2. Smart phones
3. Modern medicine

(Fri, 9/8) - Any 3 things you're grateful for
1. All the students I work with at Awana at church, and particularly the student I work with one-on-one, K (first initial). I'm a bit... overprotective of him at times, and play the games right along with him, often to yell/remind him, "K! You need to pay attention! This is dodge ball!" LOL! Thursday, one of the other boys accidentally backed into me and knocked me over. I was FINE and got up immediately, with a smile on my face and only a slighlty bruised ego. The kid apologized, but I don't think K saw that. After reassuring K that I was just fine, K walks over to the other kid, points to me and says, "Say sorry!" I just thought it was SO SWEET that K was looking out for me and wanted to defend me. I seriously love that kid. Who's going to be... 15 on Monday. How did that happen??
2. My mom, bother, and I went kayaking on Labor day (Mom and I together, and my brother in his own) and it was the perfect day for it
3. The opportunity to help lead in worship some Sundays, and the new temporary/short-term Sunday School class I'm starting tomorrow.

(Sat, 9/8) - 3 things you're grateful for beginning with B
1. Bible
2. Books
3. Babies

Happy Sunday

The last couple of years have been a very difficult time for our family (many here know why).
So I’m grateful for….

#1 - My faith and my church - my faith has never been stronger than it is now.

#2 - My family - we‘ve all been strong for each other.

#3 - My couple friends that know what’s going on - I don’t put my problems on Facebook and etc for everyone to know. These couple friends have really been there for me and I’m very grateful.

Friends - can’t stress that one enough ❤️
Time - eventually these things will pass hopefully
Counseling - it’s helped me a lot to deal with things that come up in life
Most of the time the gumption to get up and deal with it and keep dealing with it or at least try to deal with it or the courage to walk away a matter how hard and painful that is

Family - they know me inside and out and love me anyway

Quiet - sometimes I just need to get away from the turmoil and let my feelings level out

Imagination - sometimes I like to just sit and daydream for a few minutes that I am somewhere that my problems can’t follow me. It’s a bit like meditating for me.

My chiropractor. She's helped me realize where I physically carry my stress and how to relieve it- and is always willing to squeeze me in somewhere in her schedule.

My car. Driving is a stress-release for me. Sometimes I turn up the heat, open the windows, crank the radio, and just drive. Other times, I find driving away from the stress at home is helpful... just drive away from it. I always go back home, but driving away just... I guess it's like running away when you were a kid; you always end up wanting to go back.

My vibrating foot bath.

Good Monday Morning!

Because it’s 9/11…..

#1 - I’m grateful for my DH that is a retired volunteer fireman - for 15 years he dedicated his every day to helping others. He is still a certified EMT, fire inspector, fire investigator, fire instructor and officer. He will always keep his certifications up to date and active.

#2 - I’m grateful for our local SROs in the schools - I know some of these men personally, and I always knew my girls were safe when they were at school due to these officers being there.

#3 - I’m grateful for my neighbor who was a volunteer firefighter with my DH - his wife and I always felt less stress when our husbands went on a call, because we knew they looked out for each other. If they were home at the same time, and their pager went off, they would take turns driving to the station. It was also nice that both sets of kids knew that their dad wasn’t alone on a call, and that they weren’t alone with having a dad that was always having to leave, and sometimes at special moments - volunteer firefighters don’t get time off - the tone goes off and they go.

Our Service Men & Women everyone of them are heroes❤️❤️

All first responders - again they are putting their lives on the line every day and that’s the job they chose by that choice alone makes them a hero

The people who volunteer and/or help others contemplating suicide helping someone not to die makes you were hero

All the people who help all animals suffering to stop their suffering and heal them are true heroes❤️❤️❤️❤️

1. I'm grateful for all of our first responders - it takes a special person to not know what you're walking into and to do it anyway!

2. I'm grateful for all the military service people and their families - such a sacrifice

3. I'm grateful for those who work with at-risk youth in local communities - educating them and working with them to guide them into a hopefully productive, fulfilling life

I am going to jump back in without doing the ones I missed, although I am planning to go back and read. September has been unexpectedly chaotic—nothing really good or bad, just exhaustingly busy.

Heroes:
1. My dad has always been a hero to me, but never more so than when he was taking care of my mother with Alzheimer’s. He showed patience and grace with my mom and an acceptance of the situation even when it was so very hard on him. I can only hope that if I am ever in a long term caregiving situation that I handle it half as well as he did.
2. All the first responders who keep us safe.
3. Our military—so many sacrifices made by them and their families.
