Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Thursday Morning

I gotta be quick today…..

#1 - Blue skies predicted for today - thank you God! The grey NW Indiana skies this time of year are awful - they make you feel blah all day.

#2 - Stitch - I have a lot of fun Stitch things and now DD20 loves Stitch too.

#3 - The color makes me think of my mom - it’s her favorite color. When I buy her something I will always buy it in blue if offered in blue.

Ocean - I love looking at it either from a ship or sitting on the beach I’ll take either one but the ocean is absolutely beautiful especially in Grand Cayman

The Santa Anita mountains beautiful seem to have a blue haze to me gorgeous

Blue skies nothing prettier laying on the beach looking up to beautiful blue skies

Blue eyes - I was saying that people with blue eyes have the prettiest eyes I don’t have them but my DD does

Blue things...

Blue skies. We have had a lot of grey this fall, but today is going to be beautiful and sunny. It's cold, but it's glorious. I have a 3 hour drive ahead of me and great driving weather. I'm psyched!

The ocean. I am at my sister's home, which is about a 10 minute drive from the shore. We have driven along the beach every day. The ocean has been green-blue, a typical cold weather color, but the waves have been majestic. I love the ocean.

My old Eeyore hoodie. It's... 20 years old, maybe? It's old and tattered, and in too bad shape to wear anywhere. However, when I am having a bad day or need to feel snug, I'll wear it around the house. I love Eeyore, and I love this hoodie.

Shiny Things:
1. My Christmas tree. The upstairs tree is only 1/3rd decorated—waiting for college kids—but has all the lights on so shiny and brute.
2. Outside lights. We have ones in our trees on the corner of the house that look like they are dripping. So pretty. We also have ones that outline the house.
3. I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning so all the mirrors and glass are shiny right now.

Blue Things:
1. Middle DD has light blue eyes. They are stunning.
2. Our living room is painted blue and I really like the shade we picked—ventures toward greenish blue.
3. A small set of China passed down from from grandma. Tiny blue flowers all along the edge.

* My mom used to make cupcakes in ice cream cones, and a bit before they were done, she would put a jumbo marshmallow on top and let it melt into "frosting" that I liked way better than actual frosting.

TGIF FRIENDS

I’m kinda boring with cupcakes - I love box mix with canned frosting.

#1 - I’m grateful for canned (like Duncan Hines) frosting - chocolate is my favorite, but I do enjoy other flavors.

#2 - I’m grateful for sprinkles - they are a fun & colorful add on.

#3 - I’m grateful for my MIL’s homemade frosting - she used to make this a long time ago (she hasn’t made this in over 25 years). I do have the recipe, but it’s so not good for you (lots of Crisco), so I’ve never made it. I have very fond memories of really enjoying it when she made it.

Bournville cocoa powder ...& chocolate generally! Chocolate sprinkles, Cadbury's chocolate flake etc. etc. and so forth!!

When I was growing up, we had a recipe for a filled cupcake that I loved. My favorite filling was the cherry-cream cheese filling, but chocolate or lemon curd was good too.

That brought back a memory of when I did that for DSs birthday party. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to "display" them without just setting them in a pile. I think I ended up buying the aluminum cupcake pans and cutting the bottom out of each holder. I set the pan upside down and then put the cones through it (if I remember correctly). The kids did love them though!!

I make a chocolate cupcake with a mini peanut butter cup inside
I am a huge fan of whipped frosting(especially a spice cupcake with whipped cream cheese frosting)
Even though I don't like sprinkles, a good funfetti cupcake gets a pass
