do with them when they're just flashing.

Mobility - You don't really think about the day when you're not going to be able to get around as well, especially when it's not a temporary sort of thing.

Bedding Materials - Even though I know it's a possibility at some places, I just don't think about what's in my pillows and blankets until I learn the hard way that they're filled with feathers. It's usually a mix of really unsettling dreams and waking up in the morning feeling sick and drained. I'm also be grateful for hotels that have alternatives on hand.

Good Service/Things Going as Planned - We tend to remember bad service and negatives more than the positive experiences. It's like the struggles to make things right have a more profound impact than life going smoothly. So, here's a shout out to all of the times people got it right.

Today's Topic (Tues, 11/19) - 3 things you might normally forget to be grateful for
Ah I just came back from France and it TRULY made me to always remember to be grateful for:
1. Accessible public restrooms
2. Free public restrooms
3. Hot water in restrooms

If you've been to Paris, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Their lack of public restrooms is a known nuisance to many tourists. Sometimes even if they are available, you have to pay. That's not new for European countries but still very annoying. These days, some even set up credit card machines at the entrance of the restrooms!😲 I saw that at the Bordeaux Saint Jean train station, and the line wasn't short either. 1 euro please if you really gotta go! So on the way back to Paris from Bordeaux, I had to remind myself, don't drink any liquid until you're on the train! While we were out n' bout, pretty much anytime I saw a free restroom, I went no matter I needed to go at that moment or not! Did it ruin our trip? Absolutely not. Just the inconvenience that you don't ever think you need to deal with when you're traveling in a major city.
Hot water...90% of restrooms in France have no hot/warm water. It's not an requirement and I understand that. But when it's 50 degrees outside washing your hands with ICE COLD water isn't something I prefer.

So there you have it...VERY grateful for what we have here in the U.S!🙏
