1. always make sure you are having fun
2. don't over-think taking the photo.
3. as long as you are happy with the picture, nothing else matters.
 
all very true....

a colallary (sp) to those is that once you start spending money on camera stuff, there will alway be something else you just have to have....

if you've ever seen my equipment list, then you know THAT'S true
 

A similar rule for camcorders:

1) Don't experience everything meaningful in your life through a viewfinder or LCD screen. Recording is fine, but make sure that you actually engage in some of the events that you are recording.
 
For a digital,

1. Make sure the memory card is in the camera.
2. Make sure the battery or batteries are charged.
3. Have fun!!!
