Three Princesses and a June Trip to Disney World with pics, Final Update Aug 11th

Hello LG Country~Thaks for reading Well the housing in Cape May skyrocketed about 4 or 5 years ago...homes were selling in the millions and people sold and walked about with big bucks after buying stuff for $150K. I hope that was your family!!!
I moved here in 1976 and remember the Chrisitan Admiral well...and I agree it really changed after that! Washington St Mall is still alive and well though.
How is VA? What do you do now? Do you have a trip coming up??

Ahh the Washington St. Mall. I loved their bookstore with the wooden floor. Sorry that left too. I sold the house after Mom died in 1997, and did pretty good on it, but nothing in the millions. They had one of the Village Green duplexes that they bought for under 20 grand, lol. Can't imagine what it might have sold for a few years ago.

Virginia is ok, I'm a SAHM and volunteer at my son's school. We are going to WDW on Aug 5, so I guess I'll do a TR when we get back.

Oh some of those duplexes sold for half million. The market leveled out but no one lives in Cape May now...I mean the elementary school is practically empty. No one can afford to live there and all the homes are second homes for rich people.
Wow Aug 5th is right around the corner! I look forward to a TR! I wish I could stay home in a lot of ways but I do love teaching too....:rolleyes1
Thanks for reading along! :goodvibes

One funny story today...about cooking....my DH put dinner in the crock pot and put it in the fridge with instructions for me to turn in on around 10 am.:hourglass Did I remember??? No!! I forgot until 1/2 hour before he got home. :sad2: Good thing for hamburger helper!! :rolleyes1 I am so busy with all these crafts and socializing and taking the girls to lessons and doctors appointments and to see friends...who's got time for chores???? :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

I gotta settle down soon or else :headache:

PS. - Le DH couldn't have cared less as long as we ate something....we ended up having peas, corn, brocoli, cantelope, rolls and HH! All good and life is back to normal! :cool1:

Funny thing about those crock pots, you've got to remember them early. Oh, well now you have a meal ready to go for the next day. I've definately done this, although DH has never gotten it prepared for me...

Love your outfits! I was explaining on the design board that I could get some fabric for you at our local wally. Page 422 on that thread. It moves so fast over there!!! Did you use stabilizer on the appliques? I tried my hand at appliques and they turned out okay but I was doing them on a t-shirt and it kinda bunched up. I've never tried the stabilizer but I guess I will try it for the next time.

that outfit is adorable. I think I may have to try finding some of those decals for my daughter

I know...wasnt that nice of him to "cook" dinner by putting it in the crock pot? But as you said, we have dinner for tonight and you will be happy to know that I put it in and turned it on! :thumbsup2
Darn I must have missed that over on the thread..sorry :guilty: I figure when I get ready to go to Disney again I will start collecting fabric and appliques etc. I used "heat and bond" under all of the fabric appliques (the clear ones just iron on) and then I stitched around the edges. Thanks for offering me fabric Buffy....thats so sweet
When I made our AK tshirts, I couldnt stitch the edges cause the needle wouldnt catch on the tshirt part. I didnt have any stabilizer and needed it. I think appliquing on stretchy tshirt fabric is next to impossible. I had no trouble on regular cotton. The hardest part was figuring out where to leave the needle to make turns...on the inside or outside. I made a couple of mistakes. But its fun overall...do try on regular fabric and you'll see it works much better!

I found them right in our Disney Store at our mall. I probably should have picked up a ton of them. I may have to go back and get more...I just dont know how they will hold up in the wash???

that outfit is too cute for words. My mom would make most of my clothes as I was growing up( there was 5 of us kids ). She even made my prom and wedding dresses. Now she doesn't have the time to do any sewing, crocheting and the like. So she gave me one of her sewing machines and I'm going to try making a quilt. Wish me luck. I can sew but it has been almost 14 years since I have.

Day Five – Daytime – Animal Kingdom Day

The next thing I remember is waking up….I had no idea what time it was but I made a pitstop   and looked at my watch…6 am! I wanted to sleep till 6:15 or 6:30 but this was close enough. So I took a shower and got ready. I don’t know if I mentioned it but the whole bathroom area has a nice curtain which you can pull across so you have plenty of room to dress etc and don’t have to try assembling yourself in the tub/toilet area. Plus in the morning I could turn the light on without it glaring on everyone sleeping. So today we were wearing our matchy matchy green t-shirts and we were goin’ on a Safari! I had never done the Safari before and I was really looking forward to it!!

DH and the girls got ready after me and we left the room around 7:30 am. The park didn’t have EMH in the morning so I knew it would open around 9am. We got our bus just fine after a few minute wait and we arrived by 8:20 am. There was already a line of course and we got in it too. We snapped a few pics. I knew there was an opening ceremony but couldn’t see it if I tried. I knew most of the people here were going to make a bee-line for EE. My plan of attack was to get a Kali FP and head right to the Safari. I think I mentioned something about wondering thru Oasis but I will talk about that in a sec.

IMGP3237.jpg

So we wait the 30 min and read our map and snack on GoTarts and granola bars. I had filled the girls sippys with ice water and they enjoyed that. We saw a talking palm tree too.

Felicia reading the AK map..she should be a big help at this park!

IMGP3242.jpg

This tree moves and talks!
IMGP3239.jpg

We are finally let in at 8:50 am and the tide of people sway to the right up the path around the Oasis. There was no way I was stopping to look around there. We were in a race! We are caught in the tide and race walk a bit until we hit the stroller rental area. Here we encounter our first OP (oblivious people). Here a family has rented a double stroller and they turned it around and are blocking most of the walkway :sad2: so they can take a pic of their two kids in it. Everyone had to try to maneuver around them. If they just would have walked up a few feet and pulled over to the side they could have snapped pics until the cows came home and no one would have been effected.

Suddenly we spot the Tree of Life! Yippie! It’s as beautiful as I remember it from 9 years ago! I forgot how pretty the walk was in…complete with a tunnel and everything.

IMGP3240.jpg

Then the tide stopped. We came to a complete standstill and were crowded together like sardines. :crowded: I realize its another rope drop and the opening ceremony I was looking for. Problem is, the only people who could see and enjoy it were the people up front. Maybe 50 –100 people??? The rest of us peons were too far back cause the walkway was so narrow. I tried taking pics above everyone’s head.

Look how far back we are:
IMGP3241.jpg

I got up a 6 am and left our room 1 ½ hours ahead of time…I waited for 40 min to get in and this was what I got for all that effort??? :confused3 After another wait, it was finally over and we started moving again.

So our plan called for a detour to the right to pick up Kali FP. On the way we passed the construction site for the new restaurant they are building so I snapped a pic. Can you see the scaffolding and insulation beyond the tree?

IMGP3243.jpg

We made our way out of the swarm of people when we took a left turn. It was like trying to get out of the EAC (Nemo movie). We obtain 4 FP and got a little lost trying to get out of Asia. It was only a minute or two but it all counts.

We find the path around the “top of the tree” on the map…it goes by the Flights of Wonder which should lead us to Africa. It was amazingly empty and shaded and cool. We make our way to the Safari entrance and are allowed to take the stroller most of the way in! Another yippie shout! The wait said 10 or 15 min I think. Heck it took us a good 5 min to walk thru all the waiting areas and drop off the stroller. I would hate to have to wind thru the waiting area…it was long! Anyway we get up to the deck to load on the Safari vehicle. A nice CM commented on our shirts. Btw, we were already getting lots of nice comments about our matchy shirts which surprised me cause a lot of people wore matching outfits. Each time, people would ask if we had one for each park. No, I would say…just AK!

Continued in post below,,,keep reading!

Day Five - Daytime -Animal Kingdom Continued

Now I didn’t write down the time we got on the Safari ride but it had to be around 9:15 or 9:20 am. It was great and we got lots of pics and saw lots of animals. Here are the obligatory pics!

Had enough??? :rotfl:

When we got off we found our stroller and our next stop (according to my handy dandy itinerary) was to take the train out to Conservation Station. :drive: We found the entrance right near the exit of the Safari. As we neared the station I was writing in my notes and pushing the stroller at the same time. I was going pretty slow but there were hardly any people around. I guess the train had just left. As I neared the station I look up from writing to see this….

Wow that is great! I used to sew a lot and then I had kids :rotfl2: No seriously I went thru this wedding planner phase and I made wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses etc. I made my sisters wedding dress too.
I would occasionally sew but its so hard getting fabric etc and expensive that I havent really gotten back into it.
Then I found the sewing thread on here and I am hooked again. I say...Go For It!!!!!!! What ideas do you have for your quilt??? I would love to see it when you are done so take pics ok? :goodvibes
