Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I'm glad it's not still like this, but the anticipation of waiting for your favorite Christmas movie to come on each year, or your weekly TV show that you couldn't wait to see what happened next! I love tv on demand, but there's something to be said for the excitement of everyone watching shows at the same time!

Pen pals - we had them through school and it was fun mailing each other our picture and getting to know each other over time.

Church camp - at least at our church - I hope it hasn't gone away everywhere. I loved going and I loved taking my kids and then hearing their stories on the way home. Our church has gone away from it for some reason and I hate that the kids are missing out!

Today is:

...so take your pick for Today's Topic (Fri, 12/8) - 3 Chocolate things you're grateful for, or 3 Brown things you're grateful for

Choc - limit 3 ? Ugh
My chocolate coffee❤️❤️
M&Ms
Reese‘s peanut butter cups❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sorry I have to do a fourth
Chocolate covered cherries I could eat my weight in those like daily❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m gonna do a fifth
Brownies
One more
Chocolate chip cookies❤️❤️❤️❤️ warm right out of the oven with a glass of milk

TGIF Friends! :yay:

This will be easy since I love my chocolate 🍫❤️

#1 - I’m grateful for my 85% dark chocolate - I buy it at ALDIs and I eat a piece every night after dinner since it’s supposed to be good for you. It‘s an acquired taste, and my family hates it, so I never have to worry about them stealing it.

#2 - I’m grateful for Sno-Caps/Nonpareils - it’s my favorite chocolate to eat at the movie theater.

#3 - I’m grateful for big bars of almond bark - I’ll be buying these soon for my holiday peanut butter balls and amaretto balls.

#4 - bonus - not chocolate but brown - I’m grateful for peanut butter - it’s literally one of my most favorite foods. I know this, because when I consider giving it up for Lent I chicken out and don’t do it and choose something else. One year I’ll do it and it will be a huge sacrifice.

DISNEY
The music (Special mention for the Disney Christmas Singalong)
Walt's vision and version of the parks
The Disney Stores of the 90s

THINGS THAT BECAME STANDARD
Women's Rights (I know there's still more to be done to find an equal balance, but when you think back to 100-150 years ago...)
Dishwashers! (The mechanical kind, but the human kind are good, too, as long as they're not me!!! 🤣)
International travel

THINGS I'M GLAD I KNEW/HAD/DID
Life without the internet!
The Disney parks in their heyday (Special mention to River Country)
...And several much loved people, who are no longer here, but I'm so glad I had in my life.

BROWN
Well, chocolate, of course!
Wood materials in interior design
Worcester Sauce

1. Sarris chocolate—it’s local and I have never tasted better chocolate. They have a factory near us with a big storefront and ice cream shop. It’s more expensive than Hershey but so so good.
2. Chocolate ice cream—my favorite flavors are chocolate based.
3. Chocolate milk shake—a very rare treat but if I am going to do it, it will be chocolate.

Good Saturday Morning!

*My weekend is actually a little boring - LOL!
I have a holiday party I was going to go to, but after being sick before Thanksgiving, I decided to not attend. It’s at a very crowded bar and my gut told me to stay home. I wasn’t able to enjoy doing things with DD20 over Thanksgiving break, and I do not want that again for Christmas break. So, DH and I will just chill out at home tonight after 5:00 Mass, which is good too 🙂👍🏻

#1 - That it’s a low key weekend - not much going on.

#2 - I have time to catch up on things around the house.

#3 - DH are going to watch some Christmas movies (I love Christmas movies)

This weekend...

1. I am going to visit my sister in southern Maine! The semester ended yesterday and I am not involved in finals week, so I leave in about 3 hours to drive to my sister's, and I won't come back home until Wednesday.

2. Family will put up the Christmas tree while I am gone. This is a labor of love that I really don't like doing, so fingers crossed that I come home on Wednesday to a fully-decorated tree.

3. Dinner with several of my Massachusetts cousins. As long as I am in southern Maine, we're trying to plan a get together for supper on Sunday.

Brown/chocolate things:

1. Not a chocolate fan, but I do love the occasional Lindt chocolate truffle ball. Of course, my favorites involve white chocolate, but I quite like the orange-filled milk chocolate ones, too.

2. Swiss chocolate sundaes. This was a favorite of mine, served at Friendly's. It was a lighter chocolate topping, sprinkled with almonds. Don't know if they make them anymore.

3. DD's eyes. She is the light of my life and has the most beautiful, sparkly, dark brown eyes.

1. I am grateful for a quiet weekend. The last few weekends/weeks have been busy socially and by next weekend my older kids will start coming home for Christmas which is fun but adds more chaos to the house. This weekend is for cleaning/organizing/purging.
2. Temperatures in the 60’s! Great for December.
3. No football on Sunday as our team played on Thursday. More time to get things done!

Was too busy yesterday to answer my own question :rotfl: -
Chocolate Things:
Ice cream! My go-to in the summer is chocolate with chocolate sprinkles.
Ferrero Rochers - One of my favorite chocolates, and the ones DS bought me when I was sick.
The "kiss" cookies DH's aunt makes for holidays.

And today's while I'm here -
This Weekend:
Very little cooking :teeth: - We had a Lodge event last night, and another one tonight.
A plan for Sunday to watch Hallmark movies and work on Christmas cards.
Decorating the tree Sunday night. 🎄

I'm grateful for the random "likes" I get on some of my posts by PollyannaMom. Every time it happens, it just feels like a pat on the back and an acknowledgement that I'm seen and heard. Thanks very much for doing that PollyannaMom. I just want you to know I notice it, and I appreciate it very much.

Weekend gratefulness . . .

I am grateful my Christmas shopping is done. The last package is on the truck for delivery today. Of course, there is still the wrapping to do, but I enjoy that part.

I’m grateful that I sent email holiday greetings to two former coworkers that I miss and heard back from both of them. It’s so easy to lose track of people unless you take the time and make the effort. Hearing from them definitely put a big smile on my face!

I am grateful that it is supposed to rain on Sunday. We haven’t had any rain since before Thanksgiving, so the yard is a little dry and crunchy. I like a rainy day when I don’t have to go out.

Weekend Gratitude:

1. DH and I have my board Christmas party tonight. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but right now I'm grateful that after tonight, it'll be over lol!

2. We finally got the rest of our Christmas decorations up last night!

3. Tomorrow we're going to decorate my mom's tree when we go to her house for lunch.

This weekend I'm appreciating

...The fact that I've got the oven cleaned! :dogdance:
...How easy it is to listen to music around the house with a blue-tooth speaker. (Helped with cleaning the oven!!!)
...Relaxing at home after a busy week. (I was due to go out today, but the weather didn't really cooperate and it was, actually, nice to stay home.)

Ferrero Rochers - One of my favorite chocolates, and the ones DS bought me when I was sick.
Yum, I have a tradition of having the mixed Ferrero Rocher box, every year, when decorating the tree.

I'll swap ya! We've had so much rain this fall/autumn, it would be lovely to have a dry - even sunny - spell. :sunny:
