Three Things...Gratitude Thread

So I've noticed something with myself and this thread.... If I can't think of three things for a topic immediately, I'll think, "I'll think about it!" and then forget to post for like a week. So when I'm MIA, just know my brain probably shut off, and I'll be back as soon as it reboots. Or something like that. :D

(Mon, 6/26) - 3 things you're grateful for...with patterns
1. My computer mouse has a flower pattern
2. Origami paper
3. Clothes

(Tues, 6/27) - 3 inspirational people (famous or not) that you're grateful for
I feel like you all already know who I'm going to say for this one. :D Yes, I tend to repeat my answers a lot. Sorry.
1. Dr. Hamblin, my English professor who encouraged me to write. I don't really write anymore (I realized I was sacrificing sleep to write, and that's just not a good idea) but that has caused me to meet so many amazing people and opened doors for me. I hope to get back into it at some point.
2. Dr. Martin Luther King
3. Just.... so many family members and friends and... yeah. lol

(Wed, 6/28) - 3 quotes or pieces of advice you've been grateful for
1. He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. ~Jim Elliot
2. But do you know that all the dark won't stop the Light from getting through? ~Andrew Peterson and Ben Shive, "Is He Worthy?"
3. Do Bible verses count as quotes? If so... "Casting all your cares upon Him because He cares for you." I Peter 5:7

(Thu, 6/29) - 3 photos you're grateful to have
Not going to share here, because they all have someone in them who's either not a fan of being on the internet and/or not a family member, so don't feel like I have "permission" to post, but I'll share through PM.
1. The last family photo with my dad. My brother was doing travel nursing, and happened to have an assignment just a few hours away from us. We get to connect with them multiple times. Less than 3 months after they left, my dad took a drastic and sudden turn for the worse, and he died within 6 months.
2. The photo with the student/teen I work with one-on-one though my church's Awana program, after he finished his book this year
3. This photo of my brothers and I when I'm about a year or two old.... My brothers are on each side of me,a nd I have both fists up, like I'm thinking of taking 'em down. (Don't know if I have this one in digital form)

(Fri, 6/30) - 3 things you're grateful for that start with GR
1. Gratitude
2. Grace (Also part of the name of my church I've attended basically my entire life)
3. Grandma/Grandpa -- My maternal grandma (the only biological grandparent I ever got to meet) and my "church Grandpa."

(Sat, 7/1) - 3 things you're grateful for about July
1. 4th of July
2. Children's musical at church.... But ask me again if I['m grateful for that when I'm in the thick of the week long marathon ;)
3. The anniversery of the Apollo 11 moon landing (Yep. I'm a bit of a nerd, if you haven't figured that out yet...)

(Sun, 7/2) - 3 nostalgic things you're grateful for
1. Still living right behind my high school and elementary school. I love hearing the sounds of the baseball field, band practice, and the occasional sounds of the football games when the atmospheric conditions are right.
2. Favorite books (Yeah, I know. That's a bit broad and probably cheating a bit)
3. That I still have my original account on a virtual pets site (Neopets) from high school/college... it's like 22 years old now

That game is mint ! During World War II, they made the pieces out of wood because they did the metal for the war. I just wrote a book about this that they were inserting Mabs and different things to help the prisoners of war escape into monopoly games and they actually put real money in them to help the prisoners escape - MI9 in great Britain was running. This is really interesting this book I read about it and it’s actually part of all the history of things that they did - Winston Churchill did during World War II to help a prison all across Europe escape that they put these things in the boards, and in the games - they put maps specific to whatever country the prisoners were, and they put money again specific to whatever country the prisoners were and that they would need and they made them like compasses made to pieces somewhere like compasses and things just different things if they snuck into the monopoly games is very interesting
But back home, the pieces were made out of wood because they needed the metal for the war effort
It’s really cool that you have that game. What a wonderful memory.
Wow…,this is very interesting.
Thanks for posting this - I’ll tell my mom about it - she’ll enjoy hearing it.

Good Monday Morning

I’ll go with fried food, which I love, but try to avoid - LOL!

#1 - I’m grateful for fried dough in any form - whoever decided to fry some dough and put some powdered sugar on it was a genius!!! :rotfl:

#2 - I’m grateful for fried seafood, especially shrimp - I love it all!

#3 - I’m grateful for fried onion rings - I could eat fried onion rings until I threw up - love them!

Amen, WDWEPCOT, you know I completely agree!

No longer into fried foods other than daily almost plain pancakes made in a frying pan :D

Modern Conveniences

Kindle! As I have shared before, I am very traditional in a lot of ways. I always prefer a physical book. With bigger books, heavier or thicker, even older kids books that may not be in the best shape, what a blessing it has been to be able to read free E books from the library on my Kindle.

Online shopping especially these days!

Cell phones, texting, and email that make keeping in touch and reaching out in kind connection easier and quicker.

This very thread that is a gift each day from God to me for each of kind you.

The old fashioned pony express that keeps going no matter advances. I so love happy mail. Always glad to send a card to any of you, PM me. On this note, above all else, forever and ever, God! That to me and for me He never changes and is forever with me.

I'm also going with fried foods, even though I need to minimize how much I eat them these days

Friday night fish fry (U.S. Midwest), soft shell crabs and conch fritters (U.S. East Coast), tuna fish and chips (U.S. West Coast)

Tempura veggies and tempura shrimp

Fried green tomatoes

I was going to say avocado fries but I realize I may be more grateful for those when they're baked.

FRIED FOODS!!!

1. Fried clams, but only if they are whole clams, not those chewy strip things.
2. All other fried seafood.
3. Fried chicken

Conveniences...
1. Electricity and indoor plumbing. I was a resident camp counselor for 4 summers, I know of what I speak! 🕯️🔦🧻🚿
2. The internet. It's a rabbit hole that sucks up your time, it can be a dark place full of misinformation, lies, meanness, but geez... where would we all have been during the pandemic without it? How much easier is our everyday life because of email, being able to access recipes, arrange bill payments, stay in touch with friends and loved ones? Do you know how much crazier I'd be if I didn't have this internet lifeline while being laid up from knee surgery (that was more complicated than anticipated)?
3. Air travel. I know planes seem like they've been around forever, but it's only been not quite 120 years since the Wright Brothers did their thing at Kitty Hawk. How much fuller are our lives because we can travel great distances in reasonable time frames- to say nothing of having the ability to explore the reach of the universe? 🛩️✈️🚀

July Things:

1. 4th of July—great holiday—I love picnics and fireworks—so much fun.
2. Dad’s birthday month and definitely grateful for him.
3. Usually our vacation starts in July.

Nostalgic Things:

1. Wooden rollercoasters
2. China that has been handed down.
3. Vintage Christmas ornaments

Fried Foods:
1. Clams—most other seafood I prefer to not be fried, but love fried clams.
2. Fried chicken
3. French fries/tator tots
