Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Holes

Well, I remember enjoying the book, Holes, does that count? :)

My large and sturdy colander. Pasta is a staple in this house and it gets lots of use.

The holes in musical instruments, like guitars and other string instruments, that make them sing. Also, the holes in woodwinds and many other instruments :)

And a very generalized gratitude for any item that has a hole in the top that makes it easy to hang, Ike some Christmas ornaments and some accessories.

I just realized I mixed things with holes and Bs again - so dumb of me - LMAO!!!!:lmao:
I did Belt, because it has holes, and then I continued with Bs again.:rolleyes2

To continue on with holes.......

My watch band (also another B - I have some kind of weird attractions to Bs today - LOL!) - very grateful with how it securely keeps my watch on my wrist.

Lifesavers Candy - I love the blue and green Lifesavers. I have a bowl of them sitting on my work desk and I always keep some in my pocket and in my purse.

Things with holes . . .

The fan by my bed, with all the holes for air to pass through.

A loose knit cardigan. Not too warm or too cool for Florida

The lids on soda cups with a hole for the straw. It’s so nice for keeping the soda in the cup and bugs out. I really hate getting a beverage at a restaurant that doesn’t give me a lid.

BBBBB

It's been cold and foggy here, so I'm thinking about cosy, comfortable things like

My very comfy winter Boots.

The Blanket I inherited from my great (and she was great 🙂) aunt.

And my warm, cosy Bed!!

Things with HOLES

Sieves (do you call them sieves your side of the pond?). So handy for baking.

My earlobes!!!! Earrings are my favorite type of jewelry.

Bagels. I had an onion bagel once with hummus, turkey, cucumber and cranberry. It was so good and expanded my sandwich filling ideas!!

Good Saturday Morning

#1 - Other People’s Outside Christmas Decorations - We have some people in our area that are totally over the top with their decorations and they are so much fun to go look at. I really appreciate all the work and money they put into their front yards.

#2 - Any Disneys Parks Fireworks Show - They are the best - nothing compares to them

#3 - The Kitchen Sink Sundae at Beaches & Cream - I’ve never had it, but it’s on my bucket list of things for us to try one day - it looks like sugar heaven. I’m grateful for it, because it gives me something to look forward to 🙂👍🏻

No, we call them strainers.🙂
Here, we have always called the ones we use to sift dry ingredients sieves or sifters, and the ones we use to drain wet items strainers or colanders. A sieve would have much smaller holes than a strainer here.

Over the top . . .

Disney fireworks shows

Disney holiday decorations

Kind of Disney anything really . . .

In case anyone is wondering…

A sieve is for dry ingredients. A sifter is a kind of sieve. Some will say that they’re interchangeable while others see a sifter as a specific kind of sieve. Either way, you’d use them for things like flour and cocoa powder.

A strainer is for wet ingredients. So basically something where you want to catch particles, but let the rest go through. I often think of fruit with strainers.

That being said, a lot of people only have one (usually a strainer) because one can do both jobs if it has the right mesh and used correctly.

Over the Top

Cakes- I’m always so wowed by over the top cakes. I’m just so wowed by confectionary engineering feats.

Surprises- I love seeing or pulling off an over the top surprise, especially for birthdays, holidays and vacations.

Parties- We were just talking the other day about the incredible holiday parties my company used to host. They’d rent out one of the city’s huge museums or pro sports venues, the catering was from some of the top local restaurants, there were open bars with all kinds of top shelf offerings throughout, there was usually entertainment like bell choirs to greet us and strings groups near gathering points, and we usually went home with some kind of favor…like the year we got Van Gogh paintings made of chocolate.

Over the top................

Frosting on a cake. There has to be lots! 🤣

Royal Pageantry. It's only occasional, but they really put on a show.

Disney theming in the 90s. When Hollywood Studios took you behind the scenes; when there was an 'Ol Swimmin' Hole called River Country; when there was a Main Street Electrical Parade in the Magic Kingdom; when the Disney Stores had Plush Mountain and the large figurines in the windows etc. etc..

And I agree with you all about Christmas lights - the more the better. I, especially, like a mass of white Christmas lights.

Good Sunday Morning!

#1 - Baby Afghans - My mom made them for both my girls.

#2 - Christmas Ornaments - I love the homemade ornaments my girls made when they were little.

#3 - Christmas Decorations - My MIL and her mom made used to make lots of lovely Christmas decorations. I feel so blessed to have them now. It’s a real compliment to be trusted with family heirlooms
