Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF! :yay:

#1 - I’m grateful for port a potty cleaners - I‘ve used an unbelievable amount of port a potties at softball tournaments and I’m so grateful when they are nice and clean in the morning.

#2 - I’m grateful for those that work for the town public works - they have a lot of unpleasant jobs in the super cold and super hot temps.

#3 - I’m grateful for priests - they do so much more than people realize. A parish/church can’t function well without a priest that’s very good at managing a church and sometimes a school with it.

Bagging groceries-I have always been terrible at it

Garbage pick up…can you imagine the world without that service?

Currently all the Dr’s I’m working with-I’m always thankful for medical professionals, but feeling very thankful for the supportive team helping me navigate the issues with my rebellious body right now

Garbage collection people, and the people at our city dump. We bring our yard waste there and the men who work out of the guard shack are very friendly and helpful.

The recruits and young Coasties. Their pay is not nearly what it should be IMO. I recently read an article in our weekly paper that there’s a scholarship fund so Coast Guard children could attend the local Nature Summer Camps. The Coast Guard base is adjacent to the Nature Center and some of the families are bringing in around $2000 a month, and that doesn’t allow them to send their children to the camps. You better believe I sent in a donation, and encouraged my DSis to as well.

I use a wheelchair porter at Airports, and I really appreciate the people and the service they provide.

Garbage not collected - go somewhere when they are not working or a lot if people in small area like NY - omg you will appreciate them real quick !!! It’s a nasty job all way around from picking it up to working in the trucks - but someone has to do it

Another one I forgot
Anyone who works in the funeral industry - any part of it - from grave diggers to the people dealing with your departed loved one - dealing with people at the worst time of their life plus family dynamics !! These people are Saints !!!

My daughter's best friend's husband runs one of our local funeral homes. It definitely takes a unique personality to be able to deal with the bodies as well as the emotions of the families at the worst time of their lives.

Totally agree with many already mentioned

Trash/Garbage (what's the difference?)/Rubbish Collectors.

The funeral business. I hadn't thought of that one, but talk about necessary and challenging.

Porters at places like airports.

So many 'unseen' staff in so many places, but who can make such a difference.

Seconding farmers - that was one I thought of when typing in the topic this morning.

The support staff at schools (secretaries, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers...) - we've mentioned teachers before (and they deserve it!!) so I wanted to include these other roles too. Schools would not run smoothly without them!

911 and crisis hotline operators - amazing under pressure!

Wonderful answers that I so agree with! Thank you all for sharing, indeed another great topic, PollyanaMom.

Some newer (I think) replies

Librarians especially children's for encouraging kids to develop a love for 📚

Thinking of Angelica, my dentist's kind receptionist, those in administrative roles who often go out of their way to help us get the care we need.

For fun and thanks from all of us on here I know to Disney workers who make so many days brighter::MickeyMo
