Three Things...Gratitude Thread

If you're anything like me, you'll enjoy creating it and it's sounds like your mom is 'a birthday person', so she'll love it.

Plus, you have plenty of time to work it all out. I always start with a theme of some kind - e.g., pure imagination; a hobby they like; a representation of everything they love, or everyone they love and who loves them; vacation memories; a location that's special to them or the family etc. etc. ...And, then, I get carried away!!! ETA: Or a favourite TV show, song or movie.

Have fun. 🎈

Thanks for all of the ideas!

Cold Things:
1. Air conditioning—I grew up in a house without it and definitely appreciate it so much.
2. Frozen fruit—sometimes I just eat it frozen—blueberries and cherries are great that way. Refreshing in a hot day.
3. Ice—I like ice water or iced tea when it’s hot.

Really good to see you back here. Hope you're enjoying your vacation. ⛱️

Can't believe I didn't think of champagne! 🥂

I love your hat tradition - long may it continue - and the mini me photo sounds like a brilliant gift.
Thank you! We are having a nice time. Service is a bit sketchy, but I do like my disboards and this thread in particular.

Good Morning!
It’s the 17th - this month is half over 😳

Some quickie answers today that are narrowed down to my job…..

#1 - My boss, who is also now my friend

#2 - Our patients, many I’ve gotten to know very well

#3 - Close to home, so I can go home for lunch every day

Anything goes...

1. I *think* I'm grateful for accepting a job offer and returning to the workforce. More Disney funds!! And we can still homeschool.

2. To have both my parents. They drive me crazy and I'm leaving our visit a day early lol, but still very thankful.

3. To have a God who wants to hear from me, listens, and answers prayer.

ANY 3...

Washing Machine... Earlier, I put a big load in the machine and was immediately grateful that it's doing all that work for me!

Some sunshine after lots of rain recently... Although, I do appreciate our weather is relatively mild and that many of you have been experiencing storms and heatwaves. Take care out there.

Theaters... I like going to the theater, especially to see comedies and musicals. I've also worked in a theater in the past and loved it!

New job? Wishing you well with it. :thumbsup2

And ditto about being fortunate to have both parents.

This thread has definitely helped me with that - recognizing more easily the things that we take for granted that we are / should be so grateful for

Mine for today:

1. Unexpected invites to dinner with family. We usually eat at my MIL for dinner each Sunday, but for various reasons she hasn't had it for over a month. Yesterday afternoon, DHs sister texted and asked if we wanted to come to their house for dinner. All 3 of their kids were there - 2 of them are married and have 2 kids each, so it was such a good time getting to spend time with them all playing together.

2. My kids - After spending last night with my SILs growing family, I don't know how long it will be / if we will have grandkids, but I'm so thankful for them and the relationships that we have with each other in this moment. They all get along great and we all truly enjoy being together.

3. My sister - she is taking my mom to a doctor appointment today. We mostly take turns and I'm so grateful that we both live close and are equally dedicated to helping my mom with things she needs.

3 things I'm grateful for:

1. I'm not sucking up here, but i am grateful for the DISboards. As you know, I'm laid up and there's not a whole lot I can do right now. I spend a lot of time reading the different forums on the DISboards, just for entertainment and information. The best part is all the wonderful, caring people I've "met" here. Two I've met IRL; one is one of my dearest friends and we message every day. The other was set to move up here when she retired (she'd even bought a house) and then passed away very unexpectedly. However, just because I haven't met most of you IRL doesn't mean I don't think of DISers as my friends. I am grateful for our conversations, your support through my surgery and rehab, and just for being here. I don't have to put it in words... you know what I mean!

2. Being financially stable. We are not rich, not by a long shot, and barely make 6 figures when you combine my income and DH's. We have had our years of pinching pennies and surviving on ramen noodles. I am grateful that those days are past us, that we've managed to budget wisely enough, curb in our wants so we can take care of our needs, which of course means sometimes we can afford those wants, too. We have a roof over our heads, food on the table, jobs, vehicles to get us there. I know not everyone has this security, and there were years when I didn't have this either, so I am grateful we've finally "gotten ourselves there."

3. Living as an extended family. DD, SIL, and his little one moved in with us in March 2022, when the rent on their tiny apartment skyrocketed to almost as much as we pay for our mortgage. We have the space- so they have 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a living room to themselves. Was there an adjustment period? Sure... some days we are still adjusting, but it gets better every day. I love watching DD grow as an adult, see her succeeding as a stepmother, and I'm glad she finally found a man who loves and supports her, and treats her as an equal. There is also a bundle of smiles, giggles, and energy packaged into a 7 year old who thinks I'm about the best thing since sliced bread! He comes to check on me every morning, and I'm running out of space on my nightstand for the get well cards and stickers he makes for me, as well as some specials toys and rocks to help me feel better. Yes, there are days when DH and I totally miss having our own, quiet home, having things done the way we like them done, items put away where we keep them, etc., but overall it's been wonderful to have them here, and to live like a family again instead of just 2 adults, rattling around a big, empty house.

My friends, always my friends I’m forever grateful for them
My job my boss can be very demanding, but he’s also very generous. I can work from home four days a week and I can takeoff pretty much anytime I want he’s not a micromanager and that’s a major blessing.
And I’m grateful that I live in the United States
And I’m always grateful for the Disboards❤️❤️

Any 3 Things:
1. Today I am grateful for our DVC. We are vacationing now and I appreciate the resorts, the staff and being able to enjoy all of it.
2. DH appears to have suffered a hernia on our first full vacation day. He stubbornly refused to go to the hospital, but was able to push it back in and seems better the last few days.
3. All 3 girls are with us on this trip. As they get older I think that will happen less and less so happy for the here and now.
