Hi,
Just checking in to let you all know we're safe...for now.:umbrella:

About 6 miles from our house there is another dam in danger of failing. They have streets blocked off for miles and the DNR is watching it very closely. The bummer part of all of this is this is only 1 of 2 ways in and out of the city/town and access to the interstate. :worried: Now our house is not down stream of this lake, but still is so scary to have this happening so close to home. Many people are losing everything because they have no flood insurance (not a flood prone area -ever!). It is so sad and scary!
I am waiting for DH to come home from work and not sure how he will get home w/ all the roads closed.
The weird thing is the sun is out, it is 80 today and they are forcasting more rain for tonight and tomorrow. :scared1:
ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!

THEY'RE HERE!!!!! Our kilts arrived from Scotland today! I tried mine on and it fits! With room to spare in either direction, thankfully. It looks beautiful, and I actually look slim in it! So exciting!

We hit 100 again today. I am not happy with my hybrid. When I have the AC on, the battery drops down so low I have to turn it off becuase I'm afraid the battery will die and I'll be stranded. This is NOT a good thing! So I'll be calling Toyota tomorrow to see what's the problem.

And I bet he graduated magna cum LOUD.

:lmao: Would you believe summa cum LOUD!!??:rotfl2:

whgrn-Sorry you didn't get the reservation for the castle. I just can't get over how much your DS sounds like mine. Taking out the garbage is DS's only chore and yet it is like we are asking him to cut his arm off to do. So much attitude that sometimes I just want to slap him into next week. :lmao:

And last night, I took FOUR cans out to the street for him. Did I get a thank you? NO!

I missed Nashville Star last night! I was so looking forward to it too! Had a girls night out. You know you're in trouble when you can't find your way INTO the bar! We decided to have drinks at the golf club and we just couldn't find the door. We had to ask the cook on his smoking break where the door was.,..but we found it! Had a lovely vodka sunrise and plenty of girl talk. These are my high school girls---we haven't changed much in 20 years!

whgrn...sorry about the castle. Did you leave a contact number just in case a ground floor room becomes available?

I got my hair dyed this morning. I went to this Korean hairstylist, b/c she understands Asian hair, which tends to be more coarse. We left the dye on a little longer than recommended coz usually Asian hair is harder to dye. Well, apparently my hair is less Asian than the rest of my coz my roots are ORANGE! The rest of the color is great though. We're hoping in the next few days the color will tone down. I actually kinda like it, but its really different.

MK, that sounds like a fun evening! The castle doesn't have any guest rooms on the ground floor, I guess they're all upstairs. So nothing is even possible.

Where's a picture of you and your "new" hair???

Oh D&D, you are in my prayers! That footage is so scary! :scared: I hope it all gets better soon.

Stay safe everyone. It does seem like things are hitting closer to home than ever before. I think the bad stroms are headed toward Racetrack and Lighttech. I think even into NY but not sure where. We had thunder and some rain. Mom, 25 miles away had electricity off. Not sure if she got it back yet. She's upset because she's missing the Phillies game on tv and they are not on a radio station she can get. I called and told her they were loosing anyway.
What colors are in your kilt? Will you wear knee socks? What kind of shoes? Can we see a pic before you go?

We're supposed to get thunderstorms tonite, and I have heard a few rumbles in the distance. For some reason, the minute there is the slightest rumble of thunder, my kids come screaming to me. I told them it was just a rumble, and that they have to stay in their beds until and unless there is a REAL thunderstorm. I hope we don't lose power--even with the AC it's 79 in the bedrooms. And would you believe, DD is bundled up under sheet, blanket, and comforter!!! I told her she will overheat and have a seizure, and threatened to take away the comforter if she puts it over her again.

The kilt is mostly navy with green, yellow and black in it. Really pretty! No knee socks--that's what the guys wear. Mine is long--a hostess skirt. I hopefully will be able to wear knee-high stockings (I think my calves may actually be small enough now to wear them), since I REFUSE to wear panty hose! I got a really nice pair of navy slingbacks to wear with it (low heel). I'll have my sister take a picture of me wearing the whole outfit, and post it here, but it won't be until at least next week, since she arrives on the 19th. (I can't WAIT to see my baby sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Oh crud, just realized I never went out and watered my plants this evening, and now it's pitch dark out there. I hope we get rain with this thunderstorm that we're supposed to have. My babies (plants) need it!!

We have a huge line of storms getting ready to roll over us right this minute! I know the time on here is off but my clock at home is showing 10:02pm. Wow! That just made me jump! Large rumble of thunder. I am going to get off of here and shut everything down. Direct TV just lost the signal. It should be raining any second. I'll try to stop by tomorrow.

You ever have one of those days you just want to scream? First, hotter than heck here...again. Kids didn't want to do anything today so they basically complained all day. DH comes home from work and calls DS out to the living room. DH asks DS what he didn't do yesterday. DS looks him right in the face and says take the trash out. Now Monday night, I specifically told DS to take the the trash out. DS went outside, messed around and then came back in the house. Left the trash out back where it was. DH leaves for work at 4am and he had to take the trash out then. There are not even words for how angry I was at him. And yet, DS whines to his mom about how mean we are while he's pulling this kind of stuff. :furious:

We go out shopping for a portable ac unit. Not one to be found except at sears and that will take a week to get in. And it was much more money than any of the others I had seen online. Tell DH to forget it, I'll order one online myself and get it shipped free to one of the stores. Cool, all fine and dandy. Come outside, the sky is getting dark and there's the low rumble of thunder. A quick stop at the grocery store and we'll be home before the storm hits. Nope, no way! Store is packed, storm is moving fast and I realized that I left 2 windows wide open. Come out of the store and the storm is just kicking up. Make it home and run in to shut the 2 windows right away and by the time I get back out to the van, it is a torrential downpour with bolts of lightning across the sky. Get the 2 little ones in the house and go back to help with the bags. The older ones have already pulled all the bags out of the back into the front of the van, so I send then to the porch and I ran the bags from the van to the porch. By the time I was done, I looked like I took a shower in my clothes. :rotfl2:

Get the kids all settled while the lights are blinking on and off. Finally get to sit down at the computer thinking I'll check in here and put the order in for the ac unit. NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!! Ok, it's just the storms it will be on in a few. Wait a while and check again. Still not on and cable is working fine (we have internet through our cable). Call the cable company and the animated voice tells you how to restart your internet iif you can't get a connection. Do all that and still nothing. Call back and wait on hold for 45 minutes to talk to a real person. He tells me to do the exact same thing I just did. I tell him that I already did that and he tells me just to do it again and have a nice day. Thank you, you were alot of help. Call back again and get a wonderful guy on the phone. He spent a good 15 minutes on the phone with me trying to figure out what was wrong. It's still not fixed but he did "think" he pinpoiinted the problem. It might be faulty cable from the computer to the internet box. So now tomorrow I have to run out and get a new cable and hope it fixes it. So right now, I am on dial-up service and it is a big change compared to what I am used to.

D&DDisney-I'm so glad you check in and everything is ok with you right now. Prayers going out to your whole community and everyone else affected by the horrrible weather. Stay safe and keep us updated.

whgrn-PICTURES! PICTURES! PICTURES! You have to post as soon as you can. You must be so excited that you sis is coming to visit.

M&N-missed you tonight (see above). Catch you tomrrow!

MagiKitty-Thanks for the recipe. I sometimes like to stay up after the kiddies are in bed and have a drink and relax. That one sounds good.

Ok, I'm off to crawl into bed and hide under the covers and hope this day will end. Thanks for listening and sorry so long.

Racetrack: Here are some smilies for you.

Hope things are better since the sun came out.

The key to today....lower humidity. :yay:

Just stopping by quickly to say Woo Hoo! I got all the ADRs that I wanted! Today was my 180th day to call for my December trip and I was a little nervous about calling. I hate calling people! I am just not a phone person. I had a really nice guy who worked with me to get me lunch at Le Cellier.(Dinner was full.) I have Six :scared1: in my party which can be hard to place but he put us down for 2 tables of 3 which will work fine. My parents are going with us so they can sit at one table with a kid and we can have the other one. I also got catagory 2 for the Spirit of Aloha! I had to rearrange Liberty Tree Tavern because the ressie I wanted fell on a MVMCP night. I switched that day to a breakfast at Ohana and did LTT for dinner on the day I had planned Ohana. Both days were going to be MK days anyways so no big deal.

I thought this was funny

Off to the Post Office!

Just stopping by quickly to say Woo Hoo! I got all the ADRs that I wanted!

Yeah! You can eat! Glad they had dates for MVMCP so it didn't mess you up. I read some had to go back and change things because of that. Glad you got a helpful person. I'm sure it can be intimidating to call about such an important thing and have to worry if it's available and then have to change things on the spot. Is the 180 day thing because of free dining? So others without it could have when you wanted filled?

We're still safe!!!!!! Taking things hour by hour tough...
Thanks for all your prayers and concern. You all are the best!!!
The dam is still okay but everyone in our area is on alert and told if the sirens go off - evacuate. We don't live down stream of this dam but have many friends who do. It is in the downtown area of our small town and has access to the interstate. Everyone is in fear of the sirens going off and the more rain we're supposed to get tonight and tomorrow. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

M&N - I stole (I mean borrowed) your rainy smiley. Was very appropriate. ::yes::

Pikester - congrats on the ADRs. :cool1:

whgrn - I too watered my babies right before the big storm on Sat. Needless to say they are set for a few weeks now. Hope you don't get 1/2 as much rain as we have.

Stay cool everyone! Sorry I have been so consumed w/ what's going on here. Just never saw anything like this in all my life living here. :sad2:

It is nice to see everyone get excited over their ADRs. Would you believe we have not made any ADRs for a couple of years. We have been doing just counter service on the last several trips. I liked Chef Mickeys, but I can't eat that much so it seems like a waste of money to me. We may do one ADR next time we go.

Hope everyone is getting a break from the heat today. It is a little cooler here today, thank goodness.

I am off to the shower so I can head out to get a few things done.

Kim

I do not have free dining. We went with the basic dining plan. I read the following in Passporter's Disney World "Disney resort guests have the advantage of being able to book reservations for the first ten days of their trip at 180 days from their check-in date."

The first day of my stay at Disney is 12/7/08 which means today is 180 days from that date. I could also book the next 6 days reservations while I was making the one for today. Most of the restaurants and dinner shows allow you to book this far in advance.

I must be dumb today because I'm not sure what you are asking me with your second question. Sorry!

There is alot of food when you do the buffets. We like them because DS7 doesn't really like some of the stuff on the "kids" menu and can eat the adult food from the buffet if he wants to. We like the Table Service restaurants because we like to treat ourselves to being waited on.(Instead of making Mom or Dad do it!:rotfl: )

The weather is much better here today. It's about 72 degrees. I actually have all the windows in the house open with a nice breeze blowing through.

Hey racetrack18kb! I'm sorry you felt like this yesterday I hope you are having a much better day today!

Much better day here today. Kids are getting along today, the weather is nicer. Still haven't gotten the new cable for my computer but I'll get out to the store sometime today. Not having the house phone is kinda weird but at least DD's friends can't call every 30 seconds. :rotfl2:

D&DDisney- Thanks for checking in and keeping us updated as well. Still keeping you all in my prayers.

Pikester-:cool1: :cool1: Glad the Adr's worked out for you. I hate calling people too. I used a travel agent the last 2 times we went and she took care of adr's for us. I only made 2 for this year though. We did use the dining plan for the last 2 trips but found it was too much food for us. I still think it's a great plan just not for us.

M&N-You were right about today being a much better day. What a difference.

Yes, I'll post pix as soon as I have someone to take them! DD is NOT a very good photographer...

Prayers continue for y'all out there. It looks SO scary! My dad is now wondering if our Mississippi River cruise will be cancelled due to the high water levels. We are supposed to leave July 5--only 3 1/2 weeks away:scared1:

Please send rain this way. We need it! But you dont' have to be tooooo generous...:lmao:

Hello everyone. Much much cooler here today. We were nailed last night by huge thunderstorms. Lost DirecTv and power a few times. Really amazing to watch, just glad I wasn't out in it.

D&D....I've been watching that footage of the house just being crushed by the water and it still amazes me. Still keeping you and your family in my prayers, just expanded it to the entire community. Keep safe and alert and should you have to evacuate, prepare a bag of necessities in advance, along with necessary papers and pictures. I hope it doesn't come to that, but a friend of mine lost their house once and she really regretted losing all those pictures.

So I've decided my hair is little too light. The hairdresser will be able to sneak me in Friday to do a touch-up. Should be fine.

whgrn..,.the kilt colors sound beautiful. When are you going again? My friends that are getting married in two weeks should return to Edinburgh mid-July.

Pikester! Yeah on the ressies! We're doing Spirit of Aloha too, but I have no idea about tiers. Just sounded a nice way to spend an evening, we're going after AK day, since that closes early. And you got Le Cellier! That's one hot ressie you got! I've read people being absolutely distraught b/c they're been unable to secure a LC reservation.

Rankings came out at my twins' school. My nephew fell from 4th in the class to 11th. His parents are really mad. Not that there's anything wrong with 11th! (That was my rank upon HS graduation!). But he basically screwed around and fell. Niece is 8th! So proud of them nevertheless. Graduation still strained amongst family members, but the kids will do great.

Oh, I"m hungry. Missed lunch by two hours!

Haven't been able to get here in a few days... hope all is well, and I'll check back when I can.

Just wanted to say "Hi."

(I'm pages behind again... :bitelip: )

I must be dumb today because I'm not sure what you are asking me with your second question. Sorry!

Thanks for explaining. I stay with friends so do not get to eat at DW too much. I are in Germany for the Candlelight processional in Dec. I know they got those tickest ahead. We also ate at Rose and Crown(?) in England for lunch but just walked in then. I also ate at 50's Prime Time(?)--where they tell you to keep elbows off the table. Otherwise we go to places where you just walk up and order and find a place to sit. I think I meant that I hear many say they cannot get in to where they want. So can some make ressies more than 180 days away?

M&N - I stole (I mean borrowed) your rainy smiley. Was very appropriate. ::yes::
Stay cool everyone! Sorry I have been so consumed w/ what's going on here. Just never saw anything like this in all my life living here. :sad2:

My smilies are yours too! After all, I got them for nothing! :) Don't say you are consumed w/ what's going on there...you should be. It's ok as long as you keep un informed.
It is truely amazing to see the power of God through nature. I just think He's showing us He is still in control.

Haven't been able to get here in a few days... hope all is well, and I'll check back when I can.
Just wanted to say "Hi."
(I'm pages behind again... :bitelip: )

I'm trying to type slow so we won't get too far ahead of you.
Just remember, checking in and saying Hi is important.
