Three Things...Gratitude Thread

1. Another vote for softballs 🥎🥎🥎- They're sort of a blessing and curse, but I know we'll miss it when DD15 hits the point of hanging up her cleats. Right now, I've got some softball blues because I couldn't make the trip for this week's tournament. I should be able to watch whatever livestream they do, but it's not the same as sitting in the heat for hours on end and questioning life choices 🤣 While DD17 gave up softball a while ago, she still enjoys watching and she'll be attending OU. So, we've also started cheering on Sooner Softball.

2. Wheels- The first thing that came to mind was the sound of DD15 wheeling her suitcase through the house and driveway yesterday morning. It made me think of my college days. I had all kinds of luggage, but no wheels. Every time I flew home, I was lugging my big suitcase around and killing my shoulders. It's also making me miss my vehicle. We got DH a new truck last week and now mine is in the shop. I'm hoping to go without a needing a rental car, but we'll see how this goes. I need my set of wheels!

3. Fans- I know not all fans are round and the rate of spin is what creates that full circular appearance while the fan is in motion. I still haven't wrapped my brain around the engineering behind those bladeless Dyson fans, but ceiling fans are a necessity down here and they're all round. Most of our portable fans are also round/roundish. In fact, the mini tower fan on my desk...while rectangular, has an obviously round blade mechanism inside.

Round things:

1. Mickey heads! Love those 3 circles and how they are hidden everywhere.

2. Symbols, like the peace sign, yin/yang, whole earth, etc.

3. Buttons: from my old political buttons to WDW celebration buttons. Also buttons from clothing. I don’t even like sewing, but I save every extra button that has come with every piece of clothing I’ve ever bought! Just in case :)

Honorable Mention: discs of all kinds, my old 45s and albums, CDs, DVD’s and Blu-ray’s. Many hours of enjoyment that I am grateful for.

Pizza, bagels, donuts, pie, hamburgers, grapes, oranges... round food rocks!

Tires for my car, especially snow tires so my little Kia Soul doesn't get stuck in a snowdrift or slip off the road!

My engagement and wedding rings. I lost my first engagement ring as well as the replacement for it, and the stone wore down on the next one, but DH hasn't given up on me; he keeps replacing them as a symbol of our love and commitment. ❤️

#1 - Softballs 🥎 (you all knew I’d say this) - My DD20 a few weeks ago made the hard decision to retire, so I’ve been reflecting lately on all the awesome memories, and relationships, made due to this round yellow ball over that last 14 years. DD will still continue to be involved with the sport as she starts her new softball chapter with giving lessons.
Of course we did! Good luck to her

Well I get to say Pizza 🍕 again because we have a famous pizza here that’s square and it’s delicious!!

I’m going to use Rectangle items technically not a square but close …my jewelry box ❤️ received as a Christmas present when I was a little kid it’s very old and I still absolutely love it and use it every day !!!

Good Morning!

#1 - Blocks - My first thought was this great set of blocks that my girls played with.

#2 - Eggo Waffles - I love them, especially the blueberry ones. Now I want them - LOL!

#3 - Bread Slices - Very grateful for them every time I make a sandwich.

Good Saturday morning:grouphug:

Bread slices is such a great reply, dear Slo. I use them daily along with square slices of cheese. Aw love your blocks answer. God Bless you and your precious kid memories.

Square every day napkins are sure handy!

Going rectangle like dear WDWEPCOT to include our mailbox, boxes of Kleenex, and pillows.

Have a great day, friends :)

1. Bases- softballs yesterday…bases today.

2. QR Codes- I hate carrying cash. Not every place has the ability to run a physical card and messing around with Venmo or Zelle directly in a busy situation can be a pain. It also keeps us from having to carry around physical tickets for events.

3. Memory cards- the standard size SDs are pretty close to square, so I’m going with it. I love taking pictures and never looked back after shifting from film to digital. In 2005, I went to Yellowstone with 12 rolls of film and came home with about 288 pictures. In 2018, I went to Yellowstone and between the two camera’s SD cards, I came home with a little over 4,000 pictures.

Well, I may have a loose definition of square . . .

My new iPad (rectangular, so squarish). I had been budgeting for one for over a year because I knew the old one was wearing out (especially the battery since it was seven years old). It has been on at least 12 hours a day for the past three years since I have been job hunting. I didn’t realize how bad the old one had become until I got the new one. I am grateful that I could afford to get one at all, and I got it on a slight sale too.

My car (rectangular when viewed from above). Took it into the shop this week for routine maintenance and it started making a new sound. Turns out one of the nuts on a bolt that holds the brakes had come off completely (it was gone). I was grateful it was not an expensive repair and grateful I already had a service appointment scheduled so it could be fixed quickly. I really like my car and need it for job hunting as well.

My home. Almost a perfect square, and truly my favorite place to be, although Disney is a close second.

Disney things :lovestruc

All the live entertainment that I've seen at DisneyWorld over the years. Tarzan Rocks!, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Hunchback... Most are now memories only. There was also "minor" entertainment: Pre-shows at things like Fantasmic!, street actors, etc., as well as parades in all 4 parks- and the NIGHT PARADES. So much of this is gone now, making WDW more and more like your generic theme park. It's sad... I wish they'd do more live entertainment at Disney World.

Disney animated movies of the 1990s and 2000s. This is when DD was little and we watched Disney movies pretty much 24/7/365. I have all these wonderful memories of sharing this with her, and the memories live on. Last evening we were watching Mary Poppins with her 7yo and he was totally amazed that we were both singing all the songs- and knew all the words! (And it's totally 100% bonus over-time that I get to share all this over again with the Resident 7 Year Old!)

Which brings me to Disney movie music! See above... and also all kinds of music from other movies, at other times, that we still play (CDs on road trips!) and sing along with. I STILL get all choked up when I sing "Bright young women, sick of swimmin', ready to staaaannnnnnnd...." because it reminds me of sharing all things Disney with DD and my 2 nieces, and all the hopes and dreams we had for them when they were so little, so ready to grow and meet the world. (OK, tissue-time!)

Good Sunday Morning!

Truth be told…..I’m not a big Donald Duck fan. I can’t imagine Disney without him, but I’m still not much of a fan.

There’s so much to be grateful for in regards to Disney.

#1 - How Disney always brings out my inner child - nothing does this like Disney does, and I have a lot of inner child in me.

#2 - How Disney always gives my DD20 and I something in common to talk about - my love of Disney has rubbed off onto her and we talk about it all the time. We’re constantly sharing social media things with each other, and love watching our favorite YouTubers together. People have asked me how we can talk about it all the time, and my reply is, what’s the difference between us talking about Disney vs a dad & son talking about sports all the time or a Mom & daughter talking about fashion or something else all the time? There isn’t.

#3 - How Disney has given me a lifetime of memories - literally, a lifetime. My mom started my love for Disney and my first trip to WDW was in 1976 at 5yrs old. My love grew from there by returning to WDW many many times after that, sharing everything Disney with my DH & girls - I could write a book on my lifetime of memories. I look forward to all the Disney memories I’ll make in my future.

#4 - Bonus Donald memory…….I’m grateful that we had a chance to see him last year for our epic girls trip. As I said, I’m not a big fan, but I can’t imagine Disney without him.

Dad and I God willing are looking forward to the extra blessing of a special Disneyland trip over my birthday next May. I would love to ge our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie together. A photo with the two of us and Donald and Daisy would be great, too.

Disneyland, just being there, brings me cheer. It's a place to have fun, make memories, and grow with those I love and care for. My childhood wasn't always happy or positive so Disneyland can be a healing place, too. Of course it brings joy to my heart to see tons of happy children and their families.

Candlelight Processional will always be special to me. God willing I would love to expetience it again. All of dear you are so welcome to please join me!

My Donald Duck blue Jean shirt - over 30 years old ❤️❤️ love this shirt !!!

All my Disney items I’ve collected over the years - each one has a memory tied to it and every time I see the item I think about the trip when I obtained it

My Disney purses - I enjoy carrying Disney with me everywhere every time I go somewhere and it’s often a great way to start conversations with others !!

My four million Disney magnets and Pins !! I’ve enjoyed collecting magnet and pins for years and have them displayed in my house !!

Bonus would be the collage of Disney items DD put together in photo box frame from Disney trips for me as a gift !!! It was such a neat idea and such a cute gift !!! She actually did two and I have them displayed side by side !!! ❤️❤️
