Here you go...I have plenty.

Our PBS station has a program about Hershey at 9 tonight.

Just popping in quick before I head to bed early tonight. This cold is really knocking me for a loop.

Oh, and to all my wonderful friends here who just had to comment on the best nascar driver out there right now I'll get my revenge tomorrow. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I'm just amusing myself looking at new smilies I found from racetrack's post.

Look what I found.....my fav show on sci-fi. Anyone else watch it?

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Sounds like a lot of us are dealing with allergies and colds.

Maybe it's some kind of "computer virus" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
OK, that was lame but best I can do with a stopped up head.:rotfl:

Here is the list of posts from our new thread so far.

Everyone have a great day.
I have a lot of errands to run today and I'm helping out at our church tonight for a dance recital. I'll check in later in the weekend.:grouphug:

I guess this is me. I killed the last thread and not cannot stop talking on this one. You all will have a chance to catch up. I won't be back until Tue pm. Mom's having a colonoscopy that am.

I'm going to see the Grass Roots at HersheyPark Sunday night. There are groups every Sunday night. They did Midnight Confessions, Temptation Eyes and Two Divided by Love in the late 60's and early 70's I think. It's in the park so there's nothing extra to pay. Season Passers even get free parking.

Racetrack: This one's for you... It just made me think of KB! :lmao:

hey guys!

just have half a minute to check in!

the party last night was a lot of fun, the kids got good and tired, and the guests had a great time.

i'm so far behind already - i'll try to get back later and catch up.

miss you all! :hippie:

Glad they had fun! Sounds like a blast!

Yeah! Thanks lighttech...I put the link on the first post!
...

:cool1: :cool1: Hooray for MagiKitty!

[Our PBS station has a program about Hershey at 9 tonight.

I'll have to check it out. I wonder if its new, or the one I've seen a hundred times. (Don't know if you are good ol' channel 12... Philadelphia PBS or not, but they tend not to update very often... but I do like their programming.)

Very cool about the concerts. I've seen a few at the Hershey Stadium outside the park, but I don't think I've seen any in the park itself. I love the Stadium though... its a neat space. Lots of places to sit, but still feels intimate. I actually saw my first "real" concert there when I was in highschool. (Late bloomer when it came to music.) Saw it w/ DH too... I realized that Wednesday was 14 years from when he first asked me out! :scared1: :scared1: I don't feel old enough for that to be true! :lmao:

Hey friends! I tried to post this morning and it said our thread was locked! No notice whatsoever! No opportunity to post a link (thanks anyway Shmu!). So I'm starting the PM tree now and hoping that we can all find each other here again...

For friends new and old, here's a link to the first Thread Killers Unite! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1629875

May it rest in peace.

Okay...so now I have to post mutiple times just to keep up w/ you all???:lmao: How did you find the post count again?

:surfweb: Let's see...what can I talk about for mutiple posts?

How about the price of gas in your areas? Ours is $4.00 and climbing.

So far I am still doing this :car: but will resort to :moped: or :boat: if I have to.

Hellllllooooo......Anyone out there?????Anyone????:confused3

Hey! Finally went back to read M&Ns infamous "last post", and realized it was just 1 after mine... I didn't have as much catching up to do as I thought.

So, M&N - Thanks! He did have a blast jumping in the puddles. I don't have any pics from that day, but I do have one from another rainy puddle day...

OMG, over $4/gallon?!?!?! Ours here is $3.65 for regular, about $3.85 for premium. But remember, Jersey Girls don't pump gas!!!:rotfl: Not a self-serve station to be found in the great state of NJ. (hey, there's gotta be SOME perk for living in this corrupt, overtaxed state...)

You know, speaking of gas prices...I'm kinda bummed. I bought a Highlander Hybrid because I was only getting 16mpg on my Sienna (which I adored, by the way--best car I ever drove!) and I just couldn't justify that anymore. So I went with the hybrid, expecting the EPA estimated 25-27mpg. But I'm only getting about 22 mpg. What's up with THAT??? Is it the way I drive? Did they not test it in NJ traffic? I mean, I could have gotten a regular Highlander and gotten 19 mpg, and saved a TON of $$$$.

I didn't choose the hybrid to save money so much as to save gas. I've become much more environmentally conscious, and therefore responsible, lately. But I'm really NOT saving much gas, and I'm certainly not saving much money! One or the other would have been nice.

My next car is gonna be an Avalon. A nice sedan. Hybrid? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the difference in mleage and price.

I had to chuckle the other day when I was on the British Airways website. They are apparently trying very hard to be "green". There's even a place in the reservation process where you can pay your carbon offset for the flight. Mine was something like $3.50. And that's just London to Edinburgh. Can't imagine what it would be for Newark to London round trip.

Wonder what it is to fly to Disney????

I'm pretty sure the advertised EPA is always for highway driving (its way more efficient, so it looks a lot better in the ad.) If you are doing all stop and go, or city driving, it will make a big difference. There are a few things you can do (everyone can) to try and improve your mileage though. When you are highway driving, I don't remember the exact numbers but every 5mph you drive over 60 decreases your efficiency by a LOT. Also, I've heard that accelerating quickly can really bring your numbers down too, so if you hit a lot of stop lights, take your time pulling away and getting back up to speed.

I've been driving my tiny toyota for years and years. Its not as efficient as it used to be, but I'm still thankful for my mileage... but even that is starting to really hurt at the pump. We have one credit card we use only at gas stations (we get some bonuses on our gas purchases) and I can't believe how that bill went up this month! :scared1: Its really becoming a hardship... especially in areas where you don't have a choice but to drive. I'm too far out to walk or bike, there's no public transportation to get me where I need to go, and, even though I work for a big company, my hours are too weird to carpool w/ anyone. At least I don't have a long commute... or I might have to start purchasing carbon credits just to justify working! :rolleyes1

Wait a minute... That title is reserved for WI. We have the title of Tax H***:rotfl2:

Oh, and I didn't know Jersey girls don't pump gas? Do those at the full serve station come out to clean your windows too?

I noticed that when we were in Jersey. Ha ha. Fools me every time because her in VA. there ain't a full service gas station to be found. :rotfl:

Lightech- That is one cute kid!!!!!

Okay, you guys ready for the best news EVER???? It actually happened yesterday but because a fellow Disser is interviewing I wanted to fill her in first but now I can say.....drumroll........

Nope, NJ has the highest property taxes in the country. And no, the windows don't get cleaned anymore--some places will do it if you ask, but usually they'll point you to the cleaner so you can do it yourself.

WoooHoooo!!! Guess there was no major turnaround, huh?

OK, now i've done my multiquoting, I can do a "regular" post.

I am seething mad right now. Why? Well, there is a little rhymes-with-witch at school named Ciara or something like that who has been tormenting her all year, which I knew about, but it had settled down for awhile. The past few weeks it's kicked into overdrive, and almost daily I'm hearing about what she's done to Laura now. The other day, she actually kicked my daughter in the leg! DD has gone to the guidance counselor numerous times, the gym teacher is aware (it always happens in gym class), etc. So, today Laura came home very upset. Almost in tears. Why? Well, apparently the little creep has spread a rumor around the school that my 12 year old daughter is pregnant!

OK, aside from the obvious question of WHY anyone would make such an incredible accusation (you'd have to know Laura--she is a complete innocent, with the mind of a 2nd grader, not a mean bone in her body, and while she has the figure of an older teen, she is NOT in ANY way "mature"!), just who the heck does this kid think she is to be spreading such rumors about MY kid??? I'm not just being an overprotective, "my baby girl would never do such a thing" statement. It's just that Laura is the LAST person you would ever believe such a thing about!!

So, I decided this has gone on long enough, and now it has crossed the line. It's bad enough that this kid has tormented my daughter all year, and this has been allowed to continue despite numerous visits to the school counselor. But now she is making slanderous remarks about my daughter's character, and trashing her reputation! And we all know that once a reputation is ruined, it's not easy to redeem. So I called the principal, who is a great guy. He called me back promptly, got the story in full, and has assured me that he will be very much involved from now on. He seemed a bit peeved at the idea that this has gone on so long, with the counselor's knowledge, and is still a problem.

I am hoping that he will get to the bottom of this and put a stop to this harassment, but I worry about the fallout of this rumor. Laura truly is an innocent. She is very naive. She is emotionally very immature. She is also very anxious to please others so they will like her. She is also just this year beginning to notice and take an interest in boys. She is VERY vulnerable, and her personality makes her a predator's dream come true. What if a boy at school decides that "oh, Laura's easy, I'll make a play for her" and she falls for it and goes along with what he wants because she wants him to like her? This is a child with an IQ of 65. She would be way over her head in trying to deal with something like this. She doesn't have alot of friends, so it's not like there are people there looking out for her throughout the day. And, like I said, she is VERY well developed. I remember a girl in Jr. High who was quite busty (we called her Double Bubble... Everyone just assumed she was easy because she had a big chest. (How awful is that?) Is that what people are thinking about my baby girl? Suddenly the baggy shirts she likes to wear don't seem like such a bad idea after all! (she's a total tomboy, hates to wear anything girly)

Am I overreacting? Or am I right to be worried about all this? Next year she will be an a special class that's just the lowest functioning special ed kids (some are even below her level). They go everywhere together, all day long, as a group. She will only go out of that class for Science, and even then a Special Ed teacher will go with her, and it's a small class, not the group of 32 like this year. Her locker will be by her classrom, in the 6th grade wing, and they'll have 8th grade lunch and specials (for scheduling reasons) so she won't have much, if any, contact with the rest of the 7th graders. But first we have to get through 22 more days of school THIS year.

Ay yi yi, what will they come up with next????? Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
