Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Wednesday Morning

#1 - Mine & DD21’s Sense of Humor Together - I can’t even go into specifics, all I’ll say is we can make anything funny and we laugh and laugh. I can hardly wait for her to come home on Tuesday.

#2 - Our Puppies Silly Antics - this puppy makes us laugh every day with his very silly ways.

#3 - My Boss/Friend - Literally, one of the funniest people I have ever known. He makes me laugh every day. He makes our patients laugh too, which is why he has such a loyal following.

Another vote for pet antics - one of my cats absolutely loves "stealing" a hair tie and batting it around. (I make sure it's a big one, not something she could swallow, if I do let her get one.)

The "secret" handshake DS and his cousins did at a family dinner the other night - a silly thing from their childhoods that cracked them all up and made the moms nostalgic.

Singing silly songs in the car when they were all little.

Goofy Dad Jokes - Everyone else rolls their eyes, but these things truly crack me up.

A 33 year old movie joke with an old friend - every year on my birthday, he'll share this goofy saying from the movie. The movie and the saying is ridiculous but it makes us laugh year after year.

DD16 being silly with her teammates - We were waiting for our plane on Thursday night and it's just so funny watching these teens being so silly and goofy.

Sitcoms - a couple of my old favorites - Golden Girls & Everybody Loves Raymond
DS - he has such a lighthearted sense of humor and always keeps us smiling!
Inside jokes - not to exclude others, but it's fun to just be able to look at something with certain people and crack up!

Good Morning friends:grouphug:

Forgiveness and letting go are such freeing blessings. I was able to do both over some longer term issues early into Covid. I gave it to God and moved on. I choose only joy. Zero desire for negativity or drama.

Pictures or cards that were not of positive memories.

God willing one day sooner than later I will be able to get rid of (donate) my walker because I will be fully recovered. I trust by my faith in God's time this will indeed happen.

Paper Files - It was either 2018 or 2019 when I convinced my boss that we could do away with paper files. It involved quite a bit of scanning old records into digital format to ensure past records were fully documented, but I designed a preliminary plan for how everything we normally do in paper form could be shifted to the digital world. Other teammates improved some of those digital methods over the years. The real perk is it meant not having to come into the office during out busiest seasons.

Old Clothes/Shoes/Toys - I don't do as much now that the kids are older, but every year, right around the holidays...I'd go through everything and load up bags for donation. I was so happy to rid my home of things like a huge wooden kitchen and the Barbie Dream House around these mass donation times. Hopefully, someone with a really tight budget was also able to gift them to their kids.

Toxic People - I won't elaborate, but sometimes it's really nice to cleanse your life and free yourself from people who cause you mental distress.

Paperwork. We had BOXES of old bank statements, returned checks, etc. We even had my mom's stuff, and she died in 2005! I finally convinced DH that it was OK to get rid of this stuff (in a locked, shredding bin at work) and also that we don't need to keep hard-copy credit card statements anymore. As long as I make sure the account number isn't showing, he has finally agreed to get rid of all this kind of thing (well... except tax returns, he wants 10 years' worth kept).

Books. It breaks my heart to say this, as i have been a collector of hard cover books written by my favorite authors for decades. I have/had some entire series collections, in hard cover. Unfortunately, I can't read books anymore. My eyesight has changed to the point where there is no good, comfortable way to hold a book for me to be able to read it for more than a few minutes, and you can forget about reading in bed. I have swapped over almost exclusively to reading on my Nook. I LOVE being able to read regularly again, but I mourn not reading from a nice, hardcover book. However, they take up space and I know I won't read them again, so I'm slowly parting with these old friends. It's hard.

"Unused" things. I am a big keeper of things that I might need, some day. Also, I don't see the point in discarding something that might, one day, be useful again. Consequently, we have a lot of stuff. I am tired of all this stuff and am trying to declutter, but it's hard. Maybe it's my Yankee roots, but it's hard to get rid of things that I don't use, but still have life in them, even if I am donating them. HOWEVER... as I said, we have lots of "stuff" and as I get older, it seems to have less value. Also, things are cheaper than they used to be. I remember my mother ironing wrapping paper and saving gift boxes. They were expensive to buy, so you kept and reused this kind of thing for as long as they were whole. Not anymore! I can get shirt gift boxes in multipacks for $2; no way am I carefully opening, refolding, and saving this kind of thing anymore! Hopefully we'll get through all the decluttering in the next few years... DD is already threatening to come in with a dumpster, as, like she says, there is no way we are leaving her all our "stuff" to sort out, as her inheritance!

Good Evening!

#1 - Unused Clothes - It always feels good to take clothes I’m no longer wearing to the thrift store.

#2 - Medications - A few times a year our county has a time that people can take hazardous materials, and one of those types of items are old medications. It feels so good to get them out of the cabinet - those bottles have a way of really multiplying

#3 - Old School Supplies - We had so many school supplies that were never ever going to be used again. I donated them to my church so they could distribute them at the food pantry for families that need them.

I should definitely do that!!

Another vote for clothes as well. I just went through some with DS a couple weeks ago, and donated a bag.

Also grateful for recently downsizing our CD collection. A lot of them found new homes via the flea market.

Absolutely agree with unused things in general. To me, if I am not actively using something or seeing it (thinking a picture) no longer brings me joy then it has become merely stuff collecting dust. The item is not helping anyone and by my faith belief certainly not being used in a kind way for me to serve God. Early into Covid I pared down a ton. These past few months I have donated and given new homes to a lot of paperback books I no longer needed to own. I would always rather know something was being of positive use :)

TGIF FRIENDS! :cool1:

#1 - Target brand make up remover - this works the best on taking off my waterproof mascara. It’s supposed to be the equivalent to Neutrogena, but I like the target brand better than Neutrogena. I’m grateful for every night when I take off my make up.

#2 - Working Hands hand cream - this is the absolute best for my dry cracking hands. I have Raynauds, which is a killer for my hands. I use the Working Hands every night when I go to bed.

#3 - Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel - I’ve been using this for as long as I can remember. It’s the best for me - anything else gives me acne.

My make up remover - awesome stuff just love it - found it getting a facial on a cruise fell in love with it and have used it ever since !!

Victoria Secret body sprays - love their scents I have several in lotions and spray wear them daily and always get the travel size

Scented bath soaps - I enjoy getting bath soap in all kinds of scents I often have 4 or 5 different bars in the shower at one time
