How about a dessert? They really don't need the frige and everyone loves dessert.

That's a great idea... I didn't even think of dessert. I was just sort of stuck in the snack/appetizer mindset. You're right, cookies, etc. are always a hit. Especially since its a family reunion type thing and there's a ton of kids.

You pick diff't things you like or ingredients you have, and the Kraft website comes up w/ a customized cheesecake recipe for you. Its really pretty simple, I'm sure its just plugging in your choices to a standard recipe, but I thought it was kind of fun.

Here's mine for PB & Double Chocolate Minis:

Crust:
1 cup cookie crumbs, NUTTER BUTTER Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies
3 Tbsp butter or margarine
2 Tbsp sugar
Cheesecake Batter:
1 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese and 1 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese, 1/3 Less Fat than Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
Batter Flavorings:
3 squares BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted and cooled slightly
Mix-In's and Toppings:
1/3 cup mixed into batter and 1/4 cup sprinkled on top chocolate chips
1 square, coarsely chopped, mixed into batter and 1 square, melted and drizzled on top BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate
CRUST: If using whole cookies, place 1 cookie on bottom of each of 12 (2-1/2-inch) paper-lined muffin cups. Otherwise, mix Crust ingredients; press evenly onto bottoms of 12 (2-1/2-inch) paper-lined muffin cups. Refrigerate until ready to use.
BATTER: Beat cream cheese, sugar and Batter Flavorings in large bowl with electric mixer until well blended. Gently stir in whipped topping and Mix-Ins. Spoon batter into prepared cups, filing each two-thirds full.
TOPPINGS: Add Toppings.
REFRIGERATING: Refrigerate at least 3 hours before serving. Store leftovers in refrigerator.

OMG!! I'm so hungry. I need to stop fantasizing about cheesecake I just made up and go get some real lunch.

lighttech-That recipe sounds delicious. I'll have to try to get DD to make that one too.

I have some good news for a change. We just found out last night that DH's old company owes him a substantial amount of money and we may get it in January. It's the January part that is the good news. We had known about the money but we thought we would start getting payments on it next summer. Now the company changed the way they do this and it might be one lump sum. We might be able to move up our Florida plans now.

Recipes sound good. My sil made a great snack mix -using the chex mix as a base, adding taco seasoning, cashews, and cheese crackers-it was good. Cookies are always a hit!
